Holiday Inn Club Vacations At Orange Lake Resort
Ranked #19 of 154 Hotels in Kissimmee
Reviewed 7 March 2014 via mobile

My family of 2 adults and 2 children age 6 and 9 stayed at the orange lake resort for 6 nights. I honestly was terrified from all the bad feedback I read specially about the insects and dirt inside the rooms and villas....well I couldn't believe how clean it was here are the Pros and cons.

Pros:
-very close to disney and parks
-single rooms are very comfortable and with a kitchenette and a small dinning table.
-large pools, warm water, towels always available, plenty of activities for adults and children
At extra cost of course but anywhere you go there will always be extra charges for Seadoo or Mini Pot or similar.
- close to shopping (orlando outlet about 15min away)
- restaurant surrounding the resort:
Longhorn steak house which had excellent service, Applebee's, Olive Garden, Panera bread (for breakfast).
- more shopping across the street: Target, Ross and TJ max.
- service was excellent. The one time I called for the AC at 12:30AM they told me they will do their best to send someone quickly cause it's late at night and they are not fully staffed at that time, the guy came within 10min.
-we booked 3 nights at the regular rooms in the same building as the main lobby (building 5300) excellent location, we also checked out after 3 nights and checked in again at the condos (time share), front desk was very accommodating for checking us out and in at the other unit at the same time (8:30AM) and we didn't have to wait till check in time around 3pm.
-Condo or time share unit in building 8600 unit 86842, excellent view on disney fireworks, very large 2 bedrooms unit and 2 baths, 3 TV, full kitchen, washer and dryer, dinning table, plenty of room for up to 10 people.

Cons:
A bit pushy for the time share part, we had to say No many times at the presentation and there was always another offer to make us say yes, they even switch guys we had 3 different men who were very nice but each trying to convince us with a sale. It seemed like a good offer but being pushy like that will always make me and my husband back off from any sale.
At the end when they realized we were not buying anything, the original sales person didn't even shake hands with us and it showed he was upset. :( not very professional we thought.
- extremely large resort so u need a car to drive around or take resort shuttle.

Overall it was a great experience, I would return for sure and bring. Families and friends.

We loved it, stayed there 10 days and had so much fun we will be going there every year from now on. The only thing that went wrong was on our last day and that was breakfast at the legacy grill was awful. We got dirty dishes the Buffett was cold and service was not good at all. It was way over priced for what u get. We will not be going there again, but other then that it was a great vacay. Staff was very nice my whole family loved it,and it was so close to Disney.

Our family stayed at Orange Lake in January. We were really excited about it as we were considering timeshare. Our first impression upon check in wasn't the greatest. It was super busy and they did not have enough staff to support the check in crowd. It took well over 45 minutes before we got to the counter. With 3 young children in tow this was an inconvenience. Second downfall was that we had requested several accommodations and although I understand a request is just that it was disappointing for a first time impression to not have any met.We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa which was very spacious. We liked having 2 bathrooms for our large family and laundry facilities in room. The villa wasn't as clean as I would have liked. There were items left from the last guests in cupboards and under the beds. The ceiling fan was broken in the living room and the electric can opener was very old and rusted. The worst part of our villa was the door leading to the covered balcony. The door had a set of long blinds and at the bottom there were sharp metal pieces , sharp like knives , no exaggeration sticking out. They weren't noticeable to us until our 2 year old son was injured by them. We immediately called the front desk to have them removed which they did. The hotel did not follow up with us about his injury and didn't seem to care at all that he got hurt. We wrote the hotel a letter about our experience and they responded to us that a representative would be in touch. No one ever got in touch with us. We will not be returning due to the lack of customer care or concern. We definitely wrote Orange Lake off as a potential to become owners.

My Family and I stayed at this huge resort August 2013 at a 2 bedroom villa/condo in the East Village. The place allows privacy whilst have lots of activities for my kids 9 and 6. The kids loved the lazy river , the hippo slide , the arcade, miniature golf.... they made friends with kids at the pool and had the most wonderful first experience in Orlando .... I hear about it everyday. Our rooms were clean , spacious , comfortable, like a home away form home. We did not get to do half the activities the resort offered as it was our first time to Orlando and Disney so the Parks took up most of our time, but we will certainly come back to Holiday Inn Club Vacations for many years to come !!! When we left the shopping mall opposite was almost complete, which is a fantastic convenience for mom's who are trying to get in some shopping while on vacation , Target was opened, Ross and Marshalls sign was up so it should be opened by now. The convenience of the restaurants ( Apple Bees , Sizzlers , etc) being close by was excellent also.

I honestly can't understand the negative reviews. Don't believe them! I read through all these reviews for months ahead of our trip and was getting nervous due to some. We stayed in the North Village and our 2 bedroom condo was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. I have to assume some of the nitpicking negative reviewers would never be happy (you know like those people you go out to dinner with and they always have something to complain about - urghhh). This is not a 5 star hotel people - it is a condo/timeshare resort. The pools are amazing (I don't even know how many there are - we loved the North Village pool, it had a great mix for kids and adults and didn't really make it to the others except the River Island area. That seemed more suited for teenagers in my mind. During check in, we kindly told the sales people we were not interested and that was that. BTW - the phone didn't "ring off the hook" as some people say. Maybe once in the morning and once in the afternoon - is that really too much to bear??? We went to MK and AK a few days - that drive could not be easier. Take the toll road that runs along Orange Lake - it took us about 10 minutes to get the MK from there! - I will definitely return to Orange Lake.

It's too bad that everyone focuses on the one negative but this wasn't some simple broken lamp. Everynight when we came back to the room there were multiple large roaches crawling around in the living room. To their credit they sent an exterminator and waived the resort fee but even after treating the room the roaches returned again and again. The rooms were spacious and well appointed, everything worked (appliances) but the management and staff didn't communicate very well and we were disgusted with the constant invasion of pests. Many years prior we had stayed here and had a lovely time. Perhaps they've cut back on maintenance because we stay at other time share properties and have never seen that many bugs (BTW we live in Boca Raton Fl so we know that pests can be controlled)

Room Tip: Ask the staff for a room that doesn't have cockroaches

Hello there, Steve. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, we appreciate your feedback very much. Although we’re pleased that you felt your villa gave you the room you needed, we are disheartened to hear that your visit did not live up to your expectations and the vacation experience that we strive to offer. All our villas are routinely treated to prevent unwelcome visitors from coming in contact with our guests. As you know, Florida’s temperate climate and many other factors attribute to the population in our area. We are glad to hear that our staff attempted to rectify the situation by offering a goodwill gesture but again we apologize for all inconveniences you faced. We hope to see you again in the future to show you how fun vacationing with us can be.

My family and I just stayed here in a 2 bedroom condo in February and we loved it! The condo was very spacious, clean, and had all the amenities that your own home would have. The grounds are kept spotless and the views of the golf course are lovely. My 6 year old son loved it here! With all of the water parks, restaurants, mini golf and many other activities that they have we would gladly come back here and recommend that any other family do the same. The location is great! Right beside Animal Kingdom and very close to all the other theme parks as well as restaurants, grocery stores and malls.
The only negatives I can think of are that they out us in a " 2 bedroom villa", which is misleading as you think it is a villa but it is a condo, let's get that strait, as well as they do push the time share at you the minute you check in which I did not like as well as calling me the next morning after I checked in at 8am to sell me time share!! Not impressed by that, after I told them we were not interested, then the calls stopped and everything was fine, and we would gladly stay here again as everything else was just great!

Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and we’re pleased that you had an enjoyable stay. Our resort may be larger than a traditional property, but we really try to offer as many activities for everyone so there’s enough fun to go around. It’s great to hear that the location of the resort also added to an overall stress-free vacation. We are a vacation ownership property, so we offer the opportunity for all guests to hear about the Club, a better and more flexible way to vacation. We apologize if you were disturbed at all by this and hope to see you again soon.
