This is a wetland's nature preserve, not an amusement park. You drive through the power company lot to get to a series of roads raised above the hugh "ponds". You can walk the paths and roads, or as most people do, you can drive the roads very slowly, stopping when you want, to see the birds, alligators and other wildlife. This is a great opportunity for people less mobile that may want to stay in the AC and comfort of the car, or adventurous types who prefer to walk or bike. Unless it's changed, it's only open on weekdays when the power plant is open; I have never seen more than a few cars or people there at one time. Again, there are no fences between you and nature, just the open space. There are a few viewing spots with a table and shade - a great place to take pics from. This is a truly wonderful place that not even all the locals know of. I like early mornings best. Take your time and really look, it's great!
