“Simply Wonderful Resort & Staff!”
Reviewed 25 August 2011

We just returned from our five night stay at the Marco Island Marriott and I can't wait to go back again! This resort has it all: excellent service/staff, beautiful beach, amazing pools, and so many things aimed at pleasing both children and adults!
The rooms are very nice, with large balconies, and very spacious bath/closet areas. The beds were comfortable with nice linens and our maid service was more than acceptable especially with a bit of tipping. With regards to the concerns about the cleanliness of the rooms, our room wasn't spotless, it was acceptably clean, and was miles from "dirty or filthy"...I think that it is pretty much a matter of personal comfort when it comes to determining if a room is "clean"....So keep that in mind when reading other reviews of this resort...We saw nothing that 5 seconds with a Clorox wipe wouldn't take care of...There is an empty refrigerator in your room which was very helpful for snacks, gallon of milk for our toddler, and beer/water for the adults.
This is a huge resort, it does provide service for masses of people, mostly on the weekends (Fri-Sun)...So, avoid the weekends if lots of people are a problem for you or DECIDE to just get into an "island" state of mind and "chill out" and its all very very good!
The beach is long white full of shells and perfect for sunsets...The water is relatively shallow for quite some distance, with typically gentle waves which our three yr-old loved...Towels and loungers are free, full day umbrella on beach/$19 or 1/2 day/$12...The beach staff were friendly and helpful. The pool areas are big and beautiful for children of all ages and adults. Kudos to this resort, they have recycling areas by both pools and on each floor of rooms! This is very important for us since we see recycling as one way to keep our oceans and the Gulf cleaner and safer for all fish, manatee, & turtles etc!!
The staff are ever present, friendly, and there is no constant pressure felt for tipping that aggressive staff can project. The staff were all outstanding and warm from the front desk to the building engineer we met on our floor. There were some standouts in service that I have to mention...Angie, at the front desk, you are such a dear and once again made our stay extra special through your kindness and generosity! So good to see your smiling face again! Eren and Jackie, at the front desk, kindly took extra time to
answer any questions we had and gave some good tips too! Thanks to you all, you are standouts in providing excellent customer service! Can't wait to see you all again!
On a final note, the breakfast buffet at this resort is quite amazing...The selection is unbeatable, the price steep $22, but well worth it...My toddler was able to join us at the buffet for $1.89 (a deal)...It was truly an dining extravaganza, and I recommend trying it at least once! The fresh orange juice is really a standout too!
Enjoy your stay, and as one reviewer already stated, "Prepare to be addicted to this place!", I know we are!

Nice place, comfortable, clean, good beds. But front lobby was always so busy with a long line. Usually only 3 workers, but there was a really helpful worker with a pretty green dress who walked around with a smile and helped those in line, if she could. Restaurant (Quinn) was OK. Service was very very slow, but grouper sandwich is excellent. We had to ask for manager twice to get food and check. Had room service once for pizza. Came to room nice and steaming hot. Typical prices for hotel food, high. One night there was a loud gathering in room across the hall. I called and security was sent up within 5 minutes to check it out. And then let me know.

The room I was assigned at check-in had not been cleaned from the prior guests' stay. The prior guests' beverages were still in the room refrigerator. While soiled towels had been removed, there were no hand towels or wash clothes in the room. I realized with a shock that this state of affairs almost certainly meant that the sheets on the bed had not been replaced. Front desk staff were very appropriate. The maid that they promised to send, however, did not appear. I had to find her. She first argued with the guest in the next room, whose room key was not working, and then reluctantly turned to me. She was surly and uncooperative. Although she had not been the one tasked with cleaning the room earlier in the day, she stoutly insisted that the sheets had been changed. She had no way to know this and plainly just did not want to change the sheets. She went away for a long time, leaving my door ajar. For security and privacy reasons, I finally closed it. I had traveled all day and desperately wanted a shower but could not take one until she finslly returned and finished her work. Horrible first impression for the hotel. Also, the rum punch served at a hotel function was like dishwater, with no rum taste and little fruit taste

On the positive side, the hotel beach is gorgeous. You cannot safely walk on it at night, though, because no lights are permitted to shine on the beach (this encourages young sea turtles to head to the water). The beach is pitch black at night.

We did have a lovely dinner St nearby Arturo's restaurant. Great Italian food.

We stayed here last October and are looking forward to another visit this fall. It was a wonderful couples getaway, but the beach was so incredible that I felt totally guilty not bringing the kids!! A great hotel. Do not miss the crab sandwich in the beachside lunch shack.

Business conference with added days as a vacation. On upper floor in Palm Tower. Rooms sound proof even with music by the pool & families along the hallway. Bad pillows and dirty fingerprints on surfaces/ baseboards had grime. Wiped these surfaces immediately at check in. Had to go to local Wal-Mart for an acceptable pillow. Rooms have a cool safe in a drawer. Charged daily for internet, self park, umbrella on beach. On site food good with many options but $$$. 50 min. massage and pedicure $275 with tip! Beautiful spa and pleasurable but $$$. Parasailing was fun and accommodated special request. Cute shops and coffee area. Family member experienced slip and fall in coffee shop area with not much concern on behalf of staff on evening shift. Great pool and cleanliness in outside areas exceptional. Quinns does a good job on fish tacos, fish & chips and light chicken salad. Overall, Marco Island is a pleasure to visit and if with a family or on business this is a decent choice to suit all tastes.

Room Tip: Upper floor

We just returned from a conference at the Marriott. This is the third year it has been held here & we enjoyed the resort very much. The staff was very organized especially with check-in. Unfortunately we were given a room next to one that was being remodeled. Fortunately they only worked during the day but the hall was dirty from the work. It would have been nice to have been warned about this when we checked in.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on upper floors if you desire a view.
