We facilitate a large conference every year in Orlando and use the Gaylord Palms as well as the Marriott World Center for this venue. We do this every year in January.
Here is my personal experience of this year.
First and foremost is food, it has deteriorated significantly in the past year.
I have had food in almost every restaurant in the hotel during my 9 day stay.
I have also been served banquet style food, as we cater to our 16,000 attendees.
I was ashamed that we offer this food to our constituents. We spend as much on food in the Gaylord as we do in the Marriott, but the the quality of food is worlds apart and the Gaylord is way behind.
Wreckers is ok as is the Steakhouse.
The boat looks nice and has great ambiance, but the food is pricey and mediocre.
If you want to spend 30 dollars on breakfast the garden is ok.
My room was nice. As was the all newly decorated suite on the 8th floor.
But, i have not seen as many roaches in this hotel since january 2013.
Bathroom in convention center, the hospitality suite on the 8th floor, the hallways on the 4th floor. I have seen a roach just about everywhere, except in my room. Thank god.
I have been in the Gaylord many times, this was the first time that things have gone south.More
