“FUN IN THE SUN”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2012

I have been staying here with 2 galpals for the last 4 years. It is our annual thing. The location is great [it is close to the airport, town/restaurants/shops, the supermarket/drugstore/liquor store]. You can walk to everything; a short cab ride can take you to the Bonnet House, Birch Park, the water taxi etc. The beach is beautiful, the pool area is lovely and the view from the room breathtaking. The staff is very accommodating and friendly.

Room Tip: There are 2 ocean front efficiencies with great views of the ocean.

We just spent a week at Tropic Seas Resort in Lauderdale By The Sea and cannot wait to go back! Tropic Seas is right on the beach, has a beautiful courtyard with a nice clean heated pool. We were within walking distance to restaurants, a grocery store and even a new Dollar Tree which was great for picking up beach supplies!

Tropic Seas is great for families and couples looking for a nice clean beach hotel.

We can't wait to go back to Tropic Seas Resort!

We (family with three tween-agers) stayed here four nights (Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun nights) in late March 2012 and liked it very much. The view from our room (103) was pretty, and we enjoyed sitting out on the many lounge chairs near the pool with an even better view of the ocean. Our kids appreciated the warmth of the pool water, although we grownups thought it a tad too warm. (The ocean water in late March was cool at first entry, but we got used to it quickly.)

The bed linens seemed new, clean and detergent-scent-free (much appreciated). The two queen beds and twin were okay, although not as firm as we like. The full kitchen worked fine for us. A few more pots n pans would have been helpful (we bought muffin tins at a nearby dollar store). The hotel-provided beach towels and beach bag were also appreciated. The managers were friendly and helpful.

The beach in front of the hotel is ample and less crowded than the beaches immediately to the north (tall buildings with higher population density) and to the south (closer to the pier and public parking).

The pier area with half a dozen decent restaurant options is an easy 8-10-minute walk away. There were live bands playing outside Friday and Saturday evenings, sponsored by a couple of the restaurants, a regular feature, apparently. Slightly further away is a very good (but small) family-run Italian restaurant called Corelli's. The pier itself offers fishing for a fee with rental rods available (we amateurs had many nibbles, but no catches). The water is clear enough one that can see the fish stealing one's bait.

In the opposite direction and very nearby is a small shopping center with a Publix supermarket, CVS pharmacy, Subway sandwich place, and a few other small restaurants we didn't sample.

Room Tip: Room 103 has a good view, despite being on the ground floor.

I went with my friend and we stayed for 6 nights at Tropic Seas. It is peaceful, quiet, clean, and the staff is beyond helpful. We mostly enjoyed having our own kitchen and being able to cook together. The rooms are spacious and the big windows brighten the room beautifully. The view is spectacular. It is a 5-10 minute walk from the shops/restaurants/bars/grocery store and it's nice because you have the option to walk on the beach or on the street. I will definitely come back again soon. Thank you Tropic Seas !

Tropic Seas Resort is a tropical paradise right on the beach! We've been going back every year and absolutely love staying there! It's a perfect location; walking distance to restaurants and grocery stores! The landscaping is so beautiful and peaceful overlooking the ocean! Eleanor and Linda are the most amazing hosts, keeping everything impeccable and making everyone feel like they are part of the family! The housekeeping staff are immaculate! We really love the fresh coffee and danish in the morning! We look forward to being there again in April!

If you want a place to stay where you can walk to restaurants and walk right on to the beach, this is the place to stay. The pool area is really nice where you can hide from the sun and read. I was lucky to get a very comfortable bed but notice other reviews saying the mattresses were terrible. Stayed in Dec 2011 and have booked for April 2012.

We had 2 queens with a separate room with a kitchen and living room. The bahama bed in the living room, which could be used as a couch, was so comfortable to lay on and watch TV......the other couch was not comfortable to sit on to watch TV.

All in all, I would recommend this resort,

Read the reviews on-line and decided to try it. We were looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing. Great location and peaceful. We were a little surprised as to how outdated the rooms were. The beds were very uncomfortable and the mattresses were very old and lumpy. The bedding was never changed unless I took the sheets off the bed and left them for the cleaning person. I never did see a sign that said you had to request clean sheets every day. The beach towels are a great idea along with the tote bag to take down to the beach. There were food crumbs on the floor in the kitchen area when we checked in and it stayed there the entire time of our trip, even when I saw the cleaning person walk in our room with a mop. The cleaning service could definitely be improved and the rooms definitely need to be updated from the windows to the bathrooms, etc. The kitchen area is definitely a plus since the grocery store is within walking distance to buy groceries. The pool area was clean and the short walk to the beach was awesome. The grounds were clean. Supposed to have rolls for breakfast in the morning during the week but a few mornings there was nothing. Would definitely stay again if they do some updates to the rooms.

Dear Traveler Family 3000,

Thank you very much for your helpful suggestions! Thanks to feedback from guests such as yourself we are in the process of replacing all of our furniture in order to update our rooms.

Since your stay in October we have installed brand new 37" flat screen televisions in all of the apartments, new digital room safes and all of the furniture and window treatments are in the process of being replaced!

As a rule we provide daily maid service. In an effort to be environmentally responsible we provide fresh sheets upon check in and then the sheets are changed every three days unless our guest request the sheets be changed more frequently.

We apologize for your experience with our cleaning staff. Tropic Seas Resort is the proud recipient of the Superior Small Lodging "White Gloves" award for cleanliness for 3 years running and we take cleaning very seriously!

Thanks again for staying at Tropic Seas Resort, we look forward to welcoming you back in the future! As always your comments and suggestions are always appreciated!

Sincerely,

John Secco
