Checking out today after three nights in room 77. three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and one half bath downstairs. Apartment style feel with full kitchen and living room, dining room table and great deck. Upstairs rooms are one master overlooking the bay inlet with white sand beach and nice gulf water.

Extremely clean when we checked in. Housekeeping is typical for condo style where they come in once a day to replace towels but do not do a full on cleaning. Towel service was a bit helter skelter and we were never quite sure what the beach towel situation was.

Room has a dishwasher and full washing machine/dryer for those longer durations. dishwasher was great as we had an infant with bottles.

Beach is decent, nothing like the water in other parts of the keys.

Restaurant on site is great and requisite cost priced. (expensive for the area but nothing out of the ordinary) They prepared fish caught on the trip and had good vegetarian options (not on the menu). Drinks were great. great wine list.

Room is priced fairly high but not bad for six people.

Having been here three times in the past year, is it any wonder that I would hesitate in writing a second review. For us, it was going back to see how consistent they are with their hospitality and or course how they really do live up to there name!

From being greeted like an owner by Otis , too not worrying about any necessities needed as he assured us we get all that was needed from a call to front desk! What made it different this go around, was the fact that Mike and Summer came to our door to make sure all is well! They were just checking up on us! Wow !

The Hotel is beautiful ! Grounds well groomed, the Keys are generally not known for the beaches so keep that in mind but never the less, they sure make it feel like your right on the water . Many past reviews on smell of the sea grass. If you read their handout , it will explain why - was not an issue at all for us. Pools excellent, water sports available ! The restaurant is rated number 1! My suggestion, from a value point of view, go to the Island Fish Co. You will not be disappointed as the food is great!

Their is also a general store across the the street from hotel. Excellent coffee and all your quick needs to stock in hotel.

If your making future plans to come here, study well your dates as they can make a huge difference value wise. Our 3 bedroom was our home away from home. On Mothers Day, it was priceless as it was a sure retreat for Mom and her 3 sons! We will be back for sure and maybe sooner then expected ! Thank you all for making our stay memorable !

If you want First Class Service in the Keys you are about to experience it if you stay here. I have traveled the Keys for 30 years and no establishment comes close to this wonderful resort. This resort looks like it's straight out of North Carolina with big porches on the living room level and bedroom level with relaxing Adirondack Chairs. Set back and enjoy the beach and Tiki Bar just footsteps away. The City Fish Market on 35th street is a must if want seafood just blocks away.
We plan to stay here every time head south to the Keys.

Room Tip: Room 37 is on the beach and 20 steps to the Tiki Bar. It's 3 bedrooms and a big living room with...

We stayed in the 1 bedroom hotel for 2 nights in February after disembarking from the cruise in Miami. Our main attraction to Marathon was to visit the Turtle Hospital right next door for my aspiring turtle doctor son. This hotel is definitely beautiful looking from the outside. The building which our room was located was basically like a townhouse with 4 separate rooms per building. Almost brand spanking new. However, the biggest issue was that these buildings do not have an elevator and the hotel also does not have a bellboy to help you carry your luggage up the flight of stairs.
Now, if you are traveling with an adult male or have small suitcases, or have no issues walking and climbing stairs, this is not an issue. This WAS an issue for us, however, since we had a few international size suitcases from the cruise and it was me, a single mom, traveling with a 6 year old.
Once I found out that our room was upstairs, I called the front desk to see if we can get our room switched to a downstairs room. The hotel was fully booked so that was not possible. Then I asked them if anyone can help me carry the suitcases upstairs and I got a very unreluctant answer of "weeeellllll, we don't have a bellman here on our property.... But maaaaaybeeeeee I can find someone who might be able to help you" Ok, thanks. Why didn't you offer that when I mentioned that I couldn't carry my 60lb luggages up the stairs and wanted to change rooms??? These rooms cost $400 a night. Where's your hospitality??
So they managed to find a repair person who can help.
So the next 2 days, I was concerned and dreading the check out process, when I have to carry down my luggages. Luckily, the front desk person on our check out day was a man, and he was very willing to help out.
As for the beach, it's not a swimmable beach so don't come here expecting Mexican or Hawaiian beach. My 6 year old loved the main pool and enjoyed it both days. We never ate at the restaurant but did take outs both nights and ate in our room. The room is very large and comfortable, however, it needs more furniture and lights. It had two comfortable large queen beds, a dresser and a desk with ONE chair. I had to eat standing up while my son ate. They also did not have any trashcan other than a tiny one in the bathroom. So we had to stack our restaurant container by the door until the next day.
All in all, the hotel was comfortable and the pool was perfect. It was a nice stay for our little family. I wouldn't stay here though, for $400 a night and for the lack of hospitality you get. Basically this little town doesn't have much to offer other than the turtle hospital and very few eateries and very few places to stay. This hotel makes a ton of money because they can take advance of the fact that there aren't any competition.

Room Tip: If you have trouble walking or have lots of heavy luggage, request a downstairs room. They have NO E...

My wife and I stayed in a two bedroom townhouse overlooking the putting green, pool and white sandy beach. The unit was well equipped and could easily accommodate a family of four (however the second bedroom is two small for a couple.)

There were two decks for sitting out and we used the upper for having a glass of wine in the evening.

The grounds are very beautiful. There are two pools (no lifeguards) and a lot of beach. Watersport rentals (kayaks, jet ski, etc.) are also available.

While we didn't get to eat at the main restaurant (Butterfly Café) we did enjoy lunch at the outdoor Tiki bar. They have excellent blackened fish tacos.

Here are a few of the negatives: While they claim to have wifi, it was very slow and unreliable. (I find it strange that really good hotels don't realize that customers expect good internet access.) Also, the housekeeping is fairly minimal. They make the beds, replace towels and empty the trash, but not much more. I understand they do a more thorough cleaning after four days.

Stayed in the beachfront units (#44) for a week. The house was nice and the layout worked well. This is one of the better places to stay in the Keys.

Tiki Bar has some good food, esp. the chicken quesadilla. The frozen daiquiris and coladas could use some major improvements though. There is no taste, and a nice frozen drink is something you look forward to in a tropical, hot place.

The pools are nice. The restaurant has great food, esp the grouper. Room service is lacking some days. Some days they came by to check if we needed anything, others we had to call.

They just installed a new barrier to prevent the sea grass from washing up on the beach. It appears that it is working well.

All in all it is a nice place to stay while in Marathon. For the Keys, its great!!

Room Tip: Room 44 is a 3/3 beachfront house. Probably the best beach front unit on the property.
