There are good things about this property that made it a nice vacation. This hotel is beach front with an easy walk to the beach. The beach chair rentals and umbrellas was "reasonable" at $105 per week that included two cushioned loungers and umbrella (compared to some locations that charge $35-50 per day). If you are HGVC owner the kayaks, paddle boards, and Hobie cats are free to use. They will even take you sailing on the Hobie for free if you are not familiar with sailing. The property is beautifully landscaped and maintained. The pool is clean and newer. A huge outdoor grill to use was very nice too. No restaurant or bar on site so stop at the grocery store to stock up before you check in. There is also a 7-11 across the street and a group of restaurants within walking distance. There is no liquor store close by so if you like your cocktail with sunsets, stock up! I was surprised to not find a pool bar here.
The beach is gorgeous with lots of shells and white sand. The Gulf of Mexico water was very warm, close to 90 degrees.
The room itself was OK, comfortable and homey. The master bedroom was large and had the standard comfortable "Hilton style" bed. That made me happy. The master bathroom was clean but on the cheaper side with plastic shower insert and weird shower doors. I liked the huge walk-in closet with safe and hooks on the wall. Larger sliders opened to double balcony with table, chairs and loungers. The second bedroom and bathroom was very disappointing and not the Hilton standard, more like Motel 8. The beds had old dated bedspreads and a sheet, that's all. Old (really old!) weird blankets were in the closet if you didn't want to use the bedspread for warmth. There was black mold growing in ceiling, the room was tiny with just enough room to walk around beds and an old tube TV crowded the small dresser. The beds were twin size and the room was really small, I'm not sure how this unit accommodates 4-6 adults? Important if you're traveling with a group - This unit only sleeps 4 unless you want to use the pull out in the living room. The second bathroom was old and small with a weird drop ceiling that made a loud vacuum sound every time you opened the bathroom door.
The kitchen was OK, but not what I have experienced in other HGVC properties. Granite counters were cheap, very standard white cabinets and appliances. Nice dining area with large table, a dated but well used bar area, and comfortable living area. Tile floors in DR and Kitchen were OK but the grout had never been cleaned and stained black in most areas. Huge balcony was nice, however if you are in the south building (further away from beach), the north building partially blocks your water view if you are in the corner room (we were room 204 corner room). There is no mid-week maid service and if you want clean towels or sheets you need to bring them down to housekeeping on Tue and Thurs between 9 and 10 AM only. There is a washer and dryer but they are very small and can only accommodate two beach towels at a time.
The good and bad....the place has so much potential but when I travel using my HGVC points it's usually with family and or group of friends and we need that extra space. For that reason I would not return as the bedroom space does not meet our expectations. If you're just a couple traveling or family with two young children then it be OK.
