Had to stay in town several days for business. The location is good, and while the hotel is a bit dated, think about other options in Melbourne, is anything really better?
Stayed on the concierge level. This is nothing compared to the concierge level of hotels like a Ritz, but ... it was nice to have a floor that you could only get to with your key that added to a feeling of security. It was convienient to have a quick breakfast in the morning even though there were not a lot of choices. Boiled eggs, coffee, juices, cereal, fruit, pasties, etc. Wine in the evening, no extra charge, but ... not very good quality wines.
Very clean room with plenty of room and a comfortable king bed.
Coffee maker in room.
Adequate bar with a friendly bar tender.
Biggest negative was the restaurant. Slow service and one night for dinner the chicken was served raw in the center. They would do better if they could hire a chef and assistants that could put out good meals more quickly and properly cooked.More
