We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and were not at all impressed. Sad to say that the smell, decor and rooms reminded us of visiting our grandmother in an assisted living facility. The whole experience was depressing.

I have stayed here twice, a week vacation each time - May 2012 and May 2013.

The hotel is right on the main highway, set back a bit for privacy - right on the water. There are hammocks around the small grounds where you can soak up some sun for a bit. There's a jetski & bicycle rental place next door. The bikes were great for riding to the grocery store and bars nearby!

There's an outdoor pool and hot tub out back right next to a little bar/restaurant. One night we were there they were doing a wine tasting - I think it was like $5 and they had cheese and fruit included! Loved that

The rooms are very dated, but they're clean and very functional - a good value compared to some tourists we met staying somewhere else.

The hotel is located on the main drag next to run down buildings and a trashy mexican reaturant. When you walk in, the lobby smells strongly of watermelon bubbilicious. They go overboard with the lobby flare. It looks like a 4 year old's birthday party. The decor is very dated. Our couch had a large visible stain on the main cushion. The kitchen looks like it is from 1981. The closet smelled like rotting seafood. There's no daily housekeeping. The clientele looks like a biker gang. Pool is nice but they play loud Top 20 music making it difficult to relax or read a book. If you're going to stay at Marathon, pay a few extra bucks to stay at Tranquility next door. Most importantly, don't fall for the hard sell and purchase a time share. They will ruin your life.

I work for Ascend Collection Hotels and was happy to see they added Blue Green Vacation Resorts to the list of hotels for employees. I was excited to see that The Hammocks was available during the time we wanted to visit the keys. We stayed here for 5 days/4 nights. Check in was great and the gentleman at the front took great care of my family and even got us an early check in, which was excellent due to the drive down. Working for a resort, I know its not always available so I was happy to hear we could check in. We reserved a 1 bedroom with kitchenette unit and was very pleased. It had everything you would need to make your own meals. There was a basket with popcorn, coffee, salt and pepper, and just a nice little touch of supplies. We didn't get a room with a view, so we didn't get to really enjoy the balcony as much as we would have liked, but after all, we did not book a room with a view.

The rooms are supplied with plenty of towels and pool towels for each person. There were iguanas around the pool area which are neat to look at. We did reserve a King bed in the room and ended up with 2 queens which was fine for us. They beds are a little hard to our liking, so we didn't sleep very well. Maybe we are just spoiled with memory foam.

We didn't try the restaraunt downstairs as we just made meals. There is plenty of stores in the area, Publix, Walgreens, CVS, Kmart, and more. My son brought his PS3 and forgot the AC adapter and we found a radioshack and purchased one for $11.

We did not know to go to the concierge at check-in and received a letter under the door the next morning. We attempted many times throughout the day and even the next but either we waited a much too long and left, or there was no one there. So we didn't get to talk with them.

Overall, I would say that we really enjoyed our stay and like that The Hammocks is really near everything. It's right in the middle of the Upper Keys and Lower Keys. This is definitely a resort we will go back too!

We love The Hammocks - this is one place we will add to our favorites! It's right in the middle of everything you could want to do or see. They recommended several places for dinner - we found that we enjoyed each one!
