My husband and I checked out Fiorito again last night and, if possible, it's even better than before. The food is still amazingly low-priced for the quality and quantity of the food. Also, they now pair sides with the main courses rather than having eveyrthing a la carte - a good idea, I think. We had the amazing pulpo and a roasted portobello salad for our starters. The octopus, as before, was delicious - tender and slightly charred. The portobello salad, a new item, was also wonderful. It's filled with thick slices of perfectly cooked portobello mushrooms, fresh arugula, bell peppers, and blue cheese. A very lovely, filling salad. I then learned that they had two new empanadas on the menu (I think they plan to vary the fillings) - spinach and lamb. We had one of each and they were wonderful. We typically eat only fish and vegetables but lamb is my weakness and this was worth it -- the empanada dough was flaky and greaseless and it was stuffed with devine shredded lamb. The other was stuffed with fresh, just barely cooked spinach with just a touch of feta and nutmeg. I really liked it because it wasn't primarily cheese, which is what you often get. I will definitely indulge whenever they offer these and can't wait to see what else they come up with in the future. We both had the corvina a la plancha, perfectly done with a delicious bit of arugula and tomato escabeche, along with a side of wonderful, creamy mashed potatoes (my favorite comfort food). All was topped off with his wonderful flan with homemade dulce de leche.

We rarely go off the beach for dinner but Fiorito has changed this. This place is wonderful and will be a regular.

This brand new Argentine restaurant, opened by the former chef of Miami Beach's The Dining Room, has the ambiance and low prices of a small, rustic, Latin bistro but food to compete with the best restaurants in Miami. I've been three times, once with 9 other friends, and everyone raved about the excellent food. The octopus is as good as I've ever had in travels around the world. Calabasa soup, the salads, branzino, and the flan were my favorites, but my carnivorous dining companions loved the meat dishes, especially the skirt steak and the blood sausage (morcilla). The restaurant is a bit hard to find, so look closely, and BYOB (waiter said the wine and beer license should be ready soon). Don't go expecting elegance, but do go expecting to pay a pittance for one of the best-tasting meals you've ever had.

My husband and I tried Fiorito last week for dinner. We have eaten this chef's cuisine before and loved it so we were excited to try his new place. We weren't disappointed. We started with squash soup, which is topped with thinly sliced scallions and chili oil, along with a few chunks of mozzarella - it was absolutely delicious. We then moved onto the mixed ceviche, which in addition to the seafood, had choclo (corn) in it. It was fresh, simply prepared, and very good. We also had salad (we had the beet and the tomato/avocado), the roasted veggies (delicious, not too oily and not overdone), pan-seared branzino (crispy skin, very fresh, perfectly done), and the lamb ragu pappardelle (outstanding, with large pieces of wonderful lamb). Our only disappointment was that they were out of the grilled octopus -- we are huge fans of octopus and we heard that it was so popular that customers ordered seconds and thirds. Prices are extremely cheap considering the quality and quantity of the food. We also learned that they are in the process of obtaining their beer/wine license (we brought our own bottle) and should have it shortly. We're going back this week with a group of friends and can't wait.
