Olympic pool with high dives and low dives for the cannon baller in all of us! This place has its own marina and beach and it is very well maintained. The pool is to die for if you are a swimmer. The beach is very family friendly. The sunsets are to die for here!

For those in the know regarding beaches in the Keys, as far as Islamorada goes, Founders is like the best gas station sushi in Alabama. Blame geology and geography. The Keys are coral-based islands, thus very little sand to go around. It's more like fine coral dust. That said, Founders at least has a semblance of a real beach. There's enough water to wade out and not stumble on coral rocks, and there's very little seaweed. Snorkel by the mangroves to see some fish. It's the bay or gulf side of Islamorada so there is little to no seaweed odor that one can find on the Atlantic side. The park has a nice play area for little kids, and there's shower towers and restrooms. When staying locally in a motel, bring proof of that (confirmation notice on paper) and they will waive the beach fee, although there will be a small charge to use the pool. We headed for the beach, tried to set a sand screw to secure an umbrella -- no go. Too rocky. But there were enough palm trees nearby to provide shade so we were ok. If floating aimlessly is your thing, you're in luck. It's a nice cove so mega wave action is rare unless there is a westerly wind.

Public, clean, nice water and large area to explore! Lots of shade and nice playground. Clean facilities and outdoor showers, covered picnic tables. We visited this beach on a Tuesday so there were only about 7 families there. It's probably busy on the weekends though. The fee was about $30 for 2 adults and 3 children. There was a large pool near which was an extra charge of $3/adult and $2/kid but we enjoyed the beach so much we didn't visit the pool.

Founder's Park is a fun stop for the family, young and old. There is a beach area (keep in mind Florida Key beaches are not huge), clean restrooms, and a playground. Water was clear and free of a lot of rocks and seaweed. There is also an additional charge to use the park pool. The pool was a lot of fun for the kids, as there was a high dive and regular dive. There also were lap lanes, a regular swimming area, and splash pad area for the younger kids. Changing rooms are available. We had a nice time here. There is a charge to enter the park.

We came here in hopes for some nice snorkeling, after reading lrher's reviews. Not much to see, we snorkels the entire south side of the jetty, and that made it ok. The park entry fee is per person, which was kinda costly for a state park, where most are per car in my experience. The gate person was informative, but didn't really make a difference.
