“A fabulous get a way spot.”
Reviewed 30 October 2011

I came to the Wimdjammer with my Mom celebrating her 84th Birthday. It was a perfect get a way, great location in the small cozy city of Lauderdale By The Sea. The staff was very nice, Joseph, Lillian, John, as well as all the orhers! Our room was oceanfront, first floor, and overlooking the pool. Extremely comfortable and clean. Good space for the two of us. We had our coffee watching the sun come up from our dining room table. They provide very comfortable Tommy Bahama low beach chairs that we took to the beach. We enjoyed sitting on the beach watching a couple of dozen divers come in and out of the ocean as well as seeing the Pier just north. I strolled the beach several times during my stay, so relaxing. In our kitchen I cooked several meals. I bought one seasoning, curry. It flavored several of our meals, coconut curry pork chops with sauteed mushrooms and onions along with jasmine rice. You can barbecue outside by the pool as well. Bring some charcoal or a guest might have left some. The grocery store Publix, is less than a mile away. We also had several meals on Commercial Blvd, walking distance, just north. Very good hamburgers at the Village, oh the dessert, rectangle plate with ice cream, cream, nuts, sliced strawberry, great to share. Yum! Very good chicken salad sandwich at Country Ham and Eggs.. Service as well was very good. Stop in to see Dominic or Dominque at Doggies and Diamonds right down the street from Village Grille, the cutest puppies ever and beautiful jewelry. I bought a gorgeous ring there and almost came home with a Perkapoo puppy! Just adorable. All just a short walk or you can drive the block and there are parking meters. They do check the meters! Enjoy!

Beachfront, private balcony, small but very clean, well-kept and well furnished. The week there flew by! Walking distance to shopping, eating, fishing and plenty of activities. Kid friendly and awesome for adults too. Walking up to the sounds of the Atlantic can't be beat......wish I was still there.

We have been owners since 1982. We enjoyed Lauderdale-by-the-Sea so much from a few previous family vacations in the area that we decided to buy our one bedroom unit at Windjammer for week 52. As an added bonus we receive an additional week 53 every five years. The rooms are small but very adequate and on several occasions we have had family members join us. We especially like being so close to the ocean which is only a few feet away. The beach is very nice and clean with palm trees providing shade. The resort provides free beach chairs and beach towels. Our ground floor unit overlooks one of two heated pools and beyond that we have a great view of the ocean. It is ideal for a relaxing vacation. The resort itself is kept exceptionally immaculate and updated. The surrounding areas are also well maintained. The kitchen is well equipped so we can eat many of our meals in as well as sampling a variety of restaurants in and around the quaint “village square.” Almost everything is within a convenient short walking distance, such as restaurants, shops, taverns, ice cream, fishing pier, etc. The resort staff people are friendly and accommodating. Some years when we are unable to occupy our unit, we have management rent it for us and they have been successful in finding renters. Occasionally, we have been in the area at times other than our normal week and they have been kind enough to let us park in their parking lot, space providing, so we can spend a few hours enjoying the beach and nearby restaurants, etc. We definitely would recommend this resort to others. We have been very satisfied with our many vacations at Windjammer and look forward to many more.

I am flying to The Windjammer from the Western coast of British Columbia Canada in January because it is a place that has been proudly recommended to me as the perfect place to relax, swim, sunbathe and sleep soundly in a fresh, always clean suite, with a serene and beautiful ocean view. I can hardly wait! I made reservations with a very polite and helpful clerk and he and the staff are looking forward to welcoming me in person.

My family and I stayed here for one week in August. We had a two bedroom apartment. It was very nice, however the 1st and 2nd Floors are connected by an elevator. I wasn't pleased about the layout. Our kids were 14 and 9 and it was difficult to have breakfast on the patio outside of our bedroom without taking the breakfast on the elevator and through one bedroom. It was challenging for my husband to carry two cups of coffee in the morning on the elevator. Other than living in what felt like two separate apartments, the resort was very clean and accommodating. The staff from the front desk, housekeepers and maintenance were all great! The pools were clean and the location.... well you just can't beat. We were steps from the beach and that was very nice. The view of the beach from our room was great too. The two bedrooms might be better for families without children. Two couples would have a great time in this type of layout. All in all, I enjoyed my stay and would go back there again. Lauderdale by the Sea was a quaint little town with everything you could want... restaurants, entertainment, ice cream, frozen yogurt, pizza, fishing and Jan's Homemade Chocolates! Lastly, we had a friend visit from Miami for dinner and the resort arranged parking for our guest!!!! Excellent customer service!

My family has stayed here for nearly twenty years. Our children and grandchildren have also stayed with us.

We will be going again this year. Lauderdale itself is great and this motel is within half mile of the main beach square. The hotel has always been spotless and the staff is cordial and keeps everything is excellent condition. There are two pools and a very short walk to the water(and when I say short I mean short, maybe 100 yards tops). The beach in front is also very clean. There is a big BBQ pit on one side and a smaller one on the other side. On Wed we have a joint BBQ dinner. (not required ).

We booked a 1-bed room apartment which was big enough for 3 persons. The rooms are a little bit small but very nice and absolute clean incl. fully equipped kitchen. Towels are available, for pool/beach separate ones. I felt to stay in a little cottage. With one step we could reach the pool area and as well the beach. The sun chairs and umbrella for the beach are included in the price of the hotel - just take them and bring it back. The beach is very calm. Umbrellas at the pool area are missing. Very close - approx. 10 min to walk - you can find some restaurants and bars and a fishing pier. Parking place is available around the hotel and fix assigned to your car. Very service oriented approach and staff is very friendly. For sure we will come back!
