Went for an afternoon walk. Very interesting look at how it used to be. We saw a lot of parrot fish at the point. Watch for the spiders! I am a spider-phobe and I survived just fine:-) After your walk relax in the air conditioning and check out the museum.

We enjoyed a half day visit at the Crane Point Museum and Nature Center in early April. This is definitely for nature lovers and those who are not afraid of spiders! When you walk through the mangrove portion of the center, there are huge spider webs and spiders everywhere. My husband does not like spiders; therefore, he was on edge quite a bit and on the look out constantly. We were told by one of the naturalist that they are harmless. Some were pretty huge....you wouldn't want to walk into their web accidentally.

Thus said, it was still worth it to see the eco system of this part of Florida. We were disappointed we were not able to tour the house, but it was closed for restoration when we were there. Also, none of the additional activities were open the day we visited.

Liked the option to walk the grounds or ride in the golf cart bus. The paths are well maintained with pleanty of shady lanes to meander. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Beautiful scenery at the point. Scary spiders and crazy pelicans along the trails. Although it is an easy walking trail there is a little trolley that will transport you around the point if you cant walk. Places to sit along the way and some history to learn as well. Well worth the admission fee, which is monetary.

This was a great way to learn about the environment of the Keys. The nature trails are well marked with signs, but we took advantage of the golf cart guided tour which included stops all along the way as well as an excellent guide who really knew the history of the area and all about the various plants and trees. Has everything from a bird rehab center to a house built in the 1950s to a small house built in early 1900 along with the history of those people.
