“So much nature in one place!”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

This is a wetland's nature preserve, not an amusement park. You drive through the power company lot to get to a series of roads raised above the hugh "ponds". You can walk the paths and roads, or as most people do, you can drive the roads very slowly, stopping when you want, to see the birds, alligators and other wildlife. This is a great opportunity for people less mobile that may want to stay in the AC and comfort of the car, or adventurous types who prefer to walk or bike. Unless it's changed, it's only open on weekdays when the power plant is open; I have never seen more than a few cars or people there at one time. Again, there are no fences between you and nature, just the open space. There are a few viewing spots with a table and shade - a great place to take pics from. This is a truly wonderful place that not even all the locals know of. I like early mornings best. Take your time and really look, it's great!

“Hit or Miss”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

This is a place, where you may see lots of wildlife or maybe not...it really depends on the time of the year, the weather, etc. If you have a high speed camera with zoom, you can get some nice shots of birds, turtles, etc.

Can be boring to little ones and kids who need lots of action...

“Love this Area”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

We take bikes or drive to the wetlands in Viera. The scenery is always changing. Sometimes we see many different birds and sometimes alligators. Many people walk or jog through the area.

“A Walk in the Wetlands of Viera Florida”
Reviewed 1 June 2013

A free to the public wetland park with walking, bicycling, and some motor accessible paths. a relatively short and easy walk that weaves though a birds paradise of Cranes, Egrets, Cormorants, ibises, and so many more. Great photo opportunities for the novice bird watcher. Then there is the resident otter, as well as an alligator or two. Located west at the very end of Wickham road, and just past the water reclaim station on the left. I would recommend the Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands to bird watchers, and those with a desire to see Florida's lush greenery inland from the popular beach areas of Melbourne and Cocoa beach.
