John Prince Park Campground
Reviewed 21 October 2013

We have a small enclosed cargo trailer with a/c, electrical, windows & doors. We have been camping in it for quite awhile now at other state & national parks with no problems or complaints. To our surprise, we were told we were not allowed to camp in this park because we did not have holding tanks like regular rv's. Wow!! I guess that means teardrop campers & some pop up campers are not allowed to camp here either. We asked if they could put us in with the tent campers & we were told we would have to leave our trailer outside. We called the Palm Beach parks & recreation number to complain & the lady said she never heard of that either & then told us to call John, the manager of the park. We are still waiting for a call back.

It was a nice campground. When I set up my camper the facilities very good, breezy, my only suggestion are build up a swimming pool for kids, mini cafeteria, gift shop. I enjoy barbecue outside, meeting new friends.biking, enjoying the breeze, watching the jet skiers.

I like that it is on a lake since we like to kayak. If you have a boat and get a site on the lake you can tie your boat up at your campsite. Very popular lake for wave runners, boaters and fisherman, especially on the weekends. I like that the campground is next to a big and really nice park that is great for bike riding. The area surrounding the park and campground is not so great though. We saw some homeless people in the park, although they didn't seem to bother anyone. However, we felt safe at the campground since gated access to the campground, the front office at the entrance is open late and we often saw a citizen patrol and security patrol vehicles patrolling the campground. The grounds are kept very nice. No pool. Several playgrounds and a laundry room. Most sites have trees, but not the sites towards the front of the campground and some other sites in the campground. I was hesitant to stay at the campground because of complaints about airport noise. However, they are smaller less noisy airplanes and usually only go in the daytime and you get used to it. If you are in a tent though they may wake you up in the morning. You can hear some interstate noise but not too bad and great that quick access to the interstate to get around town. They don't have grills or campfire rings at each site. However, you can book a campsite on one of their campfire circles where they have a big fire ring and grill in the middle of the circle - also great if you are in a group and you can all book the sites surrounding the circle. You can also bring your own fire pit. Nice dog walk area. Nice staff working in the office and on the grounds.

We spent the month of March 2013 in this campground. We met many nice friendly people, most were dog lovers, and we enjoyed getting to know each other during our walks. The park is extremely well run & rules are enforced. It is very clean, gated, and security patrols are common. I always felt safe, even late at night. We found the staff to be very friendly & pleasant. The planes flying over are slightly annoying, but certainly not a reason go somewhere else. There are several nice playgrounds, however when we were there, most of the population was "snowbirds". The short term campers with children came on the weekends and holidays. We enjoyed it so much that we elected to leave our Airstream stored nearby and plan to return every six months!!

We were visiting friends in Boca Raton and their friends recommended this campground. We were very happy with the park, beautiful surroundings and apparently we were in the "coveted" site #113 which was beautiful and we had almost no neighbors. The dog lovers in the park were a nice part of the experience since we have a rescue dog with issues and they were more than willing to help us out with him in training.
I don't see where the airport would be such an issue as some other reviewers have stated since they were only small planes and didn't fly at night.
All of the lots looked roomy, not jammed against your neighbors and the price for 3 nights was only a little over $100.00, can't beat that!

The scenery is ok. A beautiful lake that you can't swim in. My daughter contracted salmonella from it. The campsites are ok, they provide a park bench at each one. But.... The personnel is absolutely horrible. A bunch of miserable park captain commandos. There was one helpful nice young lady in the front office but that is it. Even the lawn crew starts cutting grass at 6 am. Every 2 seconds there charging you for something new or threatening an eviction. Go somewhere else, this place sucks.

My husband and I have stayed here many times, mostly in spring and fall, when it's packed. We stayed her in July and had it to ourselves. Granted, there is an airport nearby, but we were in a motorhome, so it did not bother us, plus no planes at night. There was a ramp and storage for our boat. Beautiful beaches and Peanut Island nearby for swimming and snorkeling. And the staff could not be any nicer - every time we visit. It's so convenient to everything-great restaurants, shops, and the georgeous Atlantic Ocean and the Intercoastal Waterway.

Room Tip: If you're looking for a pool, they don't have one, but the beaches are nearby. Our RV was r...
