“Our favorite RV park just got better”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

We have stayed at Jolly Roger park mulitple times and just recently returned on our way to Key West February 5th. They have just updated the shower rooms and they are FANTASTIC. May be some of the best I have seen at any RV park. Lots of space and everything was top of the line. Last year they put in the new pool and surrounding area and now this really tops it off. the staff has always been top notch and attentive. We have stayed here at least 6 times in the last year and just love it. Most of the restaurants are a drive away but there is the "Wreck" bar and grille that is walking distance and has excellent food and service. We will be doing a review on that soon. Jolly Roge also takes Good Sam discount and Passport America. Just can't beat it as far as we are concerned.

Room Tip: They do have some rooms available but we have not used this service as of yet. There is no fitness...

We stayed here in a 40ft motorhome on our first trip to the Keys and loved it! The park is clean and has real grass which seemed rare at other parks. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us to extend our stay. The pool, docks, and bark park are great amenities. We own a campground in the Midwest and this will now be our favorite winter getaway! The park has great atmosphere and thanks to all staff!

We rented an RV from Miami and travelled down the Florida Keys and through the Everglades. This was the best private RV park of the whole stay. Friendly and extremely helpful staff, lovely views and right next to the ocean. Quiet, attractive, clean and well kept site and pool. Good landscaping and the bays all had a reasonable amount of space around them including your own bench/table. The price was excellent too, and for us was one of the most reasonable along the Keys. Enjoyed walking along the dock and watching the sunset. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

After a last minute decision to camp in the Florida Keys in January was met with "Full Up" postings in all the state parks (until May!), I found this place on Trip Advisor, and was happy I did. Fortunately for us, there was space on "Tiki Island", an area for 4 tents down by the water. Otherwise, we would have been in amongst the 45' motorhomes. The pool is nice, the restrooms are new, it's quiet at night, and the place is situated in Marathon, which is very convenient for travelling either way on Rt. 1.

We are camping in a 43 foot motorhome for a month and are loving it. The section we are in is newer and the lots are very nice sized. They keep the park clean and quiet. If we could fit, I would even like the older part of the park. Pool is beautiful and the dock and beach extremely nice. I would recommend this to everyone.

We tented it at the jolly Roger and had a great time. They have a great pool and great access to the ocean. jolly Roger does not have a beach but that didn't bother us. Great place to stay and very quiet and very clean.

Land is precious in the Florida Keys and campgrounds need a lot of it. Of the three or four RV parks in Marathon, Jolly Roger is the best and largest.
Marathon is about halfway between the southern tip of mainland Florida and Key West. From here it's roughly 50 miles to the fun & games on Duval Street in the southernmost point of the continental US.
RV spaces at the Jolly Roger are not paved but surfaces are level and dry and the results of an afternoon cloudburst will quickly drain.
50-amp electrical service at our site was excellent, the breaker box in good condition. Water pressure is very good and the taste is satisfactory.
The Jolly Roger fronts on the Gulf of Mexico and waterside sites are pricey. Sites closer to the noisy overseas highway are less expensive.
A salt water pool, boat ramp, docking space for your trailered boat and a fishing pier are among the amenities.
The men's shower and restroom visited on a Wednesday morning was sparkling clean.
There were many dogs brought along by other guests here and for them there is the "Bark Park," a leash-free fenced area. Because there are so many other dogs wanting to use this facility, care should be exercised in walking them. Nose-to-nose negotiations can be testy.
While the Jolly Roger CG is strict on pet behavior and demands a $30 refundable deposit, they have NO rules against pit bull breeds being on the property.
Wynn-Dixie, Publix (Grocery), CVS and various fast food restaurants are located a short distance south on US-1.
There is no real beach on the Atlantic side of Marathon although there is a small sandy area known to locals as a nude beach on Coco Plum Drive. Walk to the left from a small car park.(Note that nudity is illegal here).
Spaces at the Jolly Roger are very tight...about eight feet between us and our friendly next door neighbors. Our awnings were almost touching.
We were on site #11, billed as a pull thru for a 44-foot coach. However, it would not be possible to depart this site without backing out due to a palm tree location.
Turns are extremely tight and two very friendly and helpful staffers will guide you expertly to your site. If you have a large coach you absolutely will require assistance on turns due to parked cars and trees.
Like everything else in the keys, the Jolly Roger campground is expensive, but competitive.
There is storage available for trailers, boats and motorcycles and the tent crowd seems to be having a good time. (One tent site immediately adjacent to the "Bark Park" would not be my favorite as there is a lot of foot traffic, four-footed and otherwise.)
Motel style rooms are also available.
Originally, we had a six-month old, paid-in-full reservation at the Keys RV Park about five miles further south. Arriving there after a long drive from Clewiston we were told that a site would not be available and the place would more accurately be described as a trailer park.
Frantic phone calls to the other campgrounds in Marathon led us to the Jolly Roger and despite being Christmas week, they were able to shoehorn us in to a small site. Two days later we were moved to a larger location. Love these people!

Room Tip: Sites close to US-1 (the Overseas Highway) are noisy. Sites on or close to the waterfront are much m...
