“Cape Romano Kayak/camping”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

Cape Romano is a cape at the southern end of Caxambas Island, just south of Marco Island and northwest of the Ten Thousand Islands in Collier County, Florida. That only means that we have 9999 islands to explore. We had a terrific time while kayaking/camping there last week.

“Hurry before they're gone..”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

This boat access only strip of beach has several 60's "igloo" style buildings, which once were someone's home. Google the story. Anyway, they are now standing in the Gulf...soon to be history. Worth the boat ride.

“Must See”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

Cape Romano has it all for Marco visitors, and even full-timers. First is the iconic dome house, now partially submerged, after decades of storms and beach erosion. Very interesting history. Second, it is a very good fishing spot, with many gulf species cruising the flats, ranging from pompano, redfish to sharks, including the abundant bonnet heads to the bigger-boy bulls and blacktips. Boater beware though: the tidal current is quite strong at the point, and there are numerous shallow sand bars and reefs that are unmarked, some of which shift considerably with time. Watch the locals and tour guides to see the safe passages.

“A Bit of History”
Reviewed 16 January 2014

It is a beautiful island that is home, for now, to the dome homes. An interesting bit of history that one would enjoy reading more about. It is a prime example of what Mother Nature can do with the force of water over time. Soon they will be gone. I recommend booking a trip to see them with Dreamlander Tours. Their knowledge of the area and history of this site is unsurpassed. Enjoy it while you can!

“Abandon Domes of Cape Romano”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

Weird abandon dome homes. Find their interesting history with an internet search. They are on the Gulf about 5 miles south of Marco Island. It is only possible to reach them by either private boat or on a sea shell tour. Shelling is wonderful at the beach near the domes. Excellent reviews of "Sea Shell Boat Tours" on Marco Island, also reviewed on tripadvisor are available to read.
