“Smelly rooms, beautiful surroundings”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2014

We stayed at the hotel for 1 Night and was glad so.

Positives first: surroundings are great. Beautiful, well kept beacharea.

The decor in the room was nice, but the was an awful smell! It smelled old and mouldy. Not just a little smelly, but VERY. When we left out clothes smelled.

The fixtures in the bedroom was loose. In a Way it seemed that they tried to put a little paint on some old cr** to make it look fancy. But the result is poor.

Several times during the night we woke up to the sound of animals (my guess is rats) running in the attic.

I tried to tell the woman at front seks about it when checking out, but she couldn't care less. Need I say, we'll never go back.

I stayed here for one night and at a cost $375 for a standard double I expect a bathtub that I am not afraid of felling through. All though the room has been updated the bathroom was not. The tub and surround where a mess. The tub is rotting away and frankly disqusting. I did tell the front desk and it was like talking to a wall.

Room Tip: dont stay in 413

The Postcard Inn has all possibilities of becoming a great resort, but doesn't really make it all the way in. The premises are great, with multiple beach areas, pools, multiple bars etc. The rooms are also great, but a good shell is not enough. Even if the service at the front desk was great (almost a bit over the top) upon check-in, the rest of the staff doesn't live up to their colleague's level of service.

The food at the "beach bar" was average and service slow. I also got both a fly and some other strange things in the coke i ordered. When I made them aware of this, no excuses, just another coke. The food at the steakhouse for dinner was good, especially the catch of the day, and service was good then. However in the morning when we were over for breakfast, they didn't want to seat us as it was 15 minutes until they closed for breakfast (actually they didn't even contact us, we had to go get them). I though the meaning of breakfast-time was to actually servie people within that time fram. Not even close to good enough. The tiki bar was cool, but even though they said that the hotel was full and that there would be a lot going on there on a friday night it was totally quiet. The bartender was also quite rude and cared more about talking to colleagues and suppliers than serving the guests.

Our last complaint is about WiFi. It did not work in the room, and their excuse was a cold front on the way in obstructing the signals. I don't know enough about these things to know if this might be the case (although I've never heard about it before), but if it was correct they obviously were aware of the problem and should have fixed it by providing stonger signals long time ago. Also the in-room safe was broke, but we never mentioned it, so we didn't give them the chance to fix that.

The potential is definately there, but some of the staff need to get their act together and some minor things need to be fixed. If they're in place, I would not have a problem staying there again, as the place is beautiful.

Room Tip: Ocean view should be worth the extra as there is nothing to see the other way.

My daughter and I spent two lovely days in the Postcard Inn after escaping the cold, snow and ice of Canada. We were very pleasantly surprised to receive two complimentary drinks upon arriving and were upgraded to an ocean-front room at no additional cost. We found the staff to be very pleasant and accommodating. We ate at both the Shula 2 and the restaurant/bar on the beach and all meals were well-priced and delicious. The beach and pool were very nice and kept clean and seaweed-free. Our only concern while there was that the WiFi did not work in our room and we couldn't call out of the resort on our room telephone. Overall we had a great stay and would most definately return to the Postcard Inn.

Room Tip: If you want ocean-front you need to select rooms in the 100 or 200 block. The corner rooms are very...

Great property well maintained. Beach activities, heated pool. The ocean view room in building 200 was huge, could easily accommodate 4 people. The beds are divided with a large decorative pillow for privacy so you don't have to stare at the person next to you if traveling with a group of friends. Food was tasty though expensive. $14 for 7 shrimps. $20 for basic breakfast (eggs, grits, toast, bacon, sausage patty, coffee & juice). Portions big enough to share. You could hear the music from the bar but it wasn't really a bother with closed window. Good price in January. Wouldn't pay $300 as another reviewer paid. There was no hot water in the shower in the morning; it got fixed quickly.

Room Tip: building 200 rooms are huge and pretty quiet

Stayed for 2 nights Jan 2014. Inn is right on the beach. Inn has two pools and the pool that we used is a few feet from the beach. Tiki bar and Rumrunners bar are also on premises. I consider our stay here to be excellent. only complaints are (1) room smelled musty; and (2) maid service stingy on soap, cups, towels, etc. We had excellent weather the day we arrived and drove down to key west on the second day. Inn staff was very helpful, friendly and courteous. Can't say enough positive things about the beautiful Inn grounds, beach area and pools.

Happy I stayed here. Great facilities here and cool retro feel. Room I stayed in in my wing was a bit dated and the door was thin. The pool, beach, facilities, etc are second to none at the price range. Restaurants, 3 bars and all that. Next time will stay in the newer wing if it's at the same price.
