“We loved it and we'll be back!”
Reviewed 9 August 2011

My and husband and I went here for our first anniversary and had never been here before. We had been to Maui for our Honeymoon and just loved it but we must say that we are going here every year! This place is absolutely beautiful. The service was outstanding, the room was great - it was clean and modern! We stayed in the Island Tower with a partial Ocean View. Everyone we dealt with was friendly. The prices of food is pricey on the resort but that would not hold us back from coming back!! There is a pool for the kids, and a pool for the adults and they are just awesome! The place is well set up and great for family as well as couples that want to go and relax! We are already planning to go back! Two thumbs up!

We stayed at this Marriott resort for two nights and three days. Initially, we were only going to stay for one night but leave it to Marriott to suck us in for another night's stay! :) This hotel is gorgeous inside and out. Everything from the corners of the rooms to the meticulous outside and grounds was superb quality.

We were SO excited to get there after driving the 5 hours from Key West to Marco Island. When we checked into the hotel (at 12pm) there was basically no one in the lobby (it was a Sunday night). It was very quiet and peaceful, the lobby is very well-done and the bar downstairs as well. There was also a pretty cool 1 story sandcastle in the foyer as you go down to the beach as well.

The room we were given was handicapped (not my favorite room type) and we had an issue with some green deposit on the shower head (I believe from so much salt in the air, not the hotel's fault, the climate is to blame), so we immediately called down to the front desk after we had checked in and just asked nicely if it could be cleaned in the morning. The woman on the phone couldn't have been any nicer! She immediately changed us rooms and our new room ended up being 6 floors up and 6 rooms to the right, which meant our new room was basically ocean-front!! :) We were SO impressed and very happy.

The resort is fabulous, it's very spread out so you never feel crowded, even during the day the pools weren't too crowded, and the beach barely had anyone using the pay-to-use lawn chairs. The rooms are very plushly decorated, and the colors everywhere in the hotel are so 'beachy" but elegant at the same time. The lawn chairs at the pool (and beach I presume) all have little flags on the back to put up for food/drink service which I thought was a really nice touch. The outside bar is pretty cool too, with a wraparound bar that you can look right out at the gigantic beach. I love the hot-tubs for my sunburn too.

The staff at this hotel should be commended for their hospitality and graciousness. They were all SO friendly, helpful, and just plain nice. No one was "fake-nice" to us, or pushy, rude, etc...One instance in particular, I was looking for a band-aid in the lobby and one the bellboys went completely out of his way to find me one, going as far as radioing someone to find one, going through multiple first aid kits, etc. SO NICE :)

We came to Marco Island as a get-away from Boca Raton (where my grandmother lives). We heard that the Marriott was nice here, the beaches were beautiful, shelling was great, and the everglades tour was fun too.

ALL OF THE ABOVE IS UNDERSTATED.
This is the best Marriott I have ever been to, hands down!
The sand is a white power sand (GORGEOUS)
The shelling was fabulous, everywhere we went there were tooons of shells
The everglades tour was the most fun we had on our vacation (except maybe snorkeling at Key West) (and that includes Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Key Largo, Key West, and everything else in Marco Island!)
We chose Captain Ron's Awesome Everglades Adventures in Marco Island. (http://www.evergladesjetskitours.com/Capt.Rons/Home.html). I cannot say enough about this tour!! Our tour guide, RJ, was simply the best! So amazing, patient, safety-oriented, also down-to-earth, and laid-back....SO SO nice :) During the trip we saw manatees, dolphins, birds, and just got to relax while someone else led the way through the winding turns on the everglades! It was so great going upwards of 50mph at some points and less than that to see the sights at other times...it was the absolute most perfect activity we could have done on our vacation. (Please see my complete review on TripAdvisor for Captain Ron's Awesome Everglades Adventures in Marco Island for more details and pictures - Number 1 rated in Marco Island for a reason!!) :)

****The only thing I wish I would have known sooner into our stay is that this particular Marriott will set up a FREE photo shoot (at sunset or whenever you want) and give your family/group a free picture (I think it's 8x10 but I forget) to take home of your trip, with a gorgeous ocean scenic view behind you.

***Negatives: The pool is closed after sunset, which I understand is because there would possibly be too much noise for the guests whose rooms are close to the pool. But really? SUNSET? I could see 10pm as a better compromise.
***Also regarding the pools, why are they both kid friendly?? One pool has a waterslide and some kid's water toys in it, the other is larger and in a fenced in area that could EASILY be made to be adults only. I believe this would be a big selling feature if you changed this pool to be 18+ only (at least between the hours of 7 - 10pm or something) :)

Room Tip: handicapped closet really means handicapped room entirely :)

We loved Marco Island. It is beautiful and clean with white sandy beach. The restaurants, especially Arturo's, were great. We cant wait to go back during the season as it was very hot in August. All in all, it is on the high end but worth the trip. We will definetely be back and would even consider owning.

Room Tip: Not many choices for hotels, mostly condo's.

We really had a great time at the Marriott Hotel. It's a beautiful resort right at the beach. We love the big pool area, unfortunately on the weekends there weren't enough chairs and umbrellas. Since we had our 15mth old son with us we needed a umbrella and it was hard to find on a Saturday and Sunday.
The breakfast buffet was amazing. Also the staff - esp. Bianca and Amy. They were very friendly. We didn't use the dinner restaurant, cos it seemed quite expensive, but the beach restaurants were reasonable too.
One thing we were a little disappointed about was the cleanliness esp. in our hotel room. On the first look everything was ok, but looking under the bed (what we had to do with a toddler) we found some chocolate bar paper and cheerios, and under the sink in the bathroom we found a plastic cup, which the maid didn't see during our whole stay. We stayed 6 days and they also never vacuumed the floor. Not quite sure if they changed the linen during our stay. I didn't expect such a poor housekeeping service for a four star Marriott Hotel.
But I'd like to mention that we had a fantastic stay and would like to come back anytime.

This hotel was absolutely beautiful, as so is the island. My father lives here and the island offers everything, food, recreation, and it is so clean. Great place to visit!

Problem checking in room was not ready until close to 6:00pm.But they gave us Free breakfast buffet the next day.Nice view of Gulf from room.Nice balcony and free of sand with extra lounge chair.Only big problem was parking fee (SELF PARKING) $12.50 per day.Wife and daughter used spa which is very nice.We also go to Clearwater Beach often but this time we went here and it was very nice. Our room was clean and spacious.

We stayed at this hotel on the recommendation of others, and it was wonderful. The pools and beach are spectacular, the service was really friendly and the food was good. The bedding in the rooms is great! There were lots of families with little kids, not much to do for my teens except water sports - bring $$$!!!
