Check in: Check in is at 4pm, and they supposedly do not let anyone check in early. Not a problem; they had a LOT of agents working the front desk, so we were able to check in relatively quickly despite the large number of people checking in. There was also someone walking around with a tray of complimentary cups of beer. Yes I was given the option to do the time share presentation, and yes I declined. Surprisingly they didn't push any further than that.

Check out: Express check out is very easy. You just leave a voicemail with your name/room number/time of departure, and drop your keys in a box on the way out (which is right at the exit to the resort). No wasted time going back to the front desk.

Room: We initially were placed in one of the 1 story villas, but it didn't have a large stand alone Jacuzzi tub which we wanted (on our honeymoon), so we called resort services to see if we could get moved. 20minutes later we were in a completely new unit, which had everything we had requested. We were in the Tennis villas (about 6 stories), and the rooms were amazing. Two bedrooms (1 master room and 1 with 2 smaller beds), a master bathroom (which was huge/nice), guest bath, large living/dining room and full kitchen. The balcony was enclosed by a netting to prevent bugs from getting in, and the balcony itself was large as well. The kitchen had full assortment of plates, utensils, cups, cookware, etc.

Pool(s): We went to two of the on-site pools (there are a lot more). We went to the pools near the registration building, which took forever to find pool chairs due to it being so packed, and a couple days later we went to the River Island pool (lazy river). Their pool rules are a large reason I knocked off a star.

1) They charge an excessive amount of money for tube rentals. And they take their tub rentals so seriously that they pay 2-4 employees to sit around the sides of the lazy river and watch for people using tubes without wristbands. If they see one, they pull the tube away with a stick.

2) They have two poolside bars, but then don't let you bring your drink (which is in a plastic souvenir cup w/ lid), into the pools. Doesn't make any sense at all. The drinks themselves were, as with most things at this resort, overpriced.

Resort: As a whole, there's a lot to do at this resort. Just be prepared to pay for it all. Practically nothing is included in your stay other than your room, the pools, and a few activities. Mini golf, tube rentals, food delivery, etc is all extra. But there are several restaurants on site (food is mediocre at best but at least it's close).

Overall: We had a decent stay, which would have been much better if not for the silly fees for practically everything, and the ridiculous pool rules. We will probably try a new time share resort next time we are in the Orlando area.

Room Tip: Request what you want. This resort is huge so if you want a lake view, a pool view, a Jacuzzi, a new...

Hello and thank you for taking the time to review your recent family vacation with us. We appreciate hearing from all of our guests about their time spent on vacation with us. We are glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay. However, we are disappointed to hear that you are not confident that you would return to stay with us again in the future. We apologize that our pool rule enforcement was not to your liking. The safety and security of our guests is our top priority and as such these rules are in place to ensure that everyone has a safe and fun vacation. You are correct that our resort is not all inclusive. However many amenities such as waterslides, interactive splash pad, kids golf free program and many extras are included in your resort stay. Some of our premium amenities like miniature golf, poolside massages and our award winning golf courses are available for an extra nominal fee. We would love the opportunity to host you and your family again in the future to show you how much fun vacationing with us can be.

This should be the standard for Gold Crown Properties. Multiple pools, golf courses, restaurants, you name it. Could see the Disney fireworks at 10 pm from our East Village location. Taking a walk around the grounds is like walking thru a sub-tropical forest and zoo (Gators, Herons, Egrets, Sandhill Cranes, Lizards, Etc.) If you have never stayed here and you're going to the Orlando, you should try it !

Room Tip: West Village is the least favorite of ours. Try East Village for a quiet locale, River Island to be...

Our 3rd stay at Orange Lake. Great accommodations and the grounds are well kept. Golf during the day or night. We had a issue with a lock but one phone call and 40 minutes later it was fixed. Lots to do on site and security made you feel confident to allow your kids a bit of freedom! !! Works for the family vacation but works for the single life!!

We were offered 3 nights/4 days in a deluxe villa with two bedrooms, access to extensive water parks, golf, etc all on site. When we went to check in we were told that our reservation was cancelled the say we made it. They said they called my husband's cell and emailed his email, but the call log and email log showed nothing. The girl at the check in desk was not helpful, just stared blankly at me and said that there was nothing she could do because they had no vacancy. We went to the car and I called the customer service # given to us at the time of reservation. They put me on hold for 15+ minutes. Then they wanted to put us in another hotel. So long story short, we ended up at another holiday Inn on the other side of Orlando, we're still asked to participate in their timeshare presentation in exchange. Hard to have an open mind to their sales strategies when you feel cheated and deceived walking into it. At the hotel we were put into, numerous other families were also given the same "situation" and we're promised the resort and got a less than stellar hotel room across town instead. Zero interest in ever returning there as a guest. This resort has literally destroyed any chance that we would ever return to Orlando, period. Classic bait and switch marketing at its finest.

I am Hilton Club vacation owner, and opted for this location as something "different" from the Hilton resorts. I should have stuck with Hilton.
Upon driving in, the resort is quite impressive and very LARGE and expansive. Mostly due to the golf courses I'm sure.
Check in was very busy, but quick. The first thing that really put me off is my family is there for vacation, NOT to be approached by salesmen. I've played the vacation club "owner" game plenty of times, and have no desire to do so for now. Right after check in, they tell you to get with this guy that is standing right behind you to get your "$25" voucher validated. Next thing you know you're at a desk where they try to get you to sit for an hour to listen to their sales pitch. They are very insistent. After 9 hours on the road, we just wanted to get to our condo.
Two more days of phone calls from them and they finally stopped. I was hoping for just one more call from them, because I was really ready to let them have it. The thing that really irked me was I had already used up 4000 of my club points for this place, and they knew this.
Oh well, lesson learned. There is a lot to do there, and like I said, it was a very large place. Very busy with lots of people. I kind of got the impression that we were on a land based cruise ship. If you want peace and quiet, this isn't the place to go.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are disappointed to hear that although you enjoyed your stay you would not consider another stay with us. Our resort is family-friendly and although large, is broken up into four villages so that our guests can always find the room to relax that best fits their vacation style. We appreciate you letting us know your thoughts on our check-in process and what we can do to improve it. Should we have to opportunity to host you again in the future, we look forward to showing you a great family-friendly and fun vacation.

We just returned from our annual spring break vacation yesterday; this year, we stayed at Holiday Inn Vacations at Orange Lake. I toured Orange Lake almost 10 years ago and fell in love then but could never afford to vacation there. This year, while booking a stay through IHG the company that owns Holiday Inn, I was offered a 4 day 3 night stay at Orange Lake for $299 with a timeshare tour so of course I jumped on that! The resort is beautiful yet massive, if you want exercise then that's the place because there is a lot of walking if you choose not to drive to the amenities. The only issue I had with the resort was that the kid facilities are not close to the units unless you are in River Island where the pool and slides and restaurants are right outside. At my timeshare tour I wasn't pushed nor forced to purchase anything. Like any sales pitch, they will ask you several times if you're interested, I said no and they kept making the deal sweeter. This doesn't mean that they are pushy or overbearing, they are doing their job so calm down lol. I did not purchase a timeshare only due to my current financial situation but if everything was how it should be financially, this would be the place. The way Holiday Inn does timeshare is very different than other resorts (I.e. Westgate Resorts). With Holiday Inn, you aren't purchasing one week per year, you are purchasing points where you can use them at any Holiday Inn Vacation Resort for as many weeks as you choose. My family and I are already preparing to return either later this year and/or definitely next April for Spring Break!

just returned from 9 night stay - was a bit worried about reviews to do with time share. we checked in and were sent to another desk to have our discount voucher 'validated' - this is where they try to sell you a pass for the mini golf, lazy river tubes etc. i said we had bought all our tickets in uk and wouldn't have time to stay on resort - they reduced price by half - but we just said we would think about it. think they could see we were all tired and weren't going to have any success with us so that was it! got to our villa in the east village - really big, very clean and everything we needed. we unplugged the phones as suggested on other reviews and had no problems at all. the resort is massive and you could drive for 2 miles before leaving the place, however 15-20 mins from universal, seaworld, aquatica etc so fine for us. only ate on resort once at legends (on night of arrival for quickness) but took ages and was very average. overall very happy with everything.
