I can spend my whole afternoon mentioning details on how things were here, but summing up, in just one word: Great! They were the nicest people, always worried about us being confortable and enjoying the place. The whole place is simple, but don't be mislead by that, is simple, but everything works fine. The views are great, and I guess it's difficult to find a seashore resort at this price tag and service quality. Summing up, great value, terrific service and nice views. 100 % sure to come back whenever possible.

We just returned from our 5th March staying at Gulf View Waterfront Resort in the Florida Keys.

We feel like we've found the perfect place to stay while in The Florida Keys. The owners are very friendly, the grounds are beautiful and they have a magnificent swimming pool. Everything was perfect!

If you want a slice of the old Florida Keys this is the place to stay. We look forward to our March getaway!

Room Tip: They offer both motel like rooms and units that have full kitchens. All are very nice and comfortab...

We stayed for 3 nights early March in the Mutton Snapper 1 bed apartment. We did not self cater so no comment about the amenities, but I think it was all there for anyone wishing to cook.
Owners were kind and helpful, attention at once with any queries. My only complaint is that the mattresses definitely need renewing and this should be dealt without delay - sleep was difficult.
The traffic is a non stop drone all night - everything has to be delivered throughout the Keys, but it is drowned out somewhat by the air con.
Gardens are lovely and the water front too. Coco the Parrot constantly shouted I love you!
I wanted to open the door and let him go free - my opinion as I don´t like to see caged birds or animals.
Dined at Sparkys restaurant not too far away and had some wonderful food. Grassy Key Outpost was a good stop for breakfast, very clean and good food.
Marathon is a great place to explore the Keys from.

This is the tag line of the Gulf View Waterfront Resort brochure and this is a perfect description. We have been to the Keys many times and enjoy staying in different places. The first thing that greeted us as we walked in to register was a welcome sign with our names on the board - such a simple touch but that set the pace for the 3 very enjoyable days that we recently spent there. Just little extras - the morning coffee for guests at the tiki hut, the well equipped kitchen if we wanted to do meal preparation, a hair dryer ( the last place we stayed in the Keys did not have one in the room!). Very friendly owners who also made our large dog feel very welcome. Got to meet really friendly guests as we had our happy hour on the deck outside our room. the grounds were very well kept with lots of different palm trees. Enjoyed the free use of the canoe and went out into the Gulf for my husband to practise fly fishing. The very clean room had a futon as well as a king bed - the bed was very comfortable but unless the futon was for kids the room would be too small for 3 or 4 adults. That and the "smell of vegetation" - this IS Grassy Key so we are used to that washing up on the shore - are the only small comments I would make. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this charming family owned and run resort to those looking for vintage Florida.

Room Tip: we were away from the highway and did not hear any road noise

This place is very old Florida - not fancy but a nice small resort at which to relax. The owners and staff were nice and helpful. The rooms were adequate, we split our stay between a small one bedroom and a larger two bedroom, I would recommend the larger room for the small difference in rates. The one bedroom was almost too small for two people. The kitchens are well equipped. The housekeeping was just ok, not a lot of attention to detail. We loved the pool, it was warm and clean and never crowded. We also like the hammocks and using the kayaks. The coffee in the morning and the restaurant within walking distance were bonuses. Even though the place was full on the weekend we were there, it still seemed like we had the place to ourselves.

Room Tip: Go with the larger room if you can afford to.

My husband and I loved this place. It is a small complex and very much in the old style. The owner was very helpful. We arrived late in the afternoon after driving all the way from Fort Myers that day. We were hungry and asked for a recommendation. She recommended the Hide Away Café in Marathon and even made a reservation for us. The restaurant was a small place on the beach with great service and food! As for the grounds, they were very nice. There is a nice pool, a yards with palm trees, hammocks, a small beach and boat dock, plus a tiki hut with picnic tables. There were complimentary paddle boats and kayaks for our use. In the morning the provide complimentary coffee and tea by 7:00AM in the yard under the tiki hut. Our room was very clean, included a small kitchen and eating area, two beds and a great view of the Gulf from our room . We also had a nice deck area with umbrella, table and chairs. The price was very reasonable for being in the Keys.We would definitely stay here again if we came to this area.

Having stayed in many motels, hotels, hostels, B&B's, homestays, etc... this is the second time I have ever felt motivated to make a recommendation. It is an old style place, clean and functional. I laid in bed while watching the sun shine on palm trees fluttering in the wind. My room was small, as was the price. The room amenities were well thought out with supplies for needs I would not have thought of. (like a freezer bag to take and use on the beach) Clean sand, small boats to use, a heated pool, grill, tables, lounge chairs, etc... hammocks in the shade tied to palm trees on a grassy lawn, the care in the landscaping reflects the care for the customer. Most important for me... it is a family run resort, pet friendly with no extra charges and the hosts extend their hospitality in friendship. Its a great spot for one night, a quiet get away, but I would need at least four nights to get my fill next time.
