The location is incredible - not just that it is 5 minutes from Disney, but also the fact that the property twists back off the main tourist stretch a little bit, whereas most other hotels/motels in the area are right on the busy main road. We couldn't hear any of that from our room at night, nice and quiet. And the bed was really comfortable.

The rooms aren't for those who are looking for luxury, however I'm sure those people are not looking for a mid-range priced hotel. It wasn't terrible at all, but if it wasn't next to Disney World it would be $50/night less.

As well we initially booked a king room, and after traveling all day, finding the place in our rental car, and bringing our stuff up the stairs to the room - it wasn't a king room. It was fixed right away - in fact the staff member was really nice and easy going, but still a bit of a hassle considering the lobby was packed and lined up.

There's also a 24 hour Walgreens right on the property which is fantastic - especially considering each room has a small fridge (another frill that can make a big difference). And lots of restaurants within walking distance.

It's tough to find a place you will be comfortable with that won't cost you some ridiculous amount in that area. I would stay here again knowing we would be comfortable, but would be willing to try somewhere else as well. Just remember you're traveling to that area to have fun away from the hotel anyway, so it's a good place considering the location and comfort.

We appreciate you taking the time to write a review of our hotel. Very happy that you enjoyed all of our facilities!
We apologize that your room type was not properly entered correctly at first, but very happy that you gave us the opportunity to fix our mistake. We don't pretend to be perfect in everything we do, but we do want to make sure we are also exceeding our guests expectations in responding too their needs.

We love that we are set back from the main road! It's our quiet little retreat and still so close to it all.
Come back and visit us again!

To start off, the check in process was horrendous. After a computer glitch, I waited over 30 minutes for check-in. Then, I got to the room and the door was very flimsy and the lock took multiple tries to open. I was startled when I walked in and the light switch didn't work. I had to use the bathroom light to see. The bed sheets were not actually sheets. The bottom sheet didn't grip the side of the mattress like a usual sheet. It was just a top sheet draped over the mattress. The bathroom was very small and had hair all over it. The parking lot was poorly lit. The hotel charges a $7.50 per night resort fee which is unjust because it is a motel with outdoor hallways. This is a very outdated motel built in 1972. Stay somewhere else within the same price category.

Motelh8r,
We are very sorry that we obviously disappointed you during your stay at our hotel. We apologize that their was an obvious problem with our computers when you arrived and that you had to wait to check in. Sometimes, responding to reviews whether good or bad can be very difficult as we have no way of looking at your actual reservation. Waiting over 30 minutes for check in is not typical at our hotel unless you are arriving prior to check in time.

The light switch may have been turned off on the wall but have been on with the actual light. Hopefully, you reported this right away and our maintenance department was quick to respond. We do have a resort fee which covers the safe, refrigerator, mini golf, etc. We do not feel this is unjust just because we are an exterior property. We have many superior amenities on site that a typical hotel interior or exterior have. While we were built in 1972, we have updated and remodeled our hotel every 2 years routinely.

We hope you will give us another chance when you are visiting the area. It seems that you may be in the hotel business so can understand how we strive to ensure all guests enjoy their stay.

The best part about this hotel is the location - and that's only ok. We had reservations here for 2 days prior to our stay on the Disney property, and I cannot get over the waste of money that was for us. We attempted to travel during the snow storm that hit Dallas, so after 18 hours of trying to get to Orlando, and 3 canceled planes later we finally arrived at 1 am to the hotel. When our reservations were made online, our confirmation said that breakfast would be included, however when we checked in the RUDE woman at the front desk said "no breakfast is not included here" and just pointed to a sign that said all Best Westerns were indepently owned and operated so they reserved the right to change or modify services advertised. We showed her the confirmation and all she did was shrug her shoulders, gave us the print out and said "sign here."

There are no elevators, and no one to help with bags so we had to lug a weeks worth of luggage + 2 two year olds up stairs in the middle of the night. When the door to our rooms opened, my heart sank. There were mismatched sheets and a scratchy top blanket on the bed and no comforter. The room smelled like something had died in it, the bathroom was dirty, and I wouldn't even consider taking my shoes off on that floor. Absolutely the worst two nights of sleep I'd ever had! Between the uncomfortable mattress & pillows and the air conditioner that was uneven at best and left the room horribly humid, I couldn't wait to get out of that misery.

My son woke up early the next morning so I took him on a walk around the property - the "lake" is a nasty run off pond that smelled worse than our room, the playground equipment looked like it might fall over, and the pool wasn't much better. We walked to the lobby to get some information on the area and find out the best way up to Daytona for the day, and the two desk attendants spent a good 5 minutes chatting before I was even acknowledged to ask them a question. Our friends stayed in the room next door and we could hear every word of their conversation - and they aren't loud people!

I'm shocked people have had good experiences here. I'm not even one who has been spoiled by the Ritz or anything - typically we stay at a Hilton or Marriott but I've stayed in a Motel 6 in West Texas that was better kept than this! With so much competition in the area, you'd think this hotel would do more to stand out.

And the couple who said they honeymooned here??? Really??? I'm sorry but you deserved much better than this on your honeymoon!

I must say that it is very difficult sometimes to respond to guest reviews when you are unable to verify any information. We apologize that you were greated by a rude front desk agent, that of course is totally unacceptable and will be addressed. We would love to be able to see what online confirmation is advertising breakfast included at our property. We typically do not include breakfast at our hotel. It will however say that "breakfast is available at the property". You are correct, all of our buildings have 2 floors, no elevators. While we do not have bellman at our property, we of course would have had a security guard assist you had we known you needed help. All (651) but 100 of our rooms have been renovated with new bedding, drapes and carpets. We apoligize if you were in an older room and hope you will give us another opportunity to prove ourselves. We were just advised that the last 100 rooms will go under renovation in late March!

We actually have 3 pools at our property and all 3 pools are in fantastic shape! They have all been completely re-done with new coping etc. And both of our playground areas are in no way in dis-repair. I am not sure what hotel you are speaking of, but it is definately not our property when in comes to these items. While we do have a lake on site. It is not a man made lake, but a natural lake, and unfortunately, we cannot control mother nature.

We will definately speak with the guest service desk regarding the lack of attention to you regarding directions to Daytona. They are not employees of the hotel but only lease space and handle attraction sales.

Give this place a miss, although most of the nearby hotels smell of urine
My wife and I stayed one night and felt really sorry for anyone booking a fortnight .
We have seen this place in brochures recommended by travel agents.
Only the breakfast s passable just!

Myself and my new Husband enjoyed our Honeymoon together in Orlando and stopped at this Hotel for the duration

Check in was smooth and quick, helpful staff on duty to answer any questions you might have.

The room was clean and big, having a fridge in the room was very convenient.

The bar and restaurants were fantastic, again all the staff very helpful and friendly.

Pool was warm and clean, shuttle services to the parks was fantastic, saved on more expense of hiring a car.

Would definitely return!!!

Worst hotel I've ever experienced! I travel a LOT and always stay in mid-range places. I'm satisfied as long as a hotel is clean, safe, and the staff is accommodating. I CHECKED OUT of this place immediately!
When we first checked in to the Best Western Lakeside and went to our first room, its lock was loose, the door jamb had been pried with a crowbar, and the deadbolt was bent (please see pics I'm posting). On top of that, there was hair left in the tub and when we turned the A/C on, black dirt came flying out of the vent and went all over the room (see pics).
The second room we went to had the deadbolt hanging off the door from its screws (also see pics).
The third room we were moved to was more disgusting than the others combined. The beds weren't made properly, huge stains were on the carpet, the electricity on one side of the room wasn't working, the lampshades were stained and crusty, there was dirt and hair all over the pillow, the divider curtain between the bedroom and dressing area was torn down, and there was a leak that dripped on the bathroom floor. The pictures are ALL posted here on TripAdvisor.
Please do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. The hotel is unsafe, full of sketchy characters, and clearly people are up to no good when two of the three rooms we went into had been broken into (according to the tell tale broken locks).
The hotel is giving me a runaround when it comes to refunding my money now, too.
I wouldn't recommend this DISGUSTING DUMP to my worst enemy.

We had always stayed at Holiday In Family Suites in the past and loved it... but the kids are older now and we just couldn't see ourselves going back there after a Nickelodeon Re-Theme change. Started looking around the Internet and found some good reviews on the BW Lakeside so we decided to give it a shot.

We were not disappointed ! This place is great ! some highlights :

*CHECK IN was quick and smooth
*We asked for a ground floor room near the pool and the lobby and near a parking lot...we were accommodated
*The Pizza Hut and Resort Buffet was great. We don't like Disney Dining or the prices that accompany Park Dining
*LOCATION...OUTSTANDING ! short drive to Publix for groceries, Walgreens is practically in the same parking lot. At least 10 decent restaurants in walking distance
*SHERBETH ROAD SHORTCUT ! only about 5 minutes to get to Animal Kingdom ! All other parks are easily reached as well with no traffic issues
*Pools are clean, warm and fun
*Room was clean and comfortable beds. Having a fridge and a safe in the room was very convenient
*Great Price

we will be back again for sure....would recommend this place to everyone who wants honest value and good service !
