We stayed at the Coconut Cay on April 4th. It has a quaint old time feel to it. Even though it is an older motel, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly! We felt like family. Our room had a patio/kitchenette overlooking the canal and the appliances (microwave/fridge) were new and in good working order! I would definitely recommend this resort! Our only regret was we didn't stay longer!

The staff here were lovely and the swimming pool and grounds were very pretty but our particular room really let this hotel down. We were in room 47 and we could not get in to begin with! After about five minutes trying we eventually discovered the technique needed!! The room itself was adequate for 1 night but it really does need upgrading! The bathroom was tiny with a loose tile that oozed water when you stood on it. The rooms were dark and you couldn't let much more light in. We paid quite a lot for the room and expected more, something cosy at least...

A friend and I visited this amazing piece of paradise on a three-day vacation from Fort Lauderdale. Steve and the staff were all about "service" and gave us so much hospitality! Can't believe the location of this property, PERFECT! Kayaks and Bikes included....this was awesome. Can't think of one complaint. We will see you all again in June.

The room was very clean and well stocked with toiletries. The refrigerator was cold with a freezer that worked great. The shower was roomy and had hot water every time we used it. The paddle boats, kayaks, fishing rods etc were all in good working order.
The only fly in the ointment was the king size bed (room 52). It was a torture rack. It felt like there was no mattress at all, just a large box spring. I went to a K-Mart and bought a large blow up matress for the water and placed it under the sheets and quilt, but it wasn't enough. I could only sleep for a few hours, then up the rest of the night. The second night I had to sleep in my rental car which s.u.c.k.e.d.!!
The Poor Quality Bed Ruined An Otherwise Great Place To Stay.
Luckily it was only for two nights.
PS: We were told the fee was $119.00 perday. Upon checking out it was $119.99 + A Bed Tax of $5.00 With A Bed Of That Sort, They Should Have Deducted $50.00 Off Our Bill!

Room Tip: Don't Get Booked Into Room Number 52 With King Size Bed. If You Do , You Will Regret It!

We are Austrians from Salzburg and have found that wonderful resort at the end of our stay at Marathon in Dec,2011: We returnet in February 2012 to Marathon and enjoyed to stay for a full month at Coconut Cay . We are so fond of the people there - Pam and Steve - (manager and owner) that we decided to go back as Austrian "snow birds" upcoming December 2012 and we´ll stay there until the middle of February 2013(70 days) . The arrangement of a large 2-bed- room and kitchen at the dock site is perfect for the two of us.The service cares for clean housing and is extremely supportive. We also enjoyed the beautyful pool aera and the open space around. Pelicanes, leguanes and also manatees are frequent visitors in front of the appartment. We ´ve booked our flights already and are looking forward to meet our "family" there. We stayed in a dockside room with kitchen(63). The room was very clean and comfortable and the attached kitchen was well equiped. The staff we met were all friendly and helpful. Very pleasant and peaceful outlook from the room to the moorings and waterway. Outdoor dining and seating area at the front of the rooms. You could easy stay longer periods in this accomodation. If staying longer periods though I would definately select the dockside accommodations and with the kitchen.
Breakfast over the road at the Wooden Spoon was very nice. Overall recommended.

Room Tip: For longer stays best option dockside room with kitchen
