After attending an all day meeting at the Downtown Hilton, my group gathered in the lobby bar to unwind. Our server's name was Angelena and I wanted to recognize the fantastic job she did with our group. She was prompt, organized, extremely friendly and maintained a pleasant attitude.

We stayed here for one night (27-28 Dec) to attend a NBA match at American Airline Arena. The view from the room was beautiful, the staff very helpful and the room itself very spacious and clean. Downside was that we did not have internet in our room. If you go to lobby or business area there was free wifi.
Location wise it is a few minutes walk from Metromover station (free public transport which takes you around downtown Miami), which we took to get to AA Arena for the match. The area itself is a little shady as we encountered a few homeless persons. Right opposite the hotel is a Checkers and Burger King which are opened late (great for midnight snack ;)

We probably won't come back as we would prefer to stay somewhere more bustling but if you are looking to stay just for a night or two to go to surrounding events it is worth it.
We paid 200USD for a kingsize bedroom. Guess the prize was inflated due to new years season.

With stunning views of the Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline, the Hilton Miami Downtown is a prime location for quick access to the best that the city has to offer. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us. Although there is an internet fee within our guestrooms, we do offer complimentary wireless internet throughout the public areas of the hotel as well as within our Business Center. We hope you will consider returning to the Hilton Miami Downtown, as it would be our pleasure to have you stay with us again.

I had to spend my last night in Miami, and in Downtown I found this Hilto more convenient than the Hyatt, where I spent a couple of nights ten days before.
The parking was just fine: as i already wrote just pick the valet service because a) you don't want to look for a parking in this neighborhood and b) the difference between valet and single entry is risible.
The hotel is conveniently located: as you can assume reading the address this hotel is just a block from Bayside Marketplace (biscayne blvd runs parallel to the port) and above all it is 15 minutes drive from south beach.
Absolutely nothing to complain about rooms (modern and with huge widescreen tv) and service: the express check out on the phone, in a busy day of meeting and conferences, saved me a lot of time.
In downtown Miami I would probably come back here.

This Hilton was ok. The staff was fine. We got a big corner suite with floor to ceiling windows of the bay which was beautiful. We were there 1 night before a cruise and our goal was to be able to see the ships at port when we got up. that was accomplished. We didn't experience much at the hotel but I'll mention what we did.

After being in the room for about 1.2 minutes, one of tripped over a lamp cord as it is strung across the floor from the end table to the plug. It broke the bulb, the kind you are not supposed to touch. We asked for someone to come vacuum this but instead they sent up a maintance man who picked up the pieces with his hands and refused to send anyone with a vacuum. He said he got it all. NOT. We sectioned off that part of the room and no one could walk over there.

Room service was barely ok. Very expensive and the food was cold. I expected expensive, but not cold pancakes that can't melt a pat of butter.

Our A/C unit was SO LOUD sleeping was nearly impossible.

Front desk staff were great. the pool looked nice. The restaurant / bar area was quite nice. The doormen were great and informed us exactly how much cab rides should be so that we didn't get ripped off.

We are HHonors members and always stay in a related property. However since this hotel is just ok, we'll go somewhere else next time. Maybe something connected to the people mover.

Our stay was from 14 to 17 December 2011.
The accommodation was good. Buffet continental breakfast had a wide selection of items and we never felt the need to pay for extra hot items. The meal we had one evening in the restaurant was good, freshly cooked and reasonably priced. The bar served good cocktails, the martini was very good. Service on the terrace outside the restaurant was abysmal, better to get drink from the bar and carry them to the terrace yourself. The pool was cool but large with few people swimming, plenty of loungers and towels.

The taxi from the airport cost $25.

There are not many restaurants in the area of the hotel but a Checkers and a Burger King drive in opposite the hotel.

Public transport is close by. The Metromover runs from Omni station, which is around the corner from the hotel. This is an elevated railway which serves about 20 stations, including Bayfront Park, were boat trips to Biscanye Bay start. Trips on the Metromover are free. Some of the Metromover stations link with Metrorail which gives access to a larger area.

Busses run past the hotel and from Omni station to South Beach etc $2 each way, but one must have notes or coins to pay no change is given (an “Easy Rider” card or ticket (like an Oyster card) can be purchased from certain locations to make the payment, but we did not see a card/ticket machine except the one at the airport).

Before arriving in Miami we had booked a full day trip which included, everglades airboat ride, city bus tour and a boat trip in the bay. Quite a bit of time was wasted at the start of the trip by collecting people from various hotels and then waiting for minibuses from other hotels to meet us so the passengers from the hotels could be grouped on different trips. The everglades boat trip was a bit disappointing because the airboat carried about 30 people so views were obscured. The city tour did not cover much of the Miami beach area but did cover Coconut Grove, Coral Park etc (A $2 bus ride from Omni Station to Adventura Mall was more interesting.). The boat trip was at sunset, but a lot of time was spent sailing past the houses of famous American sportspeople, business men and pop stars.

Stayed at Miami Hilton for New Years Eve 2011. Great view was the only good thing at this hotel. Rates were too expensive and service was terrible. 4 persons stayed in room but only towels for 3 people. called hotel reception 3 times and no towels were ever delivered. not a good way to start New Years eve having to share towels. Air conditioning noise is horrendous. kept you awake all night. Phone did not work in room. WIFI is not free either. Would never stay here again and maybe not at another Hilton either. Watch out at drive inn restaurant across street - kinda scary for families.

Room Tip: higher floors have a great view
