Let me first start by saying, the Keys in general use the term "resort" loosely. It seems resort, in the Keys, means a bunch of buildings/bungalows together. Now onto the Kon Tiki. Loved it!!! The bed was comfortable. The room as well as the grounds were clean and beautiful. Your at a half way point to Key West and Key Largo without paying those prices. We didn't get a chance to use the pool, but that seemed nice too. Lady at the front desk was very helpful because of our late check in and telling us how to avoid the Miami Traffic. Would definitely come here again

...My wife and I visited the Keys and decided to stop about a third of the way down and then again at Key West. We liked Islamorada because there were a lot of places we could easily visit from there. We choose Kon Tiki because it seemed to fit our needs. We wanted to stay 4 nights but did not want anything too expensive. We intended to eat out and did not need extensive food preparation in our lodgings.
...The Resort was quite easy to find as were most places in the Keys. We had the bad fortune of having to spend 3.5 hours waiting for an accident to be cleared from a bridge just before we got to Kon Tiki. I called the desk and was told where we could find our key since we would be arriving late. I then took care of checking in the next morning. The management was quite friendly and helpful.
...Our room was clean and reasonably roomy. The whole resort was quite neat and the grounds were very well maintained. There was a lot of room to walk around and go view the ocean or relax on a hammock. The pool was delightful since it was heated and well maintained.
...We were able to walk to or drive a short distance to a number of restaurants and the front desk even made a reservation for us at the Lazy Days Restaurant. There was little we could not find within easy driving distance of the resort.
...The resort is set up to accommodate families, even large families especially those who want to fish. There is a recreation area for young people, the pool is inviting and fishing off the dock is permitted. We enjoyed talking with other residents.
...There was a lot of wildlife and flowers at or around Kon Tiki. I've included a few bird pictures to prove my point. You can relax and watch the birds or view the beautiful flowers.
...Our only disappointment was that the lagoon described on the web site had no tropical fish and was not sufficiently clear to offer any snorkeling. The water off the dock was not inviting for diving or snorkeling as it was always rough and too near the path of fishing boats. You could see shallow water from the dock and perhaps in calm weather, snorkeling would be possible. The woman at the front desk told me that someone had fished out the tropical fish and a storm had messed up the lagoon. It will be some time before this lagoon is an enticing as the web site implies. This was unfortunate as we both like to snorkel.
...However, the bottom line is that our only negative was far outweighed by positives and we certainly would highly recommend staying at the Kon Tiki Resort.

Room Tip: Look at the descriptions of the rooms on the web site. Except for the lagoon description, the web si...

My husband and I did a long weekend getaway to Islamorada and had a wonderful vacation while staying at Kon-Tiki! The grounds are so nicely well kept, the staff are all amazingly friendly, and the rooms were extremely clean. We brought our boat and found the docking to be great as well as the ramp and the parking for the boat trailer was ample. The little lagoon is a great touch and even though we didn't use the pool, it looked lovely. I loved the palm trees, hammocks, and fire pit area. Such a great "Old Keys" vibe to the place but super clean and friendly! Overall, just a wonderful little gem in Islamorada!

The structure consists of bungalows with well-equipped and clean, with a sea view.
The beach is very small but you can swim in the sea. Or in a natural pool. There is also a fresh water swimming pool.
It is very nice to rest lying on the hammocks under the coconut trees.
Unfortunately we only stayed one night. Hope to be back, loved it.

Excellent location. Charming unit 1. If you stay a week please note stove top has one working burner. No dishwasher (first world problem but in case you need one) we like the property and place to launch paddle boards or keep your boat. We will come back for more island time soon!

We have been coming to Kon Tiki for 22 years now and is our home away from home. The grounds are kept beautifully rooms are clean although could use some updating a bit . Office management George , Jennifer and last but not least Nancy are very accomadating to your needs as best as possible. Located walking distance to shops and restaurants.

A very relaxed, somewhat old-fashioned place. Nice big, green yard with magnificent tall and healthy palm trees, hammocks, picnic tables, grills, a shuffle board (which got a lot of use). We stayed in unit 15 -- spacious, clean, comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen -- we did quite a bit of cooking. Small but spotlessly clean swimming pool. Palm trees and tiki huts provide plenty of shade. The place is full of birds -- pelicans, great white herons, snowy egrets, white ibis, and woodpeckers. Nice fishing pier and boat ramp. Water is very clear and full of fish -- mullet, baracuda, parrot fish and others whose names I don't know. We rented kayaks for the week from Back Country Kayaks. They delivered to Kon Tiki -- I was out on the water almost every day. Staff and other guests were all pleasant and friendly -- I think the place is so relaxed and beautiful that it brings out the best in people.

Room Tip: The closer the rooms are to the water, the nicer they will be -- also, my brother stayed in room 9...
