“Nice resort...decor can be updated.”
Reviewed 5 January 2012

The resort is in a great location, very close to Disney and plenty of eating and shopping locactions. The rooms were nice but the decor was 80-ish! Don't get me wrong... everything was clean and presentable. It could use an update for the cost. I was taken on a tour of the new high rise units and offered a timeshare....nah!
When I first booked I thought I would be in the new high rise unit because that was where they took me to tour the rooms. I was told at check-in that I was mis-informed!?!?!?

My husband and I went to Orange Lake Resort for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time!!! We absolutely loved our hotel room, plenty of space and very clean! We took full advantage of the kitchenette, since we were on a budget we were able to make our own lunch/dinner whenever we wanted too. We were only in Florida for six days and spent three of them on the resort alone; exploring all of the different "islands" and amenities they had to offer. We loved the fact that we didn't have to carry around any credit cards (on the resort) all we needed was our room key and our I.D.'s, this made it super easy since we spent most of our time in/by the pool. The prices at the restaurant's were very budget friendly and there always seemed to be a two for one drink special. We loved the atmosphere and how quiet it was on the resort, we'll definitely be going back soon.

nearly cancelled due to bad reviews - it's actually fine. Check in is 5 mins ( just say no to timeshare and tell them you want timeshare calls blocked and you will be fine). Here are main points:

Positives:

beautifully manicured grounds
excellent pool facilities - clean - very good for kids
very spacious apartments
friendly staff

negatives

apartments are dated (although clean)
in north village we were too far away from facilities to walk anywhere
did smell bad as per other reviews - but only for one evening

Loved this place, it is by far one of the best locations in Orlando, the only negative thing i can say would be that the beds are very uncomfortable. The staff at this resort are very polite and curtious. Will definately visit again.

Good day! Thank you for visiting Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort and for taking the time to share your experience with the TripAdvisor community. We’re happy to hear you say that you loved your stay and enjoyed your time with our courteous staff. Despite some of the mixed reviews on here, we do everything we can to go out of our way for our guests, and we’re glad some like you are taking note. The five stars you gave us for value, location, rooms and cleanliness go a long way! Thanks also for letting us know what you thought of the beds. We’re sorry they weren’t as comfortable as you’re used to at home. It’s difficult to get them just right for everybody, but that doesn’t stop us from trying :) Thank you, again, for your review. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back again soon! Cheers from across the pond!

We just returned from a 4-night stay at the Orange Lake Resort in Orlando. We had a 2 bedroom unit in the west village, which was extremely clean and spacious. Two adults and 3 children (2 teens and a 'tween) comfortably shared the space, though one child chose to sleep on the sofa in the living room. The kitchen was very well-equipped with all the implements you could want for basic cooking, and had granite counters. The washer-dryer was useful and worked well. Bathrooms were spacious and clean, including the jacuzzi-style tub in the master bath. The complex seems to be in good repair. We were in Orlando for a soccer tournament, so we wanted space to relax between games, and got that. If I were there for a vacation, though, I would be disappointed with the amenities. Swimming pools seemed small, and even in December the miniature golf courses were crowded. Restaurants and the Marketplace mini-mart were expensive for what they offered. The River complex pool looked fun but too small for the vast size of the resort overall. Security at the gate was rather over-zealous, but it's easy to get in if you tell them you are checking in. The architecture is extremely monotonous, but not hideous. Friends who were also staying said the golf was pleasant but not memorable. As a place to stay, a larger-than-average hotel, it was fine. If I went there with the idea that it would provide entertainment for several days, I'd be disappointed.
One nice touch was the array of starter goodies provided in the unit: dish soap, paper towels, laundry detergent, coffee. It was pricey but I'm sure a better deal could be had if you could be more flexible with your dates. Beware - they will try to get you into a sales session for the timeshare. And when you say no,they will call your unit to invite you yet again (to be fair, they offered $100 to come to the session). We were honest and said the only reason we were there was for a soccer tournament, and wouldn't want to vacation in Orlando otherwise, and they respected that and left us alone. Maybe those are the magic words? (Never a mention of a charge not to attend the sales pitch, btw.)
Service was friendly and prompt - we were missing a couple small items from our unit and they delivered them promptly, and phone inquiries to various departments were answered quickly and accurately. The people working here are very friendly and helpful, and the housekeeping is excellent.
The 7:05 AM shuttle to Disney cost about $20 each and was well worth the money.

Room Tip: Ask for an end unit so you don't have upper or lower neighbors - the end units are one-storey wi...

Hi there! It’s great to hear from a seasoned traveler. With 16 review contributions and 12 helpful votes, we’re sure our future guests will benefit from the insights you shared. Over all it sounds like you had a great time, and we can’t thank you enough for allowing us to host your family of five during the soccer tournament in Orlando. We hope you found our location just up the road from ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex convenient?!

As for your stay, we’re glad you found both value and comfort in our recently renovated 2 bedroom villa in the West Village. The full kitchen certainly makes it convenient (and affordable) to feed a family of growing teens. We are, however, a little surprised to hear you say that you were disappointed with the amenities. With 7 pools, a 1,200-foot lazy river, 4 golf courses, 72 holes of miniature golf, multiple game rooms, plus a FUN Zone with a bungee trampoline, world’s largest inflatable water slide, a rock climbing wall and more, most families rave about all there is to see and do. Perhaps with more time you could’ve experienced it all first hand and have something different to say? Either way, we’re glad it served you well in relaxing between the games. Thanks also for mentioning our guarded gate. It’s staffed 24/7 for the safety and security of our guests. Lastly, we wanted to thank you for describing the invitation to join us for the resort preview. It’s customary for us to invite all of our first-time guests to learn more about Holiday Inn Club Vacations, but as you pointed out there is no obligation to attend or charge not to….just a great incentive if you do!

Thank you, again, for choosing Holiday Inn Club Vacations and for including a few suggestions like the Mear’s theme park shuttle and room tip. It was a pleasure to serve you and we look forward to doing so next time you’re in Orlando. Until then…

We stayed for the second time in OL Orlando. This time we stayed in a studio villa in the main building (clubhouse). The villa is excellent for a family of four, but since we were five, I slept in the sofa sleeper. I do not recommend anyone with back pain to sleep in the sofa; not as comfortable as others I slept (Marriott Cypress Harbor and Hampton Inn). Other than that, it was great. The kitchenette is small, but enough to prepared a quick lunch.

Room Tip: The clubhouse villa is like staying in a hotel. There is a Walgreen nearby.

Great location 10 min from Disney but with lots to do without leaving the resort. Our accommodations very clean, the mattresses were excellent, the kitchen well stocked and the bathroom large with plenty of very plush towels. I had not been there in 18 years and my how the place has grown but the staff is as helpful as it was when the place was smaller. The amenities seem never ending. The kids went to Sea World and loved it, but opted to stay at the resort rather than go to Disney.

Room Tip: We had a one bedroom Villa on the corner with a screened in porch on River Island and My son had a t...
