Review of Bear Paw Escape

Bear Paw Escape

We rented a canoe for a few hours to paddle down the creek/river. Although the young lady at the counter was not very knowledgeable, everyone else was. The driver that took us to the head of the spring and was very helpful and told us where we needed to paddle to get back to the point of origin. Lovely paddle, lots of cypress knees, turtles, and clear spring fed water.

We have taken a bearpaw adventure as well as doing the river by ourselves. The river winds all through Jackson County starting from the NW near Bellamy Bridge ending in the SE where it joins the Appalachicola River which continues on to the Gulf of Mexico. Bear Paw offers all types of river trips which start at Spring Creek ( Hwy 90 ) near Marianna at the dam for the lake. It is very popular for all ages and a great trip for the hot summer days. The water is very clear and cool and there is plenty of shade along the whole route. The scenery is great, you feel like you are exploring North Fl as a pioneer.

Well let me start this off that we got there at 9 am and there was no one there and we waited for almost an hour to be seen. The place was completely empty. The owner came and gave us our braceletes and let hs pick our kayaks. The ride to the river was like almost 20 mins away from the property. We kayaked for almost 5 hours in the rain. We found two springs which was awesome. I totally recomend this for anyone wanting to relax and see something different. And for the price which wasnt bad at all. Its good for he whole entire family.

We have gone here for a close by family canoe trip... never had a problem!!! As to the guy in the storm... if you can't check the weather before you go out you shouldn't be on a river, and they don't control the rivers water levels and I bet you didn't ask... they are a canoe livery and tube rental... and as far as I'm concerned they are good at it.. only complaint is idiots that sink their beer cans.. game wardens will stop you and look in coolers for empties no empties means littering ticket if you have been consuming alcohol as it should.

Just went this last weekend with a group of students, so much fun. There is a rope swing and a few trees to jump off! Bring two cars, one to park at the end and one at the begin... we had to hitch hike back because we left our keys. Takes 4 hours so bring snacks! NO GLASS or underage drinking, the cops stopped us. Kids behind us got 250 fine for glass no exceptions. Bring tubes already blown up! Definitely going back!
