“Good choice for your hospital stop-over”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2012

Whilst not located in the nicest quarter of Miami this hotel offers excellent access to the Jackson Memorial Hospital with a 1/2 hourly shuttle service to all the main departments. With a car it takes only minutes to head downtown and over to Miami Beach and the rail-system station is just around the corner.

Can´t really fault the hotel itself, its what you would expect from a Marriott chain hotel and the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Over the weekend we opted to eat breakfast out although it was included in the from price because it was a little basic! Didn´t see a business centre but there is free Wifi throughout the hotel.

We were looking for a hotel that had a shuttle service from the airport and to the port, and also offered breakfast.. Here it is.
I travelled with my husband and daughter.
When we arrived at the airport we waited for about an hour for the shuttle bus.We phoned the hotel and they told us that you need to let them know that you're ready, and then you'll get picked up. This hadn't been made clear before hand! And after a 10 hour flight with a 18 month old baby, we were slightly annoyed.
However, when we got to the room, things changed for the better. All the extras we had requested were already in place (travel cot etc). And we were offered a complimentary meal from the hotel due to our 90mins wait at the airport.
The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable.
We had requested a place on the 10am shuttle bus to the port. I believe there were several other time slots available, offhand I cannot remember what they were.
Breakfast was great. Local police and doctors from the medical centre ate breakfast there also.
The buffet breakfast options were refilled regularly. There was a choice of cereals, breads, muffins and fruit. Along with 'hot' breakfast options such as bacon, eggs, waffles (make your own) etc.

Overall I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is ok ...

The staff was very helpful and when we had our complaints they delivered.

The rooms were clean, which is a huge plus. The beds were comfortable, however the sofa bed was TERRIBLE. It literally had the springs poking out, it was unbearable to sleep there. We had to purchase an inflatable matress so we could all fit.

The breakfast was good, internet connection was good.

The things I did not like:

THE NEIGHBORHOOD !!!! Oh my was it terrible terrible terrible. Across the street there was a house with chickens and hens in the front yard. Too many homeless people around.

There was no easy access to many things, such as an ATM, a fast food restaurant, etc .... everything driving distance.

The guests were basically people that were going to go to the hospital or their relatives. Also, since the court is around the corner people who are in trials and whaat not.

Room Tip: Neiborhood is TERRIBLE.... dont stay here unless you are going to be in the health district.

Thank you for staying with us and providing your feed back. My apologies that you were not able to sleep comfortably on the sofa sleeper. The location of this hotel was selected to serve the needs of the medical center, cruise port and downtown Miami as well as the new Marlins Stadium and the Wynwood Arts district I am sorry you were disappointed in the location of the hotel. Thank you again for staying with us.

We chose to stay here the night prior to departing on a cruise. We chose it because it was affiliated with Marriott, which we like. Unfortunately, the shuttle from the airport to the hotel runs only once an hour, and we just missed it, when we landed. We arrived at the hotel early enough that the rooms were not ready, but they gave us the handicap room, so we were able to grab a bite in the restaurant, then go right to bed. Our room was huge, and very well equipped and comfortable for anybody. The bathroom had plenty of counter space, which some handicapped baths do not. The room had a sitting area, desk area, two queen size beds, and two bathroom areas, one with potty and a sink, with plenty of counter space, and one with shower and a sink, with plenty of counter space.

The restaurant, which is in the lobby, has a full bar, and a selection of sandwiches, hors d'oeuvres, and other light fare, which were excellent. A hot breakfast is included in the room price.

The local neighborhood did not appear attractive, so we did not walk around. We saw no stores or shopping areas in the area. The hotel ran a shuttle (nominal fee) directly to our ship.

The hotel was very comfortable, self contained, convenient, with transportation to both airport and cruise terminal. I would definitely stay here again as a restful stopover between flights and cruises.

Room Tip: Great, self contained hotel. Dubious neighborhood. Quiet area.

Excellent option in Miami, close to Bayside and basically easy access to all attractions, including Miami Beach. Nice room, good internet connection, and well served breakfast (although crowded sometimes). It even has a microwave and a sofa bed. Most of guests seem to be relatives of patients or even people under treatment in nearby hospitals, but it also great for tourists! You can easily park by the hotel. Good rates too.

I had the opportunity to visit this property with a business colleague last month. We had business with several hospitals/clinics at the University of Miami Medical
center complex. This property was very convenient to the medical complex, being approx. 1 to 3 blocks away depending upon where in the complex you are going. Rooms were clean, modern and well appointed. A free, quality hot breakfast was served. There is only one restaurant within walking distance other than the Au Bon Pain facility in the medical complex. If you don't have a car this might cause some difficulty. The property has onsite under cover parking that appears to be relatively secure but it is very tight with respect to actually navigating the parking ramp structure. Staff and hotel management was attentive and helpful. My only negative comment, and I shared this with the management who agreed, was that since this was a property adjoining a major medical center and had patients/family staying, should have hand sanitizers at the entrance/exit doors and elevators. Over all this was a good experience and a good value. I will be staying here when I visit the medical complex again. Neighborhood is a "little dicey" and I would not recommend evening strolls.

Stayed one night here before leaving from Port of Miami on a cruise. My husband and I shared a room with my sister and a friend. The room was great, very open with a nice sitting area, fridge, desk, etc.
The toilet was in a small space with a tiny corner sink, with a frosted glass sliding door....not ideal for sharing a room. A large closet was between the toilet and the rest of the washroom, the sink and a large shower. The room was new and fresh.

The restaurant was great, the canteen helpful, internet access and free wireless within the hotel. No complaints, except when we landed at Miami we said the Springhill Suits airport/by the university and we were brought to a different Springhill Suites. Make sure you ask for the medical centre hotel!
Staff was very busy but helpful.
Decent breakfast the next day, make yourself waffles, fruit, yogurt, eggs, etc. Would stay again except we would like to be closer to Bayside and in a safer neighbourhood.
