The service staff is great, but everyone at the front desk is friendly when they are taking your money, but the minute you want or need something, they act like you are bothering them. Can't understand the bi polar service. Last time I was there they over billed us. They ran a special rate, but charged us the usual rate. After several phone calls that were never returned, I finally called during what appears to be the 1 hour a week their accountant must work, and she did take care of the bill, rather exhaustive experience. I have talked to others that have also experienced double billing etc. The last time we were there they also charged us $25 a piece for two soda bottles we had in the room. $50 for two sodas.

We are not first time visitors to Paradise Lakes; indeed we can remember the Club Reveal way back when it was the Club Fred. And we are of the opinion that a resort is more than a physical layout and infrastructure when one factors in the genial service and welcome atmosphere. In the past Paradise Lakes was like a familiar old friend that has put on some pounds and a few wrinkles around the eyes but who's shortcomings could be easily overlooked. No More.

Like all nudist or clothing-optional resorts, the recreational pool areas are where the guests concentrate during the peak hours. Here the relatively small acreage at the PL clubhouse over the crowded July 4th holiday just begged that a second, now neglected pool area by the lake to the rear of the property be remodeled and reopened. Something as benign and subjective as water temperature in a conversation pool can be easily corrected, but a lack of needed recreational space for members and guests is more challenging. In the past this beautiful little corner by the lake had a dining room, a nice bar and a relaxing pool and beach area. It needs to be a respite from the busy hub-bub of the clubhouse once again.

The accommodations this visit were in what are locally known as a vacation condo. Each are privately owned properties built in the early 1980s that are 456 sq.ft in area, frequently with a loft. However our mistake was not knowing the owner, therefore we suffered through a loud, cranky window air conditioner, a bed that has seen some mighty serious use and a bathroom that showed every bit of its age. Here once again PL suffers drastically in comparison with its high-brow neighbor to the north. No doubt an aging property built in phases that shows no architectural continuity always tends to look even more run-down than a lavish, recently constructed resort with a Spanish Mediterranean Riviera flare.

I think where we parted with the past was when we factored in the vacation price. Paradise Lakes is still marketing and pricing itself as a premier clothing-optional resort with all the associated bells and whistles needed to compete with any other similar Florida resort, and such is not the case. So unless it either seriously upgrades its facilities or becomes a value-priced resort, we will not be going back.

Paradise Lakes Resort (PLR) is a nice place to go & relax. It's also a great place to have sexy, sensual fun.
The clothing optional aspect is nice without pressure. Nudists from all over can be found here, but don't expect an uptight atmosphere. The pools are nice and kept well. Poolside is great for sunning and socialization.
The club can be exciting & fun when parties are scheduled. The DJ does a good job with about 85% dance-able music in a nice atmosphere.
PLR has a nice restaurant with good food and a nice range of choices. Service can range from great to "Where's my waitress?" There is a bar that serves food as well. Bar service is great in the club and outside at the pool.
Rooms are fair at PLR, but in need of serious upgrades. AC units need replacing, though most work OK. The beds are generally overly firm and uncomfortable. Just about everything needs a good coat of paint. Currently there is a nice boutique that sells clothes from cover-ups & swimsuits to sexy club wear.
Although the prices at PLR tend to be lower than a nearby upscale clothing optional resort, they are still questionable value for the money, especially when charges are leveled for many things that should be included.
Overall, we go to PLR when there is a party and stay overnight to sun the next day (and/or the day of). It's a nice getaway despite the drawbacks.

Room Tip: Signing up with certain sites will give room discounts with party attendance.

First of all, let's get one thing straight, the previous reviews that describe an unpleasant, neglected resort that should be avoided at all cost are absolutely specious! Paradise Lakes is a first-class clothing-optional resort with features that make it superior to its major competitor, Caliente. Unlike its competitor, it heats its main pool in the cold weather; its sauna is excellent and not tepid like the Caliente sauna. The jacuzzi is on the same level as the pools and it doesn't take a golf cart to regularly travel from your rented condo to the pool complex, it is an easy walk. You can play darts, two kinds of volleyball, pool, shuffleboard, fusseball and tennis. The restaurants have popular menus and the service actually is very pleasant and efficient. Unlike at Caliente, the visitor can rent a condo (of any kind or quality) from individual owners and maybe even negotiate a rate that is mutually acceptable. Oft times the owner will throw in a golfcart with the rent! Everything is clean and kept in good repair. Instead of climbing up a hill to reach the pool complex, as is the case at Caliente, the visitor makes a quick passage at ground level through the doorway to the pool and sundeck area. One tip to remember is rent a condo apt. and avoid the small hotel rooms that surround the pool. The condos are cheap enough and the hotel rooms are the oldest accommodations on the property.
You can rent a studio apt, a two bedroom apt., a townhouse, a house or a double-wide mobile home. Paradise Lakes is a quality operation and you will find it to provide a wonderful nudist vacation for you and others in your party.

The management is more concerned with developing a swinging community of younger people than it is in taking care of the place. When we checked in, our room still had trash, the sheets were dirty as evidenced by the hairs on the sheets, and there were stains in the toilet. Very unsanitary. Don't waste your money. Try Caliente instead.

The manager promised us things would be cleaned. Then, we got back to our room, and it was still a mess. He was too busy drinking with friends at the bar to see things through. Heard enough? We have more...

Never again. Lots of things falling apart, or off (handle to the faucet), things broken with no repair (towel bar, toilet paper holder, hooks), lightbulbs out, and then after putting up with all of that, they do not allow you to bring your own bottled water (or even snack like trail mix) into your room. You are encouraged to drink the $5.00 Fiji bottled waterprovided in the room. I have pictures to collaborate all of this....think twice before making these reservations. I know I will.

We have stayed at Paradise over the years going back to the 80's. It was an annual vacation site. Halloween was a special time with couples coming in from it seemed everywhere. It had a sexual atmospehere, which was muted with class, but the electricity in the air.
This trip was very discouraging. The place is being run with out the flair it once had. No cash can be used, only put it on your room or credit, bank caid.
The lounge, which was crowd in the past, never got off the ground while we were there. It use to be classy, attactive ladies behind the bars with a friendly, fun attitude. That's definiely gone!
Now the music is so loud, forget having a conversation. Dance music, ain't none, unless your a teenagers or in perfect shame. (and there certainly none there in the latter catagory. Two slow songs in four hours. Certainly cuts down on meeting others but as I said it ain't what it use to be.
