This is exactly the type of hotel we were looking for on our vacation, a nice rustic laid back place. If you are looking for glitz and glamour, keep driving, but if you are expecting classic old Florida charm, this is your place. From our initial call to verify our reservation, to check in and hospitality during our stay it was top notch. We were allowed to check in very early, 10 AM, and given several suggestions for things to do and see. The pool in heated and feels great on these cool days. We used a groupon and get a room very close to the water and was much bigger than we expected. We only booked 2 days and will be sorry to leave then and wish we booked more. We will certainly be back!

We had a wonderful experience at La Siesta. We stayed in a one bedroom suite with full kitchen and living room for a week. Every morning we would go to the pool for the complimentary breakfast and coffee and spend some time in the pool or hot tub, or just sitting out on the dock overlooking the ocean and watching the little tropical fish beneath us. It had a very small/quaint resort feel, and the staff couldn't be friendlier. We took the kayaks out on the water and rented fishing poles, which were all complimentary. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing vacation!

Room Tip: We stayed in a small bungalow that was not on the water, which was very nice, but next time we will...

Just back after a 4 week break at La Siesta. The staff were very good, our apartment [1201] was ok. The kitchen was on a par with other establishment that we have stayed in apart from the crockery and cooking utensils that could have been better. The hot water supply to the sink and shower suffer from poor pressure and took a while to heat up. Our main complaint is the $18 daily surcharge that is in place for the use of the kayaks, push bikes and fishing poles. The kayaks were short of back supports with useless life jackets, the bikes were all past there sell by date and we had our own fishing gear. So a 1/2 hour trip in a kayak cost us $384. We will not be going back until this rip of charge is removed.

We had the ocean front cottage which cost a little extra; the cottage was large but clearly expanded at some point so the bathroom was really tiny. The cottage gets a mixed review; it was airy and sunny and with a great view; it had clearly had its "soft renovation" with pretty curtains and a stylish sofa. But the kitchen (with stove and fridge) was so run-down that it was gross. The tiles in the kitchen were all heavily cracked and there was many spots that would need chemical warfare. Also the floor had a carpet that mimicked hardwood; I wore shoes at all times inside. Some of the cutlery provided smelled like puke and we ended up pre-washing everything we used from the kitchen. The cottages were clearly some of the oldest on the estate, and I could see that some of the cheaper units had better kitchens.

The marina is kept really really well, people were working on it non-stop and it looked great. There were hammocks and outside chairs; although sadly not the pretty chairs displayed in the commercials; only one (!) cottage had those. Pool was great, breakfast okay. A commercial radio was played on loudspeakers at the pool during daytime. The place seems to attract a small party crowd in the week-ends, we didn't find it to be a problem but if they were next door it might have been. There is a laundrette on-site.

Large rooms, partial water view but... Hot water in shower took forever to get hot;never got hot in sink. No hand towels in bathroom. 3 bath towels and 2 face clothes. Very unusual. Small kitchen is functional but limited. Pool towels are very, very small. Pool did not look very clean.

Staff is friendly. Grounds are nice, lounge chairs are old and torn. It is the location that warrants the price. Also note there is a $20 per day resort fee. Not really a resort but rather a traditional hotel grounds

Breakfast is served at pool but table and chairs are dirty and breakfast is to limited. We went to restaurants.

Air conditioner did work. Balcony was not cleaned each day.

We will stay elsewhere on the next visit

Room Tip: Ask for one on second floor close to the water

We stayed here one night, the rooms were spacious and staff very helpful.
The setting is fab, sunrise and palm trees!
The breakfast was a big let down, served by the pool was fine, when the showers stopped but the paper plates plastic cutlery and a very basic continental selection with insipid coffee was not what we expected for an American B and B

This is the only island-like resort that can be accessed by car!!! Located on the Atlantic shore the resort has the "feel" and appearance of a deserted isle somewhere in the far Pacific. Beautiful and plentiful palm trees and various other tropical plants are everywhere. Absolutely gorgeous shoreline with "new" marina, sandy beach, bulwarks and a swimming pool that looks and feels like a natural pool at perfect temperature....the setting is actually overwhelming!!!!! All the grounds, buildings, landscaping, and rooms are meticulously maintained. Our really large, comfortable, 2 flat panel tvs, wifi, full desk, and kitchenette, full patio with chairs (suite) room was 114 with a beautiful view of both the resort and ocean....breathtaking!!!!!!! Oh, the dozen new, built for two, between 2 coconut laden palm trees Hammocks, situated along the shore, are like the froth and cherry atop the perfect Pina Colada! The staffers are friendly and helpful....everyone! And the continental breakfast served in the pool area was fresh, tasty and mirrored the same fine quality as the surroundings! We'll be back!!!!!! By the way we used Groupon and not only saved a bundle, we were given a great room and we were always treated as $250.00 per night guests!

Room Tip: 114 had it all!!!!!!
