Eagle's Nest on Marco Beach
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 24 April 2014

Exchanged our timeshare via Interval Int and got this place. I have never had to pay to park until now, no maid service which meant no clean towels or tidying up, white fuzzy mold on the sides of smallest pool known to man. These are just some of the reasons I would never stay in this very old and tired establishment. I will say the beach is gorgeous and Marco Island overall is lovely. George & Tracy McNamara

We've stayed at Eagle's Nest 5 times in the last 12 years and so we are familiar with the property. We are not timeshare owners, and I think that this fact can cloud other reviewers, after all, if you are an owner and you want to rent it out to someone or sell it (good luck) you don't want negative reviews published on the property.

First the good:
The property is located in the center of the beach, and has a beautiful view of the beach. There has been much investment into the property including the renovated kitchens and bathrooms. Maintenance seems to be kept on top of and the exterior appears to always be in good condition. Every room in the tower is spacious and has a view of the gulf. And, it's great to have a washer and dryer in your room.

Now the reasons for "average":
We stayed at the Eagle's Nest both before and after they remodeled. The facility was in serious need of a refresh and it is 100% better now than before. But, there are things that they cheapened that impacts the guest. One of the biggest is the linen quality in the bedrooms. In our most recent stay, there were holes in the comforter in the master bedroom and the sheets were extremely thin. The pillows were lumpy and "used" and the bed had a significant depression in it, as if it needed to be flipped, turned or maybe replaced. They definitely don't live up to the rest of the resort. There are also "corners" of the resort that haven't been renovated. The first floor of the tower needs to be remodeled, particularly the workout room, as it feels worn and dingy. Other examples of areas are things like the lights on the tennis courts, one of the towers is missing a light. Not a huge deal, but my 5 year-old noticed it and it's one of those things that wouldn't be acceptable at other resorts.

Most recently, we have stayed the last two years and both years we ran into issues with the front desk not communicating information to coworkers. I am not sure how it is managed, but there are some superstars (Brian) and then some not so great performers...if you don't want to do what you do, find another job. There are some employees that seem to be wanting to do anything but the job that they are doing...

Likewise the "Fun Bunch" kids programming is generally pretty good, but we found it odd that when they had their "outdoor" games planned it wasn't noted anywhere that the kids would need tennis shoes. Every single parent had to run off and go get shoes. Some planning ahead would be appreciated, especially since it's done every single week!

These things may seem like nitpicking and they probably are, but they are guest impacting.

I also found it interesting that the pool-side massages were scheduled at the same time the Villas were having their screens redone and painting. The noise was considerable and kept us away from the pools the days they were being done...but we had to go to the beach...darn. And, I'm not going to complain about a property investing in its infrastructure.

One question that I have that may impact those in the future is that the Marriott next door is going to be doing some pretty considerable renovations/buildings in the next few years. Eagle's Nest is going to be right under some of this construction. The noise from this will impact guests staying here and is probably something people need to consider.

Room Tip: First couple of floors may not have full screen porches...many of those on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th flo...

We've been coming to the Eagle's Nest every January since 1987 and it never disappoints! It is well maintained and has a super friendly staff. The daily lunches at the pool are great and the poolside bingo is fun for all.

This is our second time to Marco Island and the first time to Eagle's Nest, a Hilton Vacation Club property. We loved the two bedroom villa we had. It had a huge screened in porch, a full kitchen and overlooked the pool and gulf. The room had been recently renovated with upscale furnishing. I am already planning my next trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a villa, they are bigger than the rooms in the highrise.

They have renovated all of the rooms and still have that A+ view of the beach/ocean! The guests (and owners) here are very friendly and treat each other like a second family. If you haven't stayed here before I would highly suggest trying it out!

Room Tip: I prefer staying in the tower units, but some prefer the villas since they are closer to the beach a...

Second bedroom has twin beds....that's all they offer. No insulation in walls or ceilings. You hear everything. Bbqs won't light without a match any more. The resort is 30 years old and could use some TLC. Have stayed in other Hilton resorts that are much nicer. Pool area was wonderful, however if you want a chaise and umbrella on the beach you will pay $25 a day. The grounds of the resort are very tropical and well maintained.
Shelling on the beach was far better than the renowned Sanibel Island next door. Access to the beach is great and there are facilities to wash the sand off as you exit.

Room Tip: The first and second floors will have limited beach views unless you are dead center near the elevat...

My family and I have been coming to the Nest for almost 30 years! I has always been a very special place for us because of the beauty of the area and the Nest itself. It has always been well maintained, but now with the recent renovation, it is super. The staff is always very friendly and helpful, especially for the kids (Fun Bunch, movies, bingo) and adult activities (pool volleyball, bingo, bean-bag toss, pool golf, etc.). Of course, there's always the tennis and racquetball courts and fitness room for the more active types. I'll take lounging on a chaise at the pool or down at the beautiful white-sand beach. And have I mentioned the views and sunsets ... Wow! In short, it's a great family resort. Unfortunately, we've moved to Germany and the rules about taking kids out of school are very restrictive, and we'll have to greatly curtail our trips to the Nest in the future. We'll miss the Nest more than words can say. :-(

Room Tip: The higher the better in the tower for the best views.
