Vacation Village at Parkway
Reviewed 8 May 2014

After reading the reviews online, I was very nervous about staying here. Taking advice from the other reviews, I requested a newer building (ended up in Building 17) and a high floor (unfortunately, was only placed on the fourth floor). Our unit was great - newer furniture, comfortable bed, full kitchen and a washer/dryer. The pool area looked wonderful. We never used it, however, because we spent nearly all of our time in the Disney parks. Check in was a breeze and we were able to check in early (about 1:00 in the afternoon instead of 4:00). The location can't be beat - you are just minutes to the park and surrounded by shopping, restaurants, etc. My only complaints were the parking (parking lots were incredibly crowded) and the noise from the unit above, which involved the family above scooting their dining chairs across the tile floors at all hours of the day and night. We were NEVER asked to attend a timeshare presentation. Would definitely stay here again!!

Room Tip: Request a newer building and a higher floor.

Stayed for one week with my husband and 2 young children in building 16. I was a bit nervous about what it would be like but this place was fantastic!! Suite was spacious, clean and modern. Pool was beautiful and not too crowded. Conveniently located to restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, disney, etc. We will definitely be back with more family and friends! Shout out to Larry at the front desk for the warm welcome at 1am and booking us in the perfect suite for our family!

We got a 2 bedroom unit in Building 4. In the past we had a 1 bedroom unit in building 16(?). Both of these units were fantastic. Building 4 was near more children and the community pool and we walked the walkway that everyone posts pictures of. It is between building 4-6 if you are looking for it. The kids enjoyed the kids night out and I enjoyed having 3 hours to enjoy a dinner near by and a few hours of no- "mom, look at this!" I enjoy the mom look at this but a minute to swim in the pool, enjoy the hot tub and eat a dinner with out their enthusiasm was also much enjoyed. The kids had fun and the resort was nice, informative and prepared when we dropped the kids off so even though I was nervous and only went to the nearest restaurant, I felt they were safe. The room was well stocked. I made milk shakes for the kids in the blender, we ate a few simple dinners in the room. Daughter picked the pull out couch and my son had the bed in the single bedroom unit leaving us a full living room space to enjoy. The studio only had a hotplate and if we had just taken that space we would not have been happy in it. The large 1 bedroom or the 2 bedroom unit is the way to go at this resort. I blocked off the balcony in the secondary room where the kids were by backing a chair up to it and telling the kids by no circumstances were they to use that door. I was a little nervous but they were good and never went out on it. They only used the one in the primary unit. My daughter would joke- mom, this place is so big I keep having trouble finding my bed. We very much enjoyed having the extra space as we were travelling via car for a couple of weeks for our tirp and would have been a bit stressed if we could not have gotten some space from one another as needed. Being able to watch your own tv show and make a snack if you wanted one made for some much needed down time when were were not at the parks, etc. There is a Publix and a 24 hour CVS near by as well as a 24 hour Starbucks.
Checking in was simple and there was no pressure. The Arabian nights show is no longer. They have closed it. The kids had fun in the pool with other kids and the temperature of the pool was fantastic. They exchange your towels and lightly tidy your room once a week. I wouldn't stay here with out a car. It is too far away from everything. It is a large resort and sometimes you run into people playing their car radios way to loud when coming back from the parks or people being loud on their balconies but the units themselves are very quiet and mostly you only hear some doors opening or closing. The Starbucks down the road is always unbelievably busy in the mornings- so plan an extra 30+ minutes if you are looking to go there or buy a pound and use it in your room. Use the extra time on I-4 which is nuts now a days. I have stayed here in the past and will likely stay here again in the future. It is closer to disney, kinda far from Universal. Reasonable from Sea World, it's right off I-4. Comfortable beds too. Celebration is a perfect place to get away from the amusement transient feeling of the city if you are looking to play in a nice park, walk around a man made lake or eat dinner outside. We enjoy Vacation Village Parkway more than many of the resorts we have stayed in (in cities where we are not staying in our rooms all day). Although- you could spend a day in these apartments - they are big enough and well enough appointed. The washer/dryers are a bit small and "quick". Bring good laundry soap and be prepared to do small loads-laugh.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the activity center

Thank you for your great review of your time at Vacation Village at Parkway. We’re happy that your family enjoyed the room amenities and unique floor plan of our spacious units. Our resort features a floor plan of two suites that have a common foyer with separate locks for each suite. This unique combination is very popular because it offers all the comforts of home with maximum privacy for larger parties. Fast and courteous check-in, and checkout process was a dream. Fun activities for all. Tropical landscapes featuring a lush tropical poolside with a very serene and tranquil feel. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever experienced away from home. Everything was nice and clean and well-maintained. They really strive to make your stay enjoyable and their ultra accommodating. Whenever we had a need they were there in less than 5 minutes more so, in less than 2. Ideal location with easy access to local stores and attractions. Free shuttle service provided to area attractions. Overall excellent value would do it again and would highly recommend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very comfortable stay. great value for money, the reception and the apartments are very far away and guests staying without their own vehicle should be complete avoid. Very well placed right in the center if you plan to visit the theme parks. The room we stayed was well done up and we even had a Jacuzzi in our room (1 BHK) and kitchen was also well functioning. The complex have shuttle services to theme parks (I would recommend to avoid) unless you would like to stand all through the journey. The shuttle bus service also takes you to the supermarket and you could pick up stuff if you plan to cook at home. Pools are big and have temperature control. We had a great time staying there and would like to come back. The only negative of the complex is that its very big and if anything is not functioning it would take ages to service and rectify. The check In process would be the most unplesent process as some of the staff have to refer to their seniors every thing and looks like not well rained or may be we were very unlucky.

My family and I are staying in a 2br lock out unit which is the best part of the stay. Our adult son has a one bedroom side to himself and we have a one bedroom unit to ourselves, that is the only good thing. This place does not have a 'resort feel' to it at all. It's like a huge hotel and nothing like other resorts we've stayed in. Most other resorts have the hustle and bustle of activities and people having a good time. There is none of that here. There is no bike rental ,no mini golf, no restaurants, no tiki bars....nothing. It's a hotel on steroids.

We went down for what we were told at check in for a complimentary breakfast, tour of their new 'model' and then to do a survey of what we saw. DONT BE FOOLED, this is a full blown timeshare presentation. Had we known, we still would have gone but we would have prepared for the extended time period we had to be captive. Our sales person Sandrine was pleasant enough but the person who took over when we told her NO, was Yousef. We are owners at another property of a 'week' and not points.........he sat down, looked at the sheet that showed what we owned, literally SLAMMED the folder shut and told her we didn't qualify and huffed off. If I were in the market for a time share dude, YOU blew that deal right out of the water, never would I purchase at such a lack luster property to begin with but if there were any inclination of purchase it would not be here solely because of his attitude. Sales tactics are tacky. It's quite amusing though when you own a timeshare and you know more about timeshare than the sales personnel do......i

Thank you for your review of Vacation Village at Parkway. We’re sorry that our resort didn’t meet all of your expectations and that the presentation didn’t appeal to you. Many do appreciate the information they receive when they attend and will leave as a member of our family of owners. Like you, these new owners will experience the benefits of timeshare ownership and will travel to exciting destinations at a fraction of a cost than what most consumers would pay. We hope that you consider staying with us again so that we may have an opportunity to exceed all of your expectations.

We are currently staying at this resort. We just got our power restored after a 6 hour outage. This resort obviously does not have any emergency and/or safety protocols in place. After 6 hours, we still did not have a new room assignment and every employee was giving a different story. Some employees told us to go to our rooms and wait for someone to come, as they were assigning new rooms floor by floor, from the top down. After 4 hours of waiting, we went downstairs to see if we were forgotten about. BTW, there were no emergency back up generators and even the exit signs were unlit. Thankfully we had our own flashlight since it was pitch black. When we got downstairs, they were giving out keys to people who were on floors below us. Even after all these hours, employees were giving differing stories. We will not stay here again. If the resort can not handle a power outage in 2 buildings in a 19 building resort, how would they handle a really dangerous situation like a fire or a hurricane? This is supposedly a Gold Crown resort that trades through RCI.

We are very sorry for the experience you had at our resort. Upon investigation of your review, the general manager at the resort advised us that the transformers in Building 18 & 19 suffered a lightning strike, which knocked out all power for several hours. Of the 224 keys in that building, 212 were occupied so there were hundreds of people that had to be relocated. A team of employees was on hand to assist with moving guests so that everyone could be accommodated as quickly as possible. All employees were instructing guests to pack for one night in case the power remained out. Unfortunately, many guests were getting incorrect information from other guests. The building was successfully evacuated without any other concerns and power was restored near midnight. Relocated guests were allowed to return to their original unit the next day if they chose to go. Your experience does not reflect the high standards we pride ourselves on and we regret that now you have such a negative impression of our service. We do try to make every guest as comfortable as possible and we’re truly sorry that we failed to achieve that goal during your visit. We appreciate your review and we regret that you will not stay with us again. We hope that you will reconsider but if not we ask that this experience does not deter you from visiting Orlando in the future.
