Cheeca Lodge is just what you want when looking for an upscale beachfront hotel. The hotel mixes the relaxed feel of an oceanside escape, with the amenities you have at home. The property is impeccable and the staff very friendly. Our room - a bungalow, was very comfortable with ocean views. The screened balcony provided a peaceful place to lounge. The bed and bathroom were comparable with an upscale hotel. The mini fridge stocked with water was a plus. A/C and room fan kept the room comfortable. Parking was underneath the room, adding to the convenience. The resort fee covers the use of extra perks like golf, bicycles, and sea kayaks. We rode the bikes to breakfast one morning and they worked great, kayaks were fun too. Didn't eat at the resort as there are many great restaurants nearby, but the poolside drinks were perfect. Whether you're a pool or beach person, there were plenty of comfortable chairs and shade when you want a break from the hot sun. The upstairs bar in the main building has the best views and should be experienced.

The only negative was the weak WiFi signal. We could only get it while in the lobby area. Our iPads could not pick it up in our room or by the pool. Perhaps this is a sign to disconnect while on vacation.

What a wonderful review. We really want our guests to feel at home here, and we are very happy we accomplished that goal with you. Thank you for your compliments about our grounds, accommodations, and resort amenities. We are delighted you took full advantage of them and enjoyed your stay! The upstairs bar you mentioned is called the Chart Room, and it really has the most stunning oceanfront vistas of anywhere in the Keys. We invite all our guests to visit our Chart Room, and we thank you for mentioning it. Our apologies for the issues with our wireless internet, we are working to fix this problem. Thank you for writing, and please come back again soon.

We stayed for the week at Cheeca Lodge with our two daughters. We had a resort room, which are the less expensive of the resort. The room would need additional attention but overall was satisfactory: linen and towels of very good quality, very nice bathroom. We had a view on a small lagoon that also needed additional attention. Gardens are absolutely beautiful, banana and coconut trees with a lot of nice colourful flowers. Walking in the resort was a great moment, and at night there are lighted torches. The gym offered good quality of treadmills. Lots of activities at the lodge: tennis, bike, kayak, fishing, snorkling activities and good music at the family pool. Restaurant is very expensive but also very good so we did have to seek outside restaurants. We will come back at the lodge since we had a very good moment even if the weather was average.

We look forward to your return here to Cheeca Lodge! We appreciate your praises of our room amenities and our lushly landscaped gardens. A stroll through the gardens here is a tropical enchantment -- warm ocean breezes, the flickering of tiki torches and the scent of night-blooming jasmine tickles the senses. We enjoyed your review, and look forward to having you back.

Cheeca Lodge Is a well located tropical paradise on the upper Florida Key of Islamorada if you are wise enough to select the accommodations in the main building you will be surrounded by contemporary chic luxury. The rooms are very large and well appointed. There is a large enclosed bath tub located on thre extra large terrace overlooking the Atllantic. I know nothing about the other accommodations which are separate buildings bungalow type. I've heard from other guest "they need some work" The on site restaurants are good and the Spa is very functional.
A lovely resort to relax and unwind.

Room Tip: The main building is the way o go if it fits your budget

We took pleasure in your lovely review. Cheeca Lodge truly is the crown jewel of the Florida Keys. Thank you for your praises for our accommodations in the Main Lodge. We are giving a large inventory of our accommodations outside the lodge a full makeover, refinishing and replacing room amenities where needed. We are glad you enjoyed our restaurants and spa, and we invite you back for a return visit in the very near future.

We stayed at Cheeca from July 10-14th. It was our first time here and we had a wonderful time. Upon arriving, the resort is very impressive. The landscaping and pathways are gorgeous and the entrance is 5 star. We arrived before the check in time. A courteous staff member and glass of champagne greeted us and our suite was ready early.

My first impression of the building (600) was that the location was great. Not a long walk from the main building, pools and beach. As I checked out the room, the kitchen was very nice, with stainless appliances and granite counters. This was a Luxury Lagoon View Suite and the view was beautiful. The room overall was on the dark side and the furnishings were showing wear and tear. I noticed that the living area rug looked like it needed a major cleaning or better yet, replaced. The bathroom was very large and nice. Overall, it was not as new as the photo on the website.

After spending some time in the room, we discovered several maintenance issues. The door to our room did not close tightly and did not lock unless slammed several times. We went out to dinner the first night thinking that the door was locked and returned to find it open. The housekeeper had come in for turn down service and didn't know to check that the door was shut. I called the front desk and maintenance arrived in minutes to fix the problem. Nothing was missing in the room. Along with this we had a short list of annoying issues: phones didn't work unless you unplugged and replugged the jack in the wall, no switch on one of the lamps, no bowls in the kitchen...) All of these issues were tended to promptly and everyone was apologetic, but it was an inconvenience.

For this level of resort and price point, I was very disappointed in the over all cleanliness of our building and room. The stairwell was a mess with a broken cup with food in it on the steps for our entire stay (even after I told the front desk multiple times), garbage can in the stairwell was disgusting, the sofa sleeper mattress was horribly uncomfortable and our roll-a-way bed had the springs almost poking through. The king bed linens were thin and seemed old (although the bed was comfortable.) We expected it to be nicer.

We had such a great time outside of the room that we plan on going back. The staff is very professional and polite. The food and drinks were amazing and the location couldn't be any better. I hope that Cheeca does some upgrading of the rooms so we can book our next stay.

P.S. Big shout out to the security man (I think his name was Reggie) for taking us by golf cart and picking us up from the grocery store across the street. He's the best!

Room Tip: I would stay in the main building next time or request the newest, cleanest room in the 500 or 600 s...

We held our daughter's destination wedding at the Cheeca Lodge & Spa last month. It was an experience that we'll cherish forever and none of our guests will soon forget. All the events throughout the weekend came out perfect: the flowers, the music, the food, the environment....all first class.
One of the main reasons for the great experience was Charlene Lopez, the event coordinator. She reviewed every possible detail as if it was her own wedding. The whole staff was always making sure to try to accommodate all of our requests.
The Sunday brunch at the Lagoon Beach was truly picture perfect. The selection of fruits and variety of food items was impressive. The sunset wedding ceremony next to the ocean, between palms, was spectacular.
We stayed in the main building in one of the ocean view suites and it was an invitation to total relaxation.
It was a great weekend and I would recommend this property.

Room Tip: The ocean view rooms in the main building are just awesome, with their own private jacuzzis and balc...

My family has stayed at Cheeca once before, and we went back last week. Beautiful property, great stay and overall a great experience. It is a bit expensive, so we never ate at the restaurants on property. But, since there are so many great places to eat in the area -we got to explore new and wonderful restaurants. Any questions on local attractions - ask Earl at the gatehouse. Earl is personable, friendly, informed and just terrific to guests - he deserves 5 stars!

We did have one disappointing service issue, the elevator to our building stopped working and stayed out of service for two days. As we were checking out, we had to drag everything down the stairs. Very inconvenient

It was a pleasure having you and your family back to Cheeca. We are delighted you had an overall great experience and we appreciate your comments about Earl, our friendly and very popular gatekeeper. We apologize profusely for the inconvenience caused by the elevator – a bellman would have been happy to help you with your luggage! We certainly hope you will plan a third visit in the very near future.

We recently stayed 4 days at the Cheeca Lodge and Spa in beautiful Islamorada, Fl. While I've vacationed in the keys many times over the years, this was my first time at Cheeca. First the good: Very nice rooms, grounds, hotel, pool, and beach areas. Staff was attentive and curteous, and for the most part our stay was excellent. The not so good: The food from the Atlantic's Edge restuarant was lousy. The food was way over priced for the quality and the waiters seemed to be new and in training.I did not eat at Nikai, or Lemoncello, so i can't speak to them. We also experienced a very slow and confused group of bartenders at the Tiki Bar, (10 minutes to make a drink?) with about 8 patrons at the bar??? They were polite and appologetic, but at these prices, you would expect a lot more. I know the Cheeca has a long and prestigious history and everything, but something was a little off for what is supposed to be a first class resort. When people pay $300+ per night, they expect attention to detail, and especially food on par with prices - $100.00 for lunch is ok, but don't serve run of the mill fries with a lobster grilled cheese....also is it too hard to replace the bathrobes in our room after the first night? I even called to have new ones brought up-nothing. I will stay there again, but will continue to eat at other establishments, which are all close by. I want to stress that the staff was polite at all times and that because of that, I will come back. We did not get a chance to use the Spa services, but did take the snorkel trip which was great, and they have bikes and kayaks and fishing poles to use included with the room. I was able to charter a fishing boat with some friends during our stay, which was awesome, and we brought in a lot of Mahi-Mahi. Of course this really enhanced the trip!

Room Tip: Golf Course view rooms were very quiet and a little less than the ocean view of course.

It was nice to hear that you will stay here at Cheeca again in the future, and we will welcome you back with open arms! We are delighted you liked your accommodations, grounds, pool and beach. We were very happy to hear you found our staff to be polite, attentive and courteous, and your stay to be excellent. That’s fantastic that you enjoyed your snorkeling and fishing trips and had a great day on the water. That’s what it’s all about!
We were very disappointed to learn that the Atlantic’s Edge restaurant did not meet your standards, and we apologize that you were unhappy there. This restaurant holds the 2013 AAA Four Diamond Award, and we truly believe our menu prices are comparable to other restaurants of this caliber in South Florida. We take your comments to heart, and will use them to improve and enhance our overall guest experience. We look forward to your next visit, and thank you for writing.
