“Very Nice Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2014

Spent four nights at the Marco Island Marriott. Overall I was very happy with the property. Had a nice partial ocean view, pool view room with a decent size balcony. The staff was nice, the pool areas well maintained and the beach was beautiful. Don't like the "extras they charge like for parking, internet and use of the spa facilities ($35 per day). The spa is nice though, with steam room, sauna, hot tub, cold poll showers, fitness room, etc. also has Nice out door private pool area with service. There is more than one pool on the property, one that is more adult and another that has slides for he kids. Food was good and drink pieces reasonable for a nice resort. It's in a good area, with off site restaurants not too far away.

Room Tip: It's seems like all rooms have a partial ocean view. I was on the eight floor do the island tow...

This hotel is great! The views are super in all of the main areas of the hotel. Plenty of places to hang out, grab a drink, and look at a pool or the ocean. The room was spacious and comfortable. We were on the side of the building looking over the kids' pool and beach. Loved Quinn's for food and drinks, and the bar in the sushi restaurant off the lobby!

The only potential downsides to this hotel - first, it is a large hotel so things are spread out. You may be quite a walk from the pool, beach, etc. Second - the main pool area can get crowded. Third - there are lots of kids, even in the main pool, so just be prepared for that if you think the kids are all going to be in the kids pool.

The islands in this region of Florida are beautiful, tropical paradises. I travelled to Marco Island over Christmas, and I have to say I enjoyed the experience. Overall, the hotel is beautiful, but not what initially had expected. I am used to staying in the quiet, rather secluded Sanibel & Captiva. That being said, the "resort" feel kind of hit me like a train, being used to quiet, private places. It was extremely crowded (mind you, this was Christmas), which I found to be an annoyance at first. However, within a day, I was settled in and enjoying myself. The hotel is clean, good looking, and has an awesome selection of amenities. The many restaurants were all wonderful, each with a distinct theme and flavour. The two pools are great, and the spa is also a major plus. The beach is, like every other island in the region, spectacular. It's busy, but if you find a nice spot to chill a little further down the beachfront, you're set. Finally, the shops in the lobby surprised me, and actually had some great stuff. There's 3 stores, a coffee shop, and lots of other nice goodies. Great place, I recommend it if you're into the "resort" type of feel. However, if you're not into the big, busy kind of place, this might not be the ideal place for you. To each his own!

We've stayed in many nice places and in many nice hotels... This remains among our favorites. It's the clear winner on the west side of south FL. The Naples Ritz... generally considered the best in the area... is nice, but we like this better. MUCH better when you consider the cost.

Why? The beach is awesome.... wide, sandy and spacious. You don't have people crawling all over you. If you want a cabana on the beach ($50), reserve one the day before just to be safe. But if all you want are beach chairs and an umbrella ($20/umbrella + tips), there are plenty. Beach service is plentiful. (Frozen drinks unfreeze before they get to you! Don't be dumb... get a bucket of beers!)

The hotel and rooms are renovated and very nice, and the service was good. No issues whatsoever.

The food is very good for a Marriott. (We've had bad Marriott food issues before... Note the St. Thomas Frenchmen's Reef.) The beach bar/restaurant (Quinn's) has great atmosphere and very good food (the BBQ wings are among the best I've had... and I'm from near Buffalo!... and the burgers are top notch). A little pricey... but who cares, I'm on the beach! With good beer and TV's! The lobby bar w/ sushi was very good... enjoyed it. The little pizza place is a little pizza place -- Pizza OK, salads very good. We did not try the "upscale" restaurant... Didn't look very special, but who knows.

At the end of the day, this place is great deal for the $$$.

Room Tip: Most rooms will have a good view... The higher the better.

My husband and I just returned from visiting this hotel/resort after visiting for the first time. This is such a beautiful Marriott property! Spacious rooms, fab view from a top floor and nice people!

Everyone was very accommodating and friendly and although fairly busy you never felt like you were in a crowd. The people that work there really seem like they like it which translated to us.

The two pools are lovely with great service, the beach is beautiful, clean and wide and gorgeous. We appreciated the two on-site bar restaurants because you always have a view of the water! You couldn't ask for more relaxation!

What a fantastic place to get away from the COLD! We will be back…A++

My daughter and I stayed here during a college break getaway - sadly for only 2 nights last week (wish it could have been more)..though there were no "free upgrades" for a Marriott Rewards Member, the gentleman who checked us in did put us on the 8th floor vs the 5th floor (though our member preferences reflect that we seek higher floors, away from elevator). The bathroom toiletries were nice-smelling. You get a mini fridge and a mini coffee maker. There is a mini bar as well. We were in the Islands Tower facing the "family" or children's pool (nice walk-behind waterall) and separate LARGE hot tub and the Gulf (nice view). On the other side of this tower is Quinn's pool - which appears larger and a zero-entry pool. Though the 2-Queen room was not "resort" quality (just finished a 3-night stay at Sandpearl Resort on Clearwater Beach) and as such, did not warrant the high price , we did not have to pay a daily resort fee and the valet parking was a one-time fee, not daily). We booked their "Spa Experience Package" which included one spa treatment for each of us, breakfast buffet for each in Tropix each morning, and access to Spa facilities throughout our entire stay (which included the AWESOME outdoor (adult only) Spa pool and mineral spring water soaking tub). VERY RELAXING - would be worth the $35 fee if you do not book a spa treatment. The lobby area and shopping areas are very luxurious; staff is very pleasant and helpful. 10% discount on retail purchases if resort rewards guest and You ASK. The breakfast buffet is $25, which is expensive, but the quality is delicious and includes freshly squeezed orange juice (sweet, not tart), MYO bloody mary or mimosas if you choose, coffees, etc...breakfast items only are available in morning..eggs cooked to order, omelets, freshly baked/carved ham, smoked salmon/fish, delicious cheese blintzes, AWESOME BACON, etc. We brought extras to our table which they then gave us a container to take our leftovers (muffins, danish, fruit). I was not impressed with service at Quinn's in the evening (though the live music was nice)...took too long to be greeted by hostess, longer until a server came by..so we just ordered the appetizer of coconut shrimp (which was tasty, but a little over deep-fried) and did not come with pomegranate marmalade as stated on menu, but rather typical orange marmalade. A can of Florida's White Cracker Belgium Ale was $ 6.25 - I think that is outrageous for a can of beer.
We ordered two cocktails while lounging at spa outdoor pool - server was extremely attentive and kind, though it took "Room Service" staff (+ 3.00 delivery fee and 20% gratuity) nearly 45 minutes to get one mojito and one raspberry margarita to us ( almost $32 ). I didn't fret too much...we were on vacation and the outdoor spa pool area was worth every penny !! Though my swedish massage was a little on the "deep tissue massage" end, it was still very relaxing and those 50 mins flew by...my single complaint about spa area -> TOO MUCH noise in the "relaxation area" prior to going in for your treatment -> you could hear ladies blow drying their hair and talking - there should be a sound-proof door separating the locker room area from the relaxation area vs. open door way. The grounds were meticulously groomed and the beach was kept well groomed and clean. Found lots of unique and pretty shells while walking the beach. It was very windy and cool in the evening, so didn't stay on the beach too late. I would definitely recommend this property, I would return if in area (unless I splurge more and stay at the other Marriott on the southern tip - the Crystal Shores I believe)

This is by far my favorite hotel I have stayed at (which says a lot as I have stayed well over 3000 nights in hotels over the last 20 years).

From the room setup, to housekeeping, to landscaping and all the other services and amenities it was just excellent all around. It is pricey but usually in this case it is not overpriced for the type of property and great experience.

Pool area is steps away from a white sand beach that is well kept and offers complimentary chairs (but not huts or other items) for guests. There are two pools – one that has a slide and kiddy section. Pool side chairs are extremely comfortable but you have to get there early and put your towels and maybe another item you don’t mind leaving out on the chairs to secure them for yourself. Very nice pools and hot tubs.

Rooms are spacious and many have balconies with views of the beach. I recommend the south view in the south tower – even though they host events in the evenings on that side which could have a little music and party noise (in case you want to go to sleep early).

If there was one thing I didn’t like, it was the parking. $12 per day is not too bad for self-parking at a nice resort like this and the lot is well maintained and large enough – but it is across the main road and you have to climb the steep driveway stairs to get up to the hotel.

Restaurants on site include one that specializes in pasta and pizza. Pasta is fresh made and pretty good as is the pizza. It’s pretty casual. You pick a table and go to the counter to order but they bring you the food. The location is great – near the beach with plenty of outdoor and covered seating.
The sushi bar was excellent – very inventive dishes – good service – not too formal and a relaxed atmosphere.
The pool area restaurant was also good – usual and unusual fare – good service – good quality
Considering the local restaurants were just so-so, we dined in the hotel several times and were happy with both food and price.

Room Tip: South side of the south tower had the better view but also could be noisy as they host events on tha...
