February 16-18 we camped at Thousand Palms Campground, Lake Panasoffskee, Florida. It's web page was great showing golf, swimming, fishing, and a resort type of experience. Our daughter called to make our reservations. $50 a night was our quoted price. When our daughter asked why it was so much they quoted the holiday weekend. So, based on their website, she reserved a spot for her family and one for us.
When we arrived, what a disappointment. This place had once been a permanent mobile home park. Those people are being forced out to make way for overnighters. Many of those properties are in poor shape and many were empty. The golf course was a joke. The pool was not open. There was no playground. For fishing you had to leave the property and go next door. Our daughter's site was OK. Ours we had to pull in frontways instead of backing in because the water and electric were on the wrong side. The location was wet and the mosquitos were terrible.
That is the first time we have EVER paid $50 a night for camping, and it will be our last. Those people should be ashamed of themselves.
