If you don't like crowds and enjoy your privacy while on vacation, then this island is for you. I rented it through rentmyisland.com and it is an incredible place to stay. I brought my wife and two young daughters and they all loved it and didn't want to leave. You park on the mainland and the local contact, Rick, brings you across to the island in a 14' Carolina Skiff which is about 300 yards from the mainland. He shows you around the island and home and when you are done, you need to take him back to the mainland then you can return to the island. There are two sea kayaks for use, fishing gear and snorkeling gear as well. You definitely want to snorkel around the island as we saw barracuda, rainbow parrotfish, mullet snapper, and a bunch of other tropical fish I don't know the name of. We also saw a nurse shark (docile). My girls pretty much were fish most of the week spent there. We also did some fishing later in the day off the front boat dock and the rear deck. Buy some frozen squid up the street at BigK's Fishing center (next door to K-Mart). We caught all kinds of fish including barracuda (bring or buy fishing pliers and gloves) and let them go so everyone can enjoy them in the future. There is also a sunken boat (16'-18') in about 12' of water located about 50 yards off the rear deck where we snorkeled and kayaked to. It has all the tropical fish you can think of including two Queen Anglefish. Every where you look is an ocean view worth dying for. You can even sit out on the rear deck in the evening and watch the lightening storms 100's of miles out to sea. As far as amenities go, each bedroom is large and nicely decorated. The master bedroom has an excellent bathroom with a sunken jetted tub with a view to the ocean and the shower has two sides with glass to the exterior but with the privacy of the island that is not an issue. The main family room is spacious and comfortable along with the front screened patio where we played games during the day and evening. There is more but you have to experience it to believe it. We will be coming back for sure as it beats last years vacation in Maui which was the previous #1.
