Description: Under new management from the 26th of September 2016, the new tenants are here to rediscover the charm and beauty of The Crown. It is situated in the beautiful village of Puncknowle, close to Chesil beach and five miles from Bridport and West Bay (The fictional 'Broadchurch' in the popular ITV drama). The Crown is a traditional thatched 16th century Inn serving home-cooked food, real ales and a great selection of other drinks. Friendly and welcoming, The Crown is popular with walkers, families and with dog owners, who's four legged friends are welcomed with open paws inside the comfortable pub with its roaring log fires. Leather sofas and traditional pub games entice you to relax and enjoy your drink or food. Regularly changing with the seasons and with new produce, The Crown's menus are of the highest quality, with hearty flavours of good traditional British food. Wherever possible the kitchen sources produce locally for use not only in its main menus, but also in its regularly changing specials and desserts. In the summer, there is a lovely garden, overlooking the Bride Valley, for you to relax in the sunshine, savouring a long, cool drink. Its mature shrubs and lovely views, offer a peaceful world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. For those travelling, you might consider booking their en-suite room for the night - with its windows looking out over the old church you may be greeted by the bells ringing on a Sunday but, other than that, you should sleep peacefully! Of course, for those of you who want to include the whole family in your stay, the room is dog friendly. Since November 2013 the pub is proud to incorporate the village shop in its premises selling local goods, home-made food, fresh fruit and vegetables and much more.

my family many many years ago used to live a few doors away, and couple of hundred years ago, used to own the Crown.
this place needs to learn to speak to their staff (when in public) and also learn what a chip is.

Good British Fair and more with a constantly changing menu. All freshly cooked and much locally produced.

Spent a wonderful sunny Sunday here eating yummy food in their gorgeous garden. And, although it was an hour's drive to get there, we'll definitely be returning as the welcome, service and food were all exceptionally good. (Plus it's near the coast in a really pretty part of Dorset.)

I had the home-cured lime and thyme salmon - wow, it was amazing. Then I stuffed myself with roast beef and the crispiest but lightest roast potatoes I've ever eaten (heaven) - and it was under £10. My husband had the speciality sausages which he said were incredibly tasty (he was still talking about them the next day).

Service was speedy and good, with the landlords(?) periodically checking that all was OK. We'll definitely go again and try and leave room for the puds!

Three of us stopped here for lunch enroute to nearby West Bay. We sat in the very pleasant rear garden and ordered 5 dishes from the Tapas menu to share. These were delivered on some slates, looked gorgeous and tasted divine. The Dorset smokies and three cheeses were my 2 favourites. Washed down with a pint of Thatchers Gold cider it made for an excellent lunch in the sunshine.

we stayed at the local campsite and decided to eat at the crown after reading other reviews. we were met with friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. We both ordered the surf and turf which was amazing. the quality and size of the steak was brilliant, so nice to get a steak cooked the way you ordered it, and the price was excellent value. We ended up staying all evening, retiring to the bar where we were greeted by the locals and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Would definitely recommend this pub on friendliness, value and great food. well worth a visit.
