We've had a very nice visit this weekend. The sunset last night was spectacular and we watched a fire dancer by the tiki bar. The brunch was awesome! A lot of kids at the pool so if ur looking for more adults only, this would not be the place. There are many families here. Nevertheless we are relaxing and enjoying ourselves.

I traveled here with my wife and 5 yr old daughter and stayed for 5 nights. The reviews had set my expectations too high I think. Upon arrival we pulled up to the lobby and went directly to the front desk to check in. The check-in process was pretty quick and painless. After checking in my wife and daughter went to the room and I had to go park the car in the self park lot which is across the street from the resort.
Upon entering the room the first thing I noticed was the spectacular view which was over looking the pool and the beach. All the rooms have a balcony so you can take full advantage of the ocean view. The room as a whole was large and pretty nice overall. We had a one king bed and a twin pullout bed for our daughter. The room was clean and nicely furnished, but was nothing special. The bedding and pillows were just ok, but the mattress was quite hard and uncomfortable. Not really much to write home about, but nothing to complain about either.
Having never been to Marco Island we were looking forward to spending time on a nice beach in the nice gulf water. Again I think our expectations were too high. We lived in Jacksonville FL for 4 years and spend plenty of time on the Atlantic side where the sand is not that great with lots of sharp shells and the water is murky. Well the Marco beach was pretty much the same except the sand was white instead of brown. The water was murky as well, you couldn't see more than a few inches down. The water was very calm most of the trip, but was almost 90 degrees so it was not refreshing at all. There was just not much to enjoy at the beach, nothing to see in the water, no waves and hot water. The drink service at the beach was pretty much non-existent, once in a while you would see a cart carrying drinks, but good luck flagging them down.
The 2 pools were pretty nice, but they were crowded with rows of chair jammed right next to each other. My biggest complaint revolves around the never ending chair game that you must play if you want a chair at all. People start saving chairs around 7am and if you don't get out before 9am you probably wont get chair at all or you will spend most of your time wandering the pool deck looking for someone to leave. So every morning before breakfast we had to play the game and place our towels and some sort of personal item on 3 chairs so we could have a place. People would literally place towels out in the morning and not come to the pool all day! This really needs to be addressed by management and one of the reasons I will not be coming back to this resort. They do place cards on the chairs saying their items will be removed if no one comes in the next hour, but never actually do. One afternoon after not saving chairs we attempted to find some chairs and noticed a card on two chairs that was placed out there at 9am, so the chairs were saved for about 5 hours with no one there. So I took it upon myself to move the towels and we sat down. I left for about 5 mins and during that time the "owners" of the chairs showed up and lectured my wife on how those chairs were theirs and to move after 5 hours of not using them. They were very rude saying that they had been coming to this resort for 20 years and everyone saves chairs and we should learn that and do the same. This sense entitlement is ridiculous, but I guess management has set the expectation that this is ok after doing nothing about it for so long.
A couple of other notes of interest. The food and drinks are insanely expensive, rivaling 5 star resorts in Hawaii. Fish tacos $18, $7+ for a can of beer, $12 for a frozen drink and the food was not very good and the drinks pretty weak. We took advantage of the kids club one day for our daughter and she really had a good time ($70 for the day). We also did the shelling and dolphin tour one morning which was really fun and definitely worth doing. If you do go I recommend the morning tour and doing the one on the small catamaran with only 6 guests per boat.
Overall I would actually have rated the resort 3.5 stars. There is nothing really great to talk about and the only major complaint was the chair issue at the pool, but if you spend $250-$300 a night you expect something great and this resort does not deliver. Just nothing special...

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our resort. We are delighted that you enjoyed your room and specular view overlooking the pool and beach. We hope you had the opportunity to enjoy our breathtaking sunsets from your room. We are also glad your daughter had a good time in our kid’s camp. We agree that our sailing and shelling experience is worth doing and happy to hear you had fun. We are sincerely sorry that you did not find the bed comfortable. We will have our Director of Service inspect the condition and quality of all our mattresses. Our pools continue to be a favorite designation for many of our guests. Our process of placing cards on the pool lounge chairs is to prevent guests from reserving chairs and not using them. However, we are sorry that we were not able to provide you with a relaxing atmosphere around the pool. Your feedback is valuable as it will give us an opportunity to address the challenges you experienced, as we strive to maintain the highest customer service.

This is the second time we stay at the Marriott Marco Island resort, we love it! The ocean is always warm and calm, the sand is super soft and white! No matter where your room is, if you are on an upper floor, you'll have a beautiful view of the ocean!

Only complaint is that unless you get up at 8am, go down to the pool and leave towels on pool chairs, you'll never get a chair! We got up at 9am and we were not able to get any chairs near the pool, there were only 5 people in the adult pool and no chairs available! Only chairs available were at the Tiki pool on the second level patio! The resort should not allow this, we may skip this resort next year for this reason!

There are great restaurants on the Island, 2 are musts for all, Guy and Lisa's Philly Grill and Nacho Mama's.

One you should avoid is at the Hilton Paradise café, the Seafood Buffet on Friday nights. None of the warm food was hot, they had Mahi Mahi overcooked and very very dry, disappointing. Shrimp and scallop pasta was made while you ate, then put into a warmer to serve yourself, taste was good but pasta got mushy and shrimp rubbery! For $36 per person, it should be better. They advertise a Seafood buffet yet the selection does not really reflect it, and considering they are next to the ocean the quality of the food lacked.

My husband and I are finishing our week at the Marriott in Marco Island and all I have done is relax, walk on the beach and eat. Every day for lunch we are at Quinn's on the Beach or we just stay by the pool and order what we want. The staff is just great and after the first day they already knew us and what we liked - thank you to Teddy, Tiffany, Tara, Annie, Susan and all the other members of the team! You made our vacation great. Ps- Love the fish sandwich and my mojito. Now it is time for me to leave my chair and go for my beach walk!

I could pick apart this resort for a hundred little things that might only bother me but there are several important ones that should be pointed out. This resort is heavily geared toward kids and families. So if you are looking for a quiet or adult get away this isn't the place. The resort fee which offers internet in your room has too many other things attached to it like free kids breakfast, kayak rentals, golf, etc. If you need in room internet it's $15 a day or you can sit in the lobby for free. With 727 rooms this resort is very short on restaurant seats, pool size, pool chairs, and shops.
The restaurants close way too early most by 9 pm. Maybe that's why you can't get into them because people are forced to eat early or go off property. Marco island is a very small place so its selections are limited. By the same token the kids arcade stayed open until midnight. Also you have to wear a wristband as a guest. But it's not all inclusive so I don't understand the purpose of wearing a plastic wristband in 95 degree heat. It's not all bad. Staff were friendly and the rooms were clean. Parking is adequate.

We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and we will always do everything possible to ensure your complete satisfaction. We offer 8 restaurants on property and for your convenience 2 of them remain open until midnight. We require wristbands during the summer and holidays to ensure all the amenities around the pool and beach remain exclusive to you. We are proud to offer internet complimentary in the lobby, but also like to give guests alternative options in their room, and therefore we included it in our resort fee. Although Marco Island is a small island, it was rated #1 island in the USA by Tripadvisor. Thank you for sharing your experience and the positive feedback on the cleanliness of the resort and the overall staff friendliness. We look forward to welcoming you back to paradise.

We are Marriott Rewards cardholders and just returned from four days at this Marriott Resort with our daughter and 4-year old grandson. My husband and I have been there before, but it was our daughter's first time, and her 4-year old couldn't get enough of the beach and pool, which were awesome. The room was nice, and we had a nice view of the pool and gulf, but we were surprised to find a single shoe under one of the beds (we were looking for a lost flip flop), plus a cotton swab and a few strands of hair on the bathroom floor. We always make a point of leaving a tip for housekeeping each day, as we know how hard they work, but these were unfortunate mistakes that we had to witness first off. I agree with other reviews regarding the blue wristband...we didn't understand its meaning, or how it was monitored. The "dibs" on pool lounge chairs were humorous at first, and we soon learned how to "play the game," but that practice needs to be addressed. Placing a towel on lounge chairs at 8:00 a.m. to hold them for an hour (or more, which we noticed) is ridiculous. When you're ready to actually stay at the pool, that is when you deserve to occupy a chair. Although we had four chairs for our family, we gave up two of them to other unsuspecting guests as a courtesy, when there were none other available...and this was only mid-morning!! We did not have any problems getting chairs at the beach. We ate on-property only three times, as the prices were exorbitant. We had dinner twice at Quinn's...superb service by Maria on the first night, and over-the-top from Tiffany on the last night. Cudos to them both for making our dining experience pure delight. The only negative was the choking price of a chardonnay...$50 a bottle for a mediocre label that retails for $11...almost five times retail, and in a plastic glass! Ugh. We had a lovely bottle of cabernet at a nearby high-end restaurant for $51, which retailed for $25. There would be no comparison in volume of sales of large resort vs. small restaurant, so why gouge your guests? As more and more guests choose alternative methods of eating and drinking (local restaurants and liquor stores), Marriott might want to revisit some of their pricing, but with a renovation coming up, I'm guessing it will go the other way. Regardless, we want to thank the resort staff for their hard work and the attention they give to guests.

Like kids? Go here! Might as well have been in Orlando

Went with family and ( 2 teenage girls) but was overwhelmed by little kids! No chairs at the pool. Wait in line for one on the beach (which were old and in bad shape) People litter terribly on the beach - real shame

The lobby is pretty and rooms are adequate but this is not a place of elegance, good service or anything that resembles a resort that is attentive. Should have picked up on speed of the place since it has a video arcade

Lobby sushi bar is fine but incredibly over priced for sushi that has tons of rice with no emphasis on fish as primary ingredient.

Girls went to the spa which came to $320 for 2 facials. Nice time but value not seen

I cant say all is terrible. Just don't expect to be impressed

Room Tip: Get floor 11. Small suites with large terrace

Green Features: Look out for turtle eggs! Otherwise people litter the beach - awful!
