My husband and I stayed a month at Pines and Palms. We loved everything about it. From the moment you walk onto the property you get this charming island feeling. They offer kayaks, warm pool, white sandy beach, bikes, hammock, the best housekeeping service I've ever seen, and BBQ's delivered to your door. The staff, management, and owner are the friendliest and most accommodating people you could meet. The guests were all lovely people as well and we've made plans to met up next year with several couples we met staying there. The place is adorable. Our room was one of perhaps 7 up on stilts, which provided protected parking for our car. The AC was plenty cold, but I found the room to be breezy enough that we just turned on the over head fan. I highly recommend Pines and Palms Resorts. Whatever your vacation needs and dreams may be, I'm certain they will be met at P & P!

We stayed for four days and had a fabulous time. This was just what we were looking for. Quiet, unassuming, yet updated and clean. The docks were damaged from Hurricane Wilma but are scheduled for repair. Everyone was friendly, there when you needed them but not in the way. Our Cottage overlooked both the Atlantic and the heated pool. The man-made "beach" was nice, we took a kayak out in the ocean and tried to snorkel but there was a cold front and it was way too cold. However, the heated pool served our needs and was a nice alternative.
If you're looking for quiet, "old keys" this is the place for you. I can't imagine where the one bad review that I read came from. I would and plan to visit again!

We loved this place and were guided by tripadvisor when making our selection. Only had 2 nights which was way too short. Rooms are nicely decorated, very clean. Our room had a kitchen and balcony with water view for $143 inc tax/night. Nice pool overlooking the water. Very friendly staff. Resort is small and personal with an old-florida feel, family oriented or nice getaway for couples. Would definitely stay again. Islamorada is a great spot for exploring Upper and Middle Keys.

While the hurricane season has done a number on the dock (as it did most docks in the area -- they've gotten their quotes and are planning on getting them back in order), otherwise Pines and Palms is as advertised. The owners are friendly and concerned about your stay, the rooms are clean and the place is quiet and relaxing.
I've seen complaints about the air conditioners being loud. They are name-brand window air conditioners and are as loud as window units normally are. My concern was that they keep the place cool; they did...
We stayed in the Ocean View Suites. They were small and the furnishings were getting on in age, but otherwise they were fine. If you need room to spread out you need to opt for the Ocean Front Villas, althought they are not cheap. The Cottage Style Rooms are very nice, but you had better like the people you are staying with because it's just one big room. They tell you all this up front.
This was my first trip to the Keys in years. It's what I remember. If you enjoy fishing or diving or reading a good book, you can spend a great deal of time in the area and never get bored. Otherwise, spend a few days here to unwind and then head for South Florida for the rest of your vacation.

My wife and I went down for just one night, and we had an absolutely wonderful time there. Management was incredibly nice and helpful, the rooms were immaculately clean and suprisingly nice, the pool area was very clean, and included a grill in the wall, along with a counter and fridge to store food and drinks.

Like most Key hotels/motels, there is no "real" beach, but if you have a boat, you get free docking, and it's a great area to go cruising/fishing/snorkeling in.

This place is just a couple of miles from great restaurants like Islamorada Fish Company and fun social scenes like the famous Holiday Isle Resort. The price could be cheaper, but we definitely found it to be a sound investment of our time and money.

We loved our 3 night stay at Pines and Palms. We stayed in a one bedroom cottage, which was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The ocean views were beautiful and the pool so warm, we were able to switch off from the real world and relax completely.

Our family of four stayed at the Pines and Palms in in the beginning of April, 2005. It was our first time there and we have stayed in Islamorada many times before, from the Chesapeake to the Cheeca and the Pines and Palms really is the the best value in town. We stayed in on of the elevated one-bedroom suites. which provided enough parental-child separation, despite the small quarters. The rooms are neat, clean and comfortable. The grounds are well maintained and only a short walk to the Midway Cafe (go for breakfast and coffee). The two greatest assets to the resort are its staff and its size. The staff was friendly, on a first name basis, but not pushy or overbearing. We have two small children who nap and the cleaning staff was very accomodating their schedules. The size of the resort is appropriate to the number of accomodations. We visited other resorts nearby and felt that their size was too big and had too many people. (Admittedly, we did not go in the high season, so it was not fully booked). Cons: yes, there are ants in the Keys; we did not have any in our unit, but we were good about cleaning up. The "beach" is not what most expect, but typical for the Keys. The AC units are loud, but not unreasonably so - I'd rather go with than without.
PS - I read the online reviews prior to booking and was a little hesitant. But, it is apparent that some folks will not be happy anywhere. I dont know, maybe hoteliers and travel agents conribute to these reviews, too.
