Nothing really wrong with the hotel itself, it's just the location. Very run down area that does not feel safe. This is backed up by the "safety tips" in the room.
Use all 3 locking devices on the door (the doors are flimsy despite these)
Check all window locks are on
Do not open the door at night to anyone claiming to be from the hotel without phoning the front desk first
Do not use side entrances at night
Make sure you're not followed
Don't display obvious wealth
The list goes on but at that point we put our stuff back in the car, returned the room keys and left.
The motel layout added to the feeling of insecurity as it was obvious that anyone off the street could access all areas of the hotel.
A shame because the room was fine and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We may have been overly cautious but we've staid in some pretty varied locations and you get to know when a place has a bad vibe. The hotel photos disguise its location very well, if I'd seen the surrounding area first I wouldn't have booked it and for the same money you can get a lot better elsewhere.
