“Cuban flavor”

Music, Art, Food & Music. Especially Viernes Cultural, the last Friday of the month. Live bands play, art galleries are open late and dancing in the street.

“Latin flavor and culture”
Reviewed 4 May 2013

Calle Ocho used to be almost all Cuban, now it is more Nicaraguan and central and south american. That being said, one of the oldest and best Cuban restaurants in the city is Versailles restaurant, which exemplifies Cuban cuisine. Most of the other places feature Nicaraguan food and food from other Latin american countries as well. The Calle Ocho festival is overcrouded every year. The festival has many musical venues with dancing in the street. It is great for people watching. The food at the festival is generally not very high quality and is prepared in too far in advance. For authentic Latin cuisine avoid the festival and eat at one of the restaurants instead. One thing that is everywhere is the delicious, cafeine and sugar laden Cuban Coffee. If you love coffee you should try some.

“A mob”
Reviewed 28 March 2013

Too loud, crowded and commercial especially the Calle Ocho festival is just a mob. Might be worth one visit, but leave Rolex at home with the credit cards.

“Calle Ocho”
Reviewed 1 March 2013

I looked forward to visiting Calle Ocho. Maybe I expected too much, but in my view this is another street as there are many of them in Miami.
The cigar store is nice but I found the memorial statues to Cuba a bit disappointing.
The domino players were nice to look at for a couple of minutes, but in general I have the feeling that this is not a must-see area. Nice to hang around for an hour, but not the place to spend a half day.

“Went to theatre in the neighborhood and then ate there!”
Reviewed 14 February 2013

Last time my husband went before this most recent time, it was... in lousy shape. They have spruced it up. You feel safe walking around. There's a good selection of places to eat. It's just one of Miami's, "Must SEES!"
