This is an ok place if you are looking to get away, kick up your feet and just relax. We came to this place through an RCI timeshare exchange. As for Gold Crown status - pushing it, but the resort does have a very nice pool and beach access.
If you want to layout by the pool - you have to get their early to get seating.. people tend to go down early and drop towels/books/toys on prime chair locations or grab the tables with umbrellas and leave.. no rules against this. Very annoying habit of individuals. Some resort now have rules against this practice, this place did not..
During our stay, the majority of the people there were 'regular week owners' so most people knew one another. They had been going there for years. If your a 'guest'.. as we were... the regulars are not overly friendly or outgoing- nor was the staff. They knew who owned and who was just there as a guest. Don't bother on the 'weeks' meet and greet session. Little cups of OJ with a splash of sparkling wine accompanied by plain or powdered doughnuts where the Mimosas’ and appetizers.
The resort had great access to the white sandy beach. Great shelling either in the morning or at night during low tide. We were there the last week of June '06.
There are two main condo buildings and a Office/maintenance building. One condo building runs parallel to the beach and the other faces the pool. There are two tennis courts in the front of the complex near the road. The condo rooms are adequate. On par with most beach front type resorts.
Like many beach front units, the first level units are on the 2nd floor - or raised so you have to climb stairs. This also enables you to park your car under your unit. We had a unit with two bedrooms (1 king & 2 singles). Two bathrooms. Wet bar, kitchen - minimally stocked, living area and a dining table off to the side. There was a screened in balcony with a ceiling fan. We had a unit with a beach view. During the last weeks of June and beginning of July, this is the turtle mating season. Meaning condos with beach front view could have no exposed lighting to confuse the turtles. Drapes had to be drawn, no balcony lights allowed, etc. This eliminated all beach breezes if you want the windows opened.
Fees for mid week cleaning, you can go get new towels and bedding if you take your items to exchange to the maintenance building twice a week. You have to rent beach chairs or water activity items from an outside company on the beach.
If you like to walk the beach, this is a nice place to do that at. Though there are many parts of the beach that are marked 'Private' so you have to stay tight to the water line...
Are we going to go back to Marco Island again? No.
Of all the Islands we have stayed on along the gulf, this was probably our least enjoyed experience. Sanibel and Captive so far have been the best.
