What great place to go and stay. The resort is impeccable, from front to back ,top to bottom. The grounds are so well maintained on a daily basis ,was met every morning by someone with a pleasurable greeting .Meagan C. at the front desk was so accommodating towards my family.Every one from the velet ,to the bell service , house keeping (the room was super cleaned every day) the wait staff at Quinns ( what a bunch of nice people in there). All in all what a great place to get away for a while. We will be return again

We attended a convention at the resort and at the convention rate we figure we got a terrific bargain! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The maids were friendly and accommodating. Our room was on the fifth floor and we felt we would likely have the usual convention view of the roof but not so! We had a lovely view of the gulf and the grounds of the resort. Our room had a balcony and we enjoyed sitting out there to enjoy the lovely sights. We ate Quinn's multiple times because the food was delicious. We especially loved the fish tacos! It was a little pricey but we preferred the beach view at sunset to driving to another place to eat so it was worth it to us. The beach was fun as were the pools. On Saturday night the convention banquet was the best meal I have ever had at such an event. The resort fee included bottle water, towels and other amenities and valet parking was reasonable. The only thing I would criticize would be the lack of free wi-fi in the room.

The resort is a five star resort . The rooms are amazing and the service could not be better. The beach is beautiful. the view from the room was spectacular!!! There is a downside. The resort has like 5 restaurants onsite. They are way to expensive. I suggest you bring your own food like everyone else does.

Room Tip: Ask for a partial view. You get the pool and the beach in one spectacular view.

Great experience. Go on jet ski tour with Brian. Restaurants at the hotel are some of the best in Marco Island. Try the marriott burger. Spa is top notch. Conventions can be irritating. I would definitely come back.

Just finishing up a fantastic 7 days at the property with our 4 and 7 year olds. Everyone had a blast and I can say that the hotel, rooms and facilities are very well kept. Staff is also very good and we no issues with any interactions - from the moment we pulled up in our car we had barely parked and our doors where already opened and greeted with a friendly welcome.

My only suggestion to management would be a review of the prices for the beach rentals - I would say that very conservatively only 2-5% of the equipment is ever in use at any given time, why not lower the prices and make better utilization of the beach staff, equipment and opportunity to increase guest satisfaction - everyone wins.

Will be coming back again next year.

Jessica greeted me with a warm welcoming smile and a bubbly personality. She listened to what I desired and also provided some great suggestions that would enhance my face shape and hair type. She even turned me on to some great new products that can deal with this crazy Florida humidity that creates friz! She is very pleasant and very experienced. I would highly recommend her to anyone young or old, she has range. She makes it an enjoyable experience and day outing and of course the spa is beautiful and full service. You will not be disappointed! Enjoy!

The Marco Island Marriott is a beautiful property with an overall excellent staff that suffers from something that Marriott can control but chooses not to -- an influx of low class bargain seekers. If Marriott did away with off-peak $149 room rates, the Bud-drinking cigarette-hiding, cooler-toting clientele would likely find another place to stay.

One can only hope.

The Marriott Marco Island has, incredibly, maintained its appeal and attractiveness over more than 25 years. The beach front property is simply stunning and it has overall mastered the mix of being kid friendly without being Disney.

But when the room rates fall, so does the "class" displayed by the guests. Parents let their kids run wild while posting to Facebook about their kids (instead of putting down the phone and playing with them). Grown-ups, who you would hope know better, toss hard plastic balls in the area of a pool designed for toddlers, completely incredulous to the fact that a hard plastic ball hitting a two year old's head is normally not a vacation highlight. Want to see something memorable on your trip? How about a man in his 50s, weighing at least 250, jumping into a 3 foot-deep kiddie pool and complaining that he hit the bottom. And then there are the smokers. Marriott is a smoke-free hotel chain. It's a reason so many choose Marriott as a family-friendly destination. But that doesn't stop smokers from puffing pool-side with their cans of Bud as Marriott employees look on. Marriott needs to deal with this problem.

While Marriott staffers are clearly in a difficult spot -- maintaining order while letting guests enjoy their vacations -- the hands-off attitude displayed by many of the staff members is the sort of thing that would likely give Marriott's general counsel heart palpitations. The college student assigned to evenly spacing kids sliding down a water slide didn't think twice about letting kids slide just seconds apart -- colliding in the water. He laughed as he recalled one child scraping her nose at the bottom of the slide just days earlier. If Marriott is going to staff the slide, Marriott needs to monitor the staffing of the slide.

Marriott's policy is that it does not lifeguard pools. This provides cover in the case of litigation -- and that's understandable. But as soon as you have a staff member assigned to police a slide, the company needs to set and follow policy to create a safe environment. You can't have chaos and order. Marriott needs to choose one and go with it.

Aside from the pool, cooler, smoking and idiot parents issues, there are a few operational issues that deserve mention.

1. The food is really bad. Quinn's on the beach is set in such a beautiful location that one wonders if the goal is distracting diners from the low quality, high price of the food. It just isn't good, even when it comes to bar food. There is no reason that Marriott can't up the quality of the food that is served.

2. The beach inexplicably doesn't open until 9. Sure, the waves are cresting 24 hours a day, but if you want a chair, don't expect access until 9am. This is a resort. A resort that is marketed as kid friendly. Kids don't sleep until 8:30 most of the time. Beach chairs, umbrellas and staff need to be available for use by 8a. I have never seen a resort where this isn't the case.

3. Illy is Silly. There is no Starbucks on this property -- somewhat odd for Marriott -- but there is the "Illy" brand. Illy is faux-French complete with faux-French employees with real French attitude and pricing. Ever pay $4 for a small iced-coffee that's watered down? Resort pricing is one thing. Usery is something else. Sure, you could get in your car and drive to a nearby 'bucks, but that isn't really the point. Marriott can do better.

4. Parking. If you think your $12/night self-parking charge gets you protected parking 24 hours a day, think again. An early walk to the parking lot showed open gates and not an employee to be found. So what's the $12 for?

The Marco Island Marriott is, overall, a very nice property that is great for kids. Just check pricing before you go, and if cheap room rates are available, you may want to consider the potential clientele it may attract. But if you can suck it up for a few days, your kids will love it, and you will almost assuredly have a good time as well.
