Stayed in the Little Mermaid rooms in June 2014 and loved it! Pool was nearby, but walk to the main hall was a little far. Only went to the Big Blue Pool once and didn't make it to see the Cars section at all. We've stayed at the other Values before and this was the most "Disney" of them all. Loved the theming of the rooms--Little Mermaid from top to bottom! Housekeeping was great and there was plenty of parking.

This was our first stay at the Art of Animation Hotel. After reading some of the other reviews I was a little concerned that the four adults and one teen in our party may not fit in the family suite that we reserved. The room was a little tight, but were able to make it work. In the main living area there is a Murphy bed, a foldout couch-bed, and a bathroom as well as a kitchenette with a microwave and small refrigerator. There is a second bathroom in the master bedroom.

Our room was located near the front of the Cars building. There are two pools near this building, and it is in walking distance to the main building and transportation pick-up area. The Landscape of Flavors food court has a lot of choices and is reasonably priced. There is a lot for kids to do at this hotel in addition to the pool, including a large arcade.

As is usually the case at a Disney hotel, the customer service was excellent. With the exception of the tight accommodations, we really liked staying at this hotel. In my opinion, this room is perfect size for four people, especially younger children.

Room Tip: This is a big complex. To avoid walking a long way to eat or catch a bus, try to find a room close...

We stayed in the Little Mermaid section in June 2014. For the first part of our vacation, we were in a very posh resort on the Universal Studios property. When we entered our room at AoA, our 6 year old daughter said, 'this hotel is WAY better than the last one!'. In a nutshell, the theming is fantastic, especially for younger kids. The room was cleverly designed to make the most of the space. The pools were great, very clean and lifeguards did a good job. Yes, it's a value resort- but if you're going to spend most of your time in the parks, and you're not looking for an upscale experience, the AoA is perfect. The rooms are clean, comfortable and fun for the kiddos. The cafeteria is chaotic and always busy- but they do have a good selection of food, including vegan/vegetarian options. If you're doing the dining plan, the cafeteria has lots of breakfast items, such as muffins and cereal, that count as snacks- a great way to stretch your meals credits. Lots of people complain about how spread out it is- but honestly, the walk from the Little Mermaid section to the main hall wasn't bad at all. Our only suggestion would be for the resort to put drinks stations in by the pools- it's inconvenient to walk all the way up to the cafeteria just to grab a cup of coffee or soda. The room itself was just fine, the beds are on the small side and the bathroom was nice. Not loads of extra room, but for our family of 4 it was much better than we expected!

Room Tip: The Little Mermaid section- ask for a room in building 7 with a lake view. Pool view rooms might be...

My family very much enjoyed our stay at Art of Animation. The theming and landscaping are amazing! From one section to the next, it's just so whimsical. We had a Little Mermaid room (standard room) and it was quite nice. It's the section of the resort farthest away from the main lobby so it's a bit of a walk, but not bad. A 5-8 minute walk at best. The room itself was cute (the Little Mermaid rooms open to the outside, but the other three sections have indoor hallways). A great "value" sized Disney room which immerses you without overwhelming you. The pools were fantastic, especially the "Big Blue".

I stayed here Friday-Sunday and overall had a good stay. The resort décor is very beautiful and fun to look at! I enjoyed walking around the resort and seeing all the different movie props. I stayed in a Little Mermaid room and it was soooooooo far from the front of the property where everything is. I could walk another minute and be at Pop Century (no seriously). Keep that into consideration if you have kids! Luckily, it was just 4 adults so we didn't mind too much but I would feel bad for families who needed a quick drink or something. The customer service was pretty good-- I've stayed at Disney resorts where it wasn't so good so that was a plus. Lastly, the beds in the little mermaid rooms were very small! I had a great time, but most likely will stay somewhere else on Disney property next time. The main reason why I would stay somewhere else is because for $300 a night, you can stay at way nicer Disney hotels. This resort resemble the all stars resorts in the layout and size of the rooms, so why spend so much more?

This is an economy resort but we stayed because we needed a family suite. Not big enough if you have someone who snores. The kitchen was not really a kitchen but we had the dining plan so it was ok. Like everything disney it was nice but if you want to be pampered dont stay in economy. It might be better to get two seperate rooms in a moderate resort. Just a thought. However we love disney and my ten year old loved their pool.

Our kids 6 & 8 loved the Little Mermaid room we stayed in and the various pools around resort! We could watch the nightly fireworks right from our room if we wanted to. It was awesome! We would definitely stay again.
