“Wonderful place to stay with large family..clean, comfortable and inexpensive!”
Reviewed 14 December 2010

We stayed here Dec 10-12, 2010 for our daughter's wedding at the Royal St. Cloud Country Club/Royal Crest Room. We had a very clean townhouse unit 2/2 Loft. It had plasma tv's (2) and 1 tv in master suite. It had fully stocked kitchen, living room and a dining room. We had extended family and bridal party stay here. Each 2/2 accomodates six people. There are two pull out couch beds, Queen bed in Master Suite, and two twin beds in second floor bedroom. The place had heated pool, jacuzzi, movie rentals in the office, basketball court and a playground that our younger grandkids enjoyed to unwinde after the rehearsal. I would highly recommend this place as it is not only inexpensive, but nice to be able to have a the townhome when you have lots of family! It was perfect for our needs!!

I read the previous reviews a few weeks before our trip and I was worried that the Villas were no good.... My wife and I decided to atleast give it a shot and if we didn't like it we would just stay somewhere else once we got down to orlando.... My hope were very low after reading all the negative reviews... I was pleasantly surprised when got there... The place gronds were very clean and the staff were more than gracious... We checked our villa out room 1319 ( 3 Bedroom 2 bath villa ) ... It was very clean, spacious & quiet.... We had absolutly no problems with the Villas at Fortune Place... It is about a 15 - 20 min ride to Disney depending on the traffic & Construction ( They are repaviving the roads ) but it is an easy route ( Boggy Creek Rd to Osceola Parkway right into Disney.... My family and I would gladly stay here again.... I guess my mother was right when I was growing up. Don't believe everything you hear or read... There was no loud music , bedbugs or mold smell.... I am glad I kept my reservation.

If you have a reservation here i would cancel and save your time and money. This resort is located in a bad part of town.Everything closes by 10 even on a Fri. night. Our condo stunk like mold, was filthy with something that looked like blood on the side of the frig. The microwave, spare bathroom light, ceiling fan, main bathroom sink, all broke. My son slept on the couch the one night we had to stay and was bit by something all over his body. RCI moved us the next night.I read the reviews and thought it cant be that bad, well it was worse!

Unit 1310 has bed bugs and the front desk service was non chalant about it. They didn't extend an apology or any compensation. The representative made it seem as if we were hassling them to change our unit. Not a recommended place to stay at all. Very disappointed!!!

The management were personable, friendly, and efficient. When we needed something fixed, ( sliding glass door in the living room) or replaced- the toaster, they were quick to respond. The sliding door was poorly installed- not placed on track correctly and so there was a breach, though small- 1/2 inches in diameter at the base of the door. They had placed insulation tape down the opening edge of the door to close the gap further up. Concerning the place itself: 1) the furniture was old and dusty- it should be replaced; 2) They had no door mats once you entered the place and since it rains often our floors were being tracked up. We ended up going to Wal-Mart to purchase an inexpensive mat. The dwelling was not compatible for young children. Our daughter is 20 months, so it would have been nice to have gates available for rent- another Wal-Mart purchase; 3) the entire downstairs was tile- no soft places for baby play;4) the upstairs became really hot although the air conditioning was working- this was because the dryer coil was simply connected to a white plastic basket to catch additional lent. There was no way for the heat to escape outside ; it simply circulated in the dwelling; finally 5) the bed was horrible, my husband had to sleep on the couch for 3 days- which we covered with clean sheets.
Concerning location it was great! 20 minutes from Disney, the Florida Mall, and many other shops.

The key with this hotel is knowing what you are getting. This is not a perfect place, but it has some really great features. Up to you whether the features outweigh the downsides.

What's good:
Room layout - our 2 bedroom suite was well laid out and large. The living room was on a separate floor from the bedrooms which was great with young kids who go to sleep early. The patio was a pleasant place for dinner.

Room ammenities - nice tv, great ipod adapter, functional kitchen, bbq close to room.

Pool - although each was small, there were three pools and a hottub, providing variety and the ability to keep out of the way of others when needed. Pool was a bit chilly, but still heated.

Staff - the staff were very friendly and helpful

What's Bad:
This is not a resort. The facilities are limited, it is in a remote location, there is nothing to walk to nearby. Consider this like having a home in the suburbs of Orlando - it is a place to crash, spend a day by the pool, but if you want to see anything, you got to get into the car and drive 20 minutes. This is also not a luxury place. While the rooms are nice, don't come expecting the Four-Seasons. This is a 1980s time share and has all the quirks of staying with family. Some things are better than others.

This is a good location if you want to be going to different places in the area each day but want to be home to cook your dinner. It was good value and had very good ammenities, but you will go nuts if you don't leave the property.

As noted on other reviews, it is very close to the county jail. While we were in the area there was an (unsuccesful) escape attempt, and one night we heard sirens for several hours. The staff says this was very unusual. We never felt at risk on the property (security was visible and appropriate without being obtrusive), but this is not an area where you want to be taking long walks outside of the property.

When we checked in everything seemed fine and nice we got a 2 bed with loft, next morning we were woke up by very loud rap music we looked outside and there was several sport bikes with engines running and then more arrived till there was 15 next thing they started to leave and they were doing burnouts and wheelies down the driveway we complained and were told they were leaving later that day phew....everything went quiet till Friday night when we were all woke up by gangs of teenagers running around the unit next door unsupervised by any adults, we again complained....the walls on these units are PAPER THIN. The workers in the complex are great though anything you needed you just had to ask and it was there in 5 minutes there wasn't enough plates and cutlery for the capacity of the unit or things like toilet paper dish washer powder etc so we often phoned house keeping for stuff but whatever you asked for it was there right away..The location was quite good with plenty of grocery stores etc its a pity they let noisy people in these places to spoil everything!! they could say keep one block of units for rowdies!!!! and its a pity they don't have internet in the units its only in reception or around the pool.
