“Everything You Expect It To Be”
Reviewed 13 October 2011

Little Palm Island did not dissapoint us. We expected superior service, privacy and exceptional accommodations for what we were paying and we did get just that. The staff was wonderful. We were able to be as social or as unsocial as we desired. Meals can be catered in for no additional charge. We stayed 3 nights and did choose to go back to shore one day to explore Key West. It is a bit inconvenient to go anywhere as you have to wait on the shuttle boat - but it runs every hour. We only had one issue during our stay - we had requested cokes to be restocked in our refrigerator and were told they would be right over. We waited for a while and then left to catch the shuttle. Upon our return several hours later, there were still no cokes. We called back and they immediately sent the cokes with extra. We had mostly appetizers but they were very good! Key lime pie is AWESOME! Be prepared to part with a lot of money for food and beverages (it is more than Disney). Recreation is included for free. We were able to take a small boat out one day and snorkle and we took a Kayak out another day and explored the surrounding area. They also supplied us with a fishing pole and live bait. The Tarpin are HUGE - you need to bring your own bait for them though. We also saw a small nurse shark and stingray when we were sitting on one of the docks. The sunsets are spectacular and we didn't experience any issues with mesquitos. The pool is AWESOME and there were several times we had it all to ourselves. There really isn't a good swim beach on the island - but again - you can take a boat out and swim from the boat if you wish. The outdoor shower was WONDERFUL. I probably would not pay this much to stay here again, but it was worth the experience.

Room Tip: I would avoid cottage 7 I believe it is - it is right next to the trash and service center. You will...

This truly is a wonderful get-away! We felt transported immediately to paradise. The entire staff were extremely friendly and sincere. The accommodations were top shelf. Because there are no cars on the island, it was very peaceful and quiet.

The food was exceptional. I am vegan and was impressed that the chef cooked vegan dishes for me. I did not ask for anything specific. I let him surprise me.

Little Palm Island has a variety of activities including, kayaking and scuba diving.

Do order one of the romantic turn-downs for your special occasion. you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms are on the quieter side of the island...more privacy.

We arrived onto the island by boat and greeted by Renda, who made us feel welcome at once and made us feel that we were the only people on the island....it has very few suites on there so it is a real retreat, you see very few people as all the suites are nestled among the trees. All you see is water which surrounds you, so peaceful!
The staff are amazing are really do treat you as if you are the only guests and often you are, some times seeing the odd couple at breakfast and dinner .. my favourite was the sunday brunch, really worth the experience of the gorgeous food and relaxed atmosphere.
we had a small issue which was dealt with swiftly and all thanks to Kevin and Renda for that. The staff were so lovely and nothing was ever to much trouble Anne-ly thank you for all your good advice with the menu and the loan of your torch to read as the evenings by sunset are the best but difficult when you have forgotten your glasses!
Eating dinner in the evenings was a real treat, the food, the view and the whole Island experience........it really is a must!

Room Tip: We only saw our suite which was a bit dark at times inside but thank god for air con..

Recently spent 4 nights/3 days(mid-Sept) at this wonderful resort and loved every minute. We will be celebrating our 25th Anniv. in Dec. and are unable to get away for a longer period until spring, so we decided to take a few mini trips. We originally planned on somewhere in the Northeast but changed course after all the flooding there. My husband is not a beach person so he was very hesitant when I suggested here. However, turned out to be wonderful and we are definitely planning to return. It is definitely expensive, but you know that going in. We like destination hotels and they usually cost more, and normally the facilities and service are uncomparable and that is what you are paying to get. Little Palm Island was no exception. It definitely had some of the best service we have ever had. The staff was exceptional, and so very friendly, and catered to your every need. We rented a car thinking we would leave and go to dinner off island or just travel around, Never Happened. We are real foodies and the food was fabulous and had no reason to leave. My husband was worried about having just one restaurant for the whole trip, but the variety/food was wonderful and we ate on our balcony, at the pool and had several options when dining at night.(inside dining room, outside verandas, or beach) Yes, it was also expensive, but no different than if you travel to a big city restaurant of the same caliber. Would have loved to do the chefs table seating, but didn't book in advance.
The rooms were great and very clean. Bedding was terriffic. Turn down and freshened every night. It is a small resort with only 30 bungalow so they seemed to know your schedule and did everything in the room while you were somewhere else. We requested a tv, but they didn't get it working until the day before we left, and honestly it didn't really matter. I think they were more concerned about it than we were. We had pretty good cell sevice while there and my husband had no problem with his Ipad.
We each had great facials at the spa and had a couples stone massage in a hut by the water, which was heaven. My husband said it was the best massage he ever had and the atmosphere was unbeatable.
We did not do a whole lot while there, 'cause we just need to chill and unwind, but they could have arranged many things. Next time we may try the kayaking or motor boats or do a snorkeling trip, which I heard were great. As mentioned by others, there is no swimming beach so to speak which we did not realize, but the beach area is immaculate and nice to just sun or wade in. Service there was great too.
All in all a very unique relaxing experience. Next time will not come in September. Still very hot(90's) and humid. Also, a little buggy, did get some mosquito bites.(they do have repellant in room) The water was almost too warm, being as hot as it was, it was refreshing only for the first few minutes you were in.(beach and pool) However, they were constantly giving you water(but, for the resort price you would have thought spring water and not purified) and leaving it along with fresh ice in your room. Three days was enough for us and as I said we will definitely go back to reconnect and unwind. As far as we wexperienced it was the closest thing to a tropical island without the hassle of leaving the U.S. We loved every minute!

Though we have not been back since the start of the year-just had to add my review of this place. Planning on going back in January again with family from out of town.
Like most other reviews; this is a slice of real heaven in the Keys.
It just does not get much better than this.

Yes - it is expensive but this is not your regular Key motel masquerading as a resort.
It will not be the "average" person's getaway for more than 2 or 3 days and even that will be expensive exclusive of food, etc. Save up for this one.....

I have never been in a place like this where after 2 days your body and soul have been transformed; everything just grinds to a halt.

You feel you are on your own private island.

My wife and I have been here three times over the past year and half and have never been disappointed.

The rooms are upscale "huts" in a private clearing for each; modern and very
well appointed. Staff are extremely well trained and attentive all over the resort.

The food, quality and prep is 4 star dining. We have even on one visit taken advantage of the Chef's Table where you sit in the back kitchen and are entertained with tastings and the kitchen activity. Kudos to that team and Chef Luis for a magnificient meal and a memorable visit as a birthday gift.

If you want to first experience Little Palm Island; you can reserve for a lunch or dinner and get a taste of what this place is all about. They will not let you wander the facilities - but beg to have someone take you around so you can plan your next trip.
Just the trip to and from the island from Overseas Highway is an event.

It may not be something we can do often; but it deserves a trip by anyone at least once who can appreciate this slice of Florida paradise.

Truly unique experience that we will never forget. There are very few places in this world like LPI. Yes, very expensive, but you know that going in. I have never had a more relaxing 3 day experience in my life. The staff is very friendly and not the least bit pretentious as you might expect. The food is incredible. The huts are very clean and comfortable. The grounds are immaculate. I only saw a total of 3 insects the whole time - 3 flies at the outside bar. Can't wait to return.
