“Pretty Good”

Ok so I am not impressed with the company that operates the tour to and from key west, however the scenery on the ride and key west itself is simply amazing. The first day we could not find where we were supposed to be picked up downtown so Mary called and said they were looking for my wife and I. Since a language barrier existed and I could not really understand her with the Cuban accent I asked if we could reschedule and get a pickup closer to where we were stating for the following day, and the company accommodated us. So the next day we wake up and stand at the bus stop next door to where we were staying at 630 am and the bus starts picking people up from random areas around Miami beach and downtown Miami. Soon after everyone is on board Mary introduces herself and tells the passengers that the bus will only make one stop that morning at 8am for a ten minute breakfast stop and no further stops until we get to the Marina in key west at around 11am. Maria also lets the passengers know that the restroom at the rear of the bus is only for doing number 1 and only in emergencies. Once we arrived at key west the bus let everyone off at their various activities and Maria let everyone know where to meet the tour bus at 5 pm sharp or risk being left because they would not call nor look for anyone when leaving the island. My wife and i took the parasailing adventure and the guides on our boat were very entertaining and made the experience a ton of fun. You can tell the island revolves around tourism and the people are allot friendlier than in Miami were everyone acts like a New York City transplant. The ride back is a nightmare some guy threw up on the bus in the first hour all over the floor, the smell despite that we did not stop. The speed limit on the only two lane highway that leads to key west is 55 so we did not get back to the city until around 830 pm at that time they let some people off for a break but those were the ones taking the bus on to Fort Lauderdale those of us going to Miami beach had to stay on. Well just so happens the night we are coming back from the tour is the beginning of Urban Weekend on South Beach so the police have everything blocked off and it takes another 2 hours just to drop us close to our room. Long story short loved key west and parasailing hatred the bus tour.

“Don't trust Grayline”
Reviewed 13 April 2013 via mobile

Firstly, despite our disappointing experience with Grayline, I must point out that Key West (KW) itself was an exciting and vibrant place to visit. Unfortunately Grayline spoilt our trip; I will explain. One third into the 4 hour one way trip they unexpectedly transferred us to another bus with totally different tour company on the pretext of a faulty bus (which we now doubt). The second bus was hot and crowded. On arrival at KW, we had no guide and were advised what to do by the second company. Where is Grayline? Nowhere to be seen.

We quickly learnt the excursion promised was really just a bus transfer. We begin to doubt the story about the bus problem. We did the snorkeling tour option. Its a nice boat, great staff and plenty to drink on way back from the reef. But it's not really a reef. Having swum on many reef this one is mostly dead with very little colour. Despite that, we met some nice people and made the most of the 3 hours. After snorkelling we had just over an hour before the departure time. Not enough to do any other activities except walk the streets and shop, eat key lime pie or join the crowds in the bars. All ok depending on your inclination.

Grayline do not turn up at the departure point leaving us at the mercy of the second company who couldn't promise a return ride. Fortunately 6 of the 8 Grayline guests squeeze onto the bus with some guests required to sit on the floor for 3.5 hours uncomfortable, clearly unsafe and illegal. The 2 guests left behind at the bus stop were last heard on the phone arguing their case to an unhelpful Grayline person. We dont know what happened to these people. This is the second time we have had a similar experience with this company, so never again. And for the record, Grayline have ignored previous requests for compensation so we doubt they care about our experience. We booked this tour through Viator so double check the name of local operator before paying. Forewarned is forearmed.

“long day”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

The trip to key west was good with plenty of stunning scenery through all the keys and over the long bridges.
It took around 3 hours , with a short stop for brekkie.
Key West was nice , with good shops and good foto opps, especially at USA most southern point, 90 miles from cuba.We had food at the Grand , think it was on Duvall St.The food was plentiful and tasty , at a good price. There were loads of people on motorbikes there , on what looked like a seniors springbreak.
Another 3 hour trip back to Miami, again with a short stop. Not sure Key west was worth the load travelling time.

“BEAUTIFUL!!!”
Reviewed 15 September 2011

Holidays and waking up at 6:00AM is not a good combination - unless it's for Key West!! We had a nice ride to Key West, with information about the keys along the ride. Even if the ride seems long, it's totally worth it! It's BEAUTIFUL!!

You arrive in Key West and have approximately 5 hours on your own if you haven't chosen the snorkeling option. Just the right amount of time to visit the small Island.

We got a chance to see Hemingway's House, the most Southern Point of the American Continent, drink a beer at Sloppy Joe's, eat a Key Lime pie! PERFECT!

I am really happy we took the time to go to Key West during our 4 days stay in Miami. It's totally worth it! Recommended to everybody! ;)
