“We love it! Better than before...”

The location is perfect, does face the bayside. Has great dock area and boat ramp. Extremelly well managed by Ana and Scott, great team. We have been staying here for sooo many years. Consistently good. Very clean, comfortable beds, amenities are good. Three units have front bay view, the others still have a nice look to the grounds which are very nicely kept. We love to see the nice sunsets. If anything, I will suggest a more quiet a/c units and paper towel as well as Kleenex boxes, again a wish list! But, all is good. Yes they have hammocks, barbecue, kayak and bikes are available now free!! Ana and Scott are so accommodating, professional, friendly, helpful; it makes your stay very comfortable and relaxing. We highly recommended it and FYI they have cover garage for your vehicles. It is quiet, peaceful and very nice for the Families and friends get together. The decor and the cozy chic-romantic lights at night is very pleasant and enjoyable. Tips for future add more tiki's so a bit more sun coverage can be experienced or maybe umbrellas. Seriously, again all is great! Congrats to Ana and Scott, property is better kept than ever. We will be back. See photos for better understanding!

Stayed here for Easter weekend. The place was full but astonishingly we were not stepping on each other. This is a keys resort, not the ritz, or a grande waileah in Maui. Many of us like it this way. So if you need the ritz you will not wanna come here. If you want superb customer satisfaction and great views with NO stress, you found it! As a helpful tip, I really like the rooms that are right on the water. If you are a fisherman then you are steps away from your boat. If your a romantic couple you will love the romance. For the chefs out there, in the office they have all sorts of extras to fit your cooking needs.

Room Tip: Room A is right by the grill, the cottage is right in front of the chickie hut!

My request: Garbage Disposal
The wife's: Hairdryer
The kids: Heated pool and more hammocks! (They loved them)
Besides that, I can't think of anything i would change about this place. My family absolutely fell in love with La Jolla (pronounced "la hoya") the moment we drove through the front drive. What a perfect place to call home. We stayed here for about 9 nights, and drove up and down to Bahia Honda to the south and Pennekamp to the north. For the money, there's not another place I;d rather be. I'm just afraid that sometime down the road someone will buy this place out, update a few things and start charging $100/more a night. I hope that never happens.
As far as my kids go (8 and 11) the hammocks and docks provided endless pleasure, especially as new families came and went, and new friends were made. This was just the perfect keys experience, and one that i don;t think exists in many other places. A+ all around.

Room Tip: Use the map on their website. Pick a room. We stayed in Unit F and loved the view of the bay. Bes...

We were in the Keys, 4 kids, Spring Break and didn't have a room. All the major ones were full so we were cruising north and looking for Vacancy signs. We came across La Jolla Resort on Islamorada and it had a Vacancy sign. It looks a bit 70's from the road but we couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The rooms are very clean and have everything that you need. Don't expect the Marriott but do expect a fantastic little place, very relaxed and the owners are super-pleasant. In fact, they have been (by far) the best people we have stayed with on this trip. There is a waterfront area with a dock for your boat, plentiful sun loungers, bbq area and free use of kayaks. It is really clean and friendly and would definitely come back here again. We are here now and are looking at extending our stay.

Room Tip: We are here at prime season and our room is $199. For an extra $50, get the main waterfront suite wi...

The resort is a very well placed location close to Lorelei Restaurant and the staff were kind enough to lend us bicycles to ride down. The hotel is very old but well maintained and has a classic keys charm. The room was fine and the bed was very comfortable. When we arrived and walked into our room the smell of cigarettes just about knocked us to the floor. It said the rooms were no smoking but that didn't stop the person before us. Again the staff had no other rooms available but they kindly gave us some fabrese spray. Overall we enjoyed the stay and probably give it another try but it's hard to say it was worth the money.

Thank you for the review. We apologize that your complaint about the odor in your room was not properly addressed. We have advised the staff of the proper procedure for handling such a problem. If your issue have been properly addressed we would have placed a machine in your room made for removing odors and bacteria and after a couple hours the smoke odor you smelled would have been removed.

We do not allow smoking in our rooms and we have each guest agree in writing that they will not smoke in their room however some times our guests dont follow the rules and we dont catch them. This was on of those times. Again we apologize and hope that you will give us another chance to meet your expectations. Our rates drop quite a bit after labor day.

From the moment we checked-in I knew this hotel was going to be great! The staff was amazing, helpful and accommodating. They could tell us where to eat, what to do, and were very flexible with helping anyone that needed it.
Our room was great, lots of storage and the bed was huge and comfortable. The only downside would be the bathroom, it's not very accessible (at least in our room) up to stairs, then short ceilings and no fan. We had to leave the window opened when we showered, and still it got very damp.
The resort allows you to borrow free of charge, bicycles, stand up paddle boards and kayaks. We took advantage of all of them, the view from the water isn't that great, but to get up early and get out on the water was amazing! We used the bikes to go up the road to the local CVS and stock up on some supplies.
I wish we could have relocated this hotel to Key West when we had to move on there, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Room Tip: All rooms are excellently described on their website, so take a look before making your reservation...

This was our first stay in the keys and I wouldn't return here...the staff especially Scott was very nice...four of us stayed and for well over 300 a night the room was not comfortable...bed squeaked ..air did not work and I felt sticky /wet the whole time...bathroom was tiny with bad water pressure...toilet actually tipped sideways....they defiantly need to do some updating for this kind of money....I am glad we check out the keys but being uncomfortable and not sleeping well just left a bad taste in my mouth...I'll continue to go to a nice Mexico resort from now on...also this is all coming from a true farm girl....

In response I would first like to say that this is our first bad review since I have been employed at La Jolla Resort so responding to it is quite difficult and upsetting because during this guest's stay we were not informed of any problems or concerns. If we know of a problem we always take every step possible to correct it. However if we don’t know about a problem there is no way we can correct it.

With regard to each issue stated in this review we have never heard any complaint about the memory foam beds which are less than 8 months old, the water pressure, the air conditioning or the toilet in this particular unit (The Blue Heron Cottage). The air conditioning units in the cottage were replaced less than 6 months ago and since receiving this review we have checked the shower heads, toilet, the water pressure and bed frames to find there were NO issues with them with exception of a loose bolt on the base of the toilet which we have tightened.
In addition we would also like to make it clear that this guest paid the rate of $299 per night plus 12.5% tax for a two bedroom, two bath, waterfront cottage centrally located in the heart of Islamorada and received complimentary use of the resort’s bikes, kayaks, paddleboards, fishing and snorkeling gear and wifi.

Unfortunately there is not anything we can do about the size of the bathrooms without major construction and possibly ruining the charm of the property. La Jolla Resort was built in the late 40’s in an Old Florida Style offering comfortable accommodations to families and fisherman, and that is what we strive to represent the resort to offer. We have put current pictures of the units and the bathrooms on our website at www.lajollaresort.com and it is our hope that anyone interested will take a look so that they have an accurate expectation of where they will be staying at La Jolla Resort.

In this particular situation we believe this guest’s expectation was unfortunately not one of the Florida Keys but more of an all-inclusive resort in Mexico.
