I was REALLY looking forward to staying here and enjoying the quiet after being in the Orlando area. CHECK IN: No problems NO ELEVATOR: Which we knew from previous reviews SPACIOUS ROOM: Nice amenities like free little jar of Orange Marmalade. BED: Was so tired and going to take a nap and discovered dirty sheets. I went down to the manager and she called housekeeping that lived a short drive down the road. She dropped everything and came immediately, even bringing her small daughter. She changed the sheets while profusely apologizing. Apparently the other housekeeping team did this room but she was glad she could help. I offered to help her but she said she had it. She was a class act! GUESTS: This is where it gets sticky...when you check in, see if there are any large groups meeting there at the same time. A group took over the public lounge and even shut the door. I was looking forward to settling down on the sofa and reading. I guess they thought it was their space. Also, another group of 3 grown adults were in the room next to us, talking very loudly at bedtime and with their door open. The wall to our bedroom was the shared wall with their living room. I could not even get to sleep with the pillow over my head. Finally I went next door, and politely shared the situation. They were sorry and settled down immediately. The next morning, the main "loud" woman came up to me and apologized again. MORNING: Woken up at 7:00 by a lawn maintenance crew running the leaf blower right below our bedroom window....later a group discussing loudly the outside condition of the facility...then the mower! BREAKFAST: ANOTHER large group with small screaming children running around the dining area. They were all done eating, but were lingering disturbing the other few guests. The cook to order breakfast was adequate. IN CONCLUSION: I believe this lodge could be wonderful but it needs a strong night manager. There was none on duty that I know of. They need to convey to their maintenance staff that they don't begin their work until at least 8:00. Finally they should share with all incoming guests that they should remember that the lodge is to be used as a retreat by many people and be mindful of their loudness level as sound carries in this old inn, and children should be under control.

We stayed at Capernaum Lakeside Lodge as a final night before flying out of Orlando. This is an older, stately mansion that has been remodeled into an event center and Christian retreat center. As such, it is tobacco and alcohol-free. This is on the shore of Lake Wales, and we enjoyed just sitting out by the lake and relaxing. There are only about 12 or so rooms, so it is more like staying at a B&B. The rooms were spacious, clean, and each one was unique. The host family is very attentive, and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. This was a highlight of our Florida trip, and a pleasant, relaxing way to finish up. It is an hour drive from here to the Orlando ariport.
There were herons out in the yard to watch during breakfast. All the rooms are good, most upstairs, and we didn't see an elevator, if that is an issue for you request a downstairs room.

Room Tip: We liked the lake view, about half the rooms look out at the lake, and you can choose that when you reserve.

Capernaum Lakeside Lodge is a peaceful retreat area. We had the downstairs room which had 4 rooms plus bath. Appliances in full kitchen were spotless, as was the entire suite area. Bed was extremely comfortable. This hotel is from the 1930"s style lodging and quite beautiful. Setting is so serene as it overlooks Lake Pierce. Yes, it is dated but that is part of its charm. Breakfast is included and that could use a bit of help. Paper plates for food should be replaced with "hard" plates. Not appetizing to eat from. Coffee was good as were the biscuits but other items not very appealing. Did have selection of cold cereal. However, was good enough to start the day. Would have expected a better set up and with someone in attendance. However, the nightly prices are very reasonable and I would definitely upward pay for a better breakfast set up. Exterior had areas that needed pressure washing but overall they have a charming place.

Room Tip: Be sure to order the downstairs room if you can not do stairs as there is no elevator.

If you are looking for a place for peace and quite with wonderful accommodations this is the place. Rooms are three room suites with a full kitchen and comfortable beds. This very out-of the-way inn provides an adequate breakfast in a beautiful large "mansion" type building.

A lovely place at a terrific price.

Room Tip: I believe all rooms are large and quite comfortable. A room to the rear provides lake view.

Beautiful location with great nightly rates. This property is on Lake Pierce and it was originally a mansion built in 1925. It is now owned by a church and they keep the rates very reasonable and the rooms are spacious and the entire B.B. is clean and has a great smell unlike most of the older or historic Bed and breakfast that tend to get a musty smell.

I really think it is beautiful but can’t give it 5 stars because it does need renovations, screens in the bedroom windows, the dock needs to be redone and has broken boards. Since the lake is so pretty this would greatly benefit in my opinion from some some swing chairs in the lake area and a gazebo for the guest to take in the beautiful Lake. This part is not a negative review only improvements that would make this location 5 stars. My boyfriend and I still love it.

The location is beautiful and we were helped by Lisa and she has a great personality and is very helpful and she deserves 5 + stars because she is very sweet and helpful.

Thank you Lisa we will return again.
