THIS IS NOT Biscayne National Park! The name suggests that it is, but it is a private company that cannot even enter Biscayne National Park for tours. They sell tickets for the glass bottom boat then MYSTERIOUSLY it has engine trouble or needs maintenance...NO REFUND, but they are so kinds as to offer an alternative that you didn't want. Stay away, bad people, crooks and liars.

Biscayne National Underwater Park is the name of a private company and NOT AFFILIATED with Biscayne National Park or the National Park Service. This operation "Biscayne National Underwater Park" is the concessioner who ceased operations unexpectedly at Biscayne National Park leaving visitors with no snorkeling or boating. The person who posted that the park will not let you hire your own private charter and discourages visitors from captaining it themselves is mistaken. The park has never discouraged anyone from arriving via private vessel though they do not themselves offer boats for rental. One need only look out on the horizon from the shore to see people enjoying the park on their own boats. The National Park Service is working to resolve the issue of no concessioner but in the meantime, there is plenty to enjoy here in this beautiful place including watching the manatees!

Since it's not in the Keys, or near tourist attractions, this is pretty much a hidden secret! I just went for the first time in more than 10 years to snorkel at Biscayne National Park and it was better than i even remembered!!! The tour company and Captain Jim were 100% professional. I'm not sure what some of the reviews were complaining about? The reef is shallow - maybe 9 feet - so you have a perfect view of the creatures below. And there are plenty!! One big problem, though...half moon jellyfish. August is the month they bloom, so bring long sleeves and long yoga-type pants if you have to go then. I absolutely will be going back after jellyfish season. (Entrance to the park is free.)

We began our day talking to a friendly volunteer at the visitor's center. He was knowledgeable and offered suggestions for the rest of our trip to Florida. We signed up for a snorkeling trip and were not disappointed. We were taken to a beautiful reef. The captain and his assistant were very helpful. The day was a highlight of our trip.
