We stopped off at Curry Hammock State Park campground in our rented RV for 2 nights during our tour in Florida. This was one of the best campgrounds we found - neat, tidy, private sites big enough for even the biggest RV. The facilities are neat and clean. There's a path from the campground direct down to the beach - nice and sandy to sit on, but there are rocks and seaweed just off-shore so not too good for swimming. And it's very shallow.

the public beach has good facilities and picnic tables with shade.

Oh and there's a great little restaurant nearby on the same side of Marathon - Sparky's Landing.
I've done a review - am amazed that others haven't found it - it's a bit out of the mainstream of Marathon town. Was recommended by one of the State Park guides. Thank you.

Curry Hammock Park is in Grassy Key which is "connected" to Marathon (closer to Key Largo). The park is small and quiet, but serves as a launching site for the Sand Bar between Curry and Duck. The big attraction here is parking for your tent, camper or RV - but check on your vehicle with the park just to be sure. I scoped out this place while on our last visit to Marathon, and we'll be back here with kayaks to paddle around the park and relax at the sand bar.

Nice beach for day visitors, beautiful views, and lots of wildlife to see...saw a HUGE Iguana cross the road in front of our car. Lots of birds to see as well.

If you are a regular camper in the Florida Keys like we are, you already know how difficult getting a reservation at one of the Keys four state parks can be. Curry Hammock often seems to be the easiest one to get into. It does not have the amazing beaches of Bahia Honda, nor the reefs of Pennekamp, but what it does have are among the largest, cleanest and nicest campsites of any state park in the Keys. The rangers and volunteers alike are great and hard working. There is a nice, natural beachfront, you can swim or just enjoy the view. We have read a few reviews where the beach was criticized; however, outside of Bahia Honda, it should be understood the Keys is not the place for beaches-afterall it is a large coral reef of its own. If you enjoy a smaller, well maintained campground with a peaceful and amazing scenary...Curry Hammock is a winner.

Husband and I went in early Sep 2013. We paid $6 thinking we would get a beach experience (the clerk said there was beach access). When we go to the parking lot, there were pavilions and benches, however, the "beach" was small and the access to the water was no "walk-right-in". You had to first traverse a lot of seagrass for about 20 feet before you got to navigable/swimmable water. We got right back in the car and left.
